For a 1080p stream sent to Livepush, its Help Center recommends 2.5–4.5 Mbps at 30 fps or 4.5–8 Mbps at 60 fps. YouTube publishes different, codec-specific recommendations for the stream it ingests: 10 Mbps at 30 fps or 12 Mbps at 60 fps for AV1/H.265, and 14 Mbps at 30 fps or 17 Mbps at 60 fps for H.264. These figures describe guidance from different points in the workflow; the published pages do not explain how to reconcile them for a stream relayed through Livepush. Configure the encoder for your actual route, then test and monitor the stream before relying on it.
Which 1080p bitrate should you use with Livepush?
Start with the settings Livepush publishes for sending a live stream to its service, then verify the complete Livepush-to-YouTube path with a test. Do not treat Livepush’s input figures as if they were YouTube’s ingest recommendations, or assume the two services’ figures describe the same connection.
| Publisher and workflow point | 1080p at 30 fps | 1080p at 60 fps | What the figure describes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Livepush Help Center, 2025 | 2.5–4.5 Mbps | 4.5–8 Mbps | Livepush’s best-practice guidance for sending a live stream to Livepush. |
| YouTube Help, page checked 2026 — AV1 or H.265/HEVC | 10 Mbps | 12 Mbps | YouTube’s recommended encoder bitrate for ingestion. |
| YouTube Help, page checked 2026 — H.264 | 14 Mbps | 17 Mbps | YouTube’s recommended encoder bitrate for ingestion. |
| Livepush product page, checked 2026 | 4,000–8,000 kbps for a 1080p event | 4,000–8,000 kbps for a 1080p event | A separate product-page range for a 1080p event; it is not the same published recommendation as the Help Center ranges. |
The sources do not explain why Livepush’s input guidance is lower than YouTube’s codec-specific ingest recommendations, or whether the values refer to the same segment of a relayed stream. There is no supported single number that reconciles them. Use the settings applicable to the encoder and connection you control, and confirm the result with YouTube’s stream-health feedback during a test.
Choose 30 or 60 fps
Use 30 fps when the source is 30 fps
For a 30-fps source, set the output to 30 fps unless you have a specific reason to change it. Matching the source avoids asking the encoder to create extra frames that were not captured in the original material.

Use 60 fps when the source and motion justify it
Livepush and YouTube both document support up to 60 fps. Choose 60 fps when the source is 60 fps and the added temporal detail matters—for example, for fast movement. It calls for more bitrate than 30 fps in both services’ published recommendations. Do not choose 60 fps solely because the setting is available.
Settings to use as a starting point
The overlap between Livepush’s input guide and YouTube’s encoder guidance gives a practical baseline for a test stream. It does not establish a complete compatibility matrix for every encoder, codec, and Livepush configuration.

- Resolution: 1920 × 1080 (1080p), if supported by your plan and workflow.
- Frame rate: Match the source, choosing 30 or 60 fps according to its actual frame rate and motion.
- Rate control: Constant bitrate (CBR), which both services list in their guidance.
- Keyframe interval: 2 seconds. Both recommend this interval; YouTube says not to exceed 4 seconds, and Livepush states 4 seconds as its maximum.
- Video codec: H.264 is the common explicitly documented baseline: Livepush recommends it for input, and YouTube lists it for ingest. YouTube also lists H.265/HEVC and AV1, but the available guidance does not confirm end-to-end support for every such codec through Livepush.
- Audio: Livepush lists AAC-LC or Opus and recommends 128 kbps; YouTube lists AAC or MP3 and recommends 128 kbps for stereo. The pages do not establish which audio combinations work end to end in every encoder and Livepush setup. Use a supported configuration for your encoder and check the test stream’s audio.
Set the bitrate according to the section of the workflow for which you are configuring the encoder. If your encoder sends to Livepush, Livepush’s Help Center range is the directly relevant input guidance. YouTube’s recommendations apply to YouTube ingest and vary by codec and frame rate. Where Livepush relays the stream, test rather than assuming the input and destination figures are interchangeable.
Resolution and Free-plan qualification
Livepush supports 1080p, and its Help Center article dated June 17, 2024 says the Free plan is limited to 1080p. That is dated plan information, not a timeless technical limit; verify the current plan terms before relying on it. Technical support for a resolution and the resolution available on a particular plan are separate questions.

Set up and test the stream before an event
- Check the source. Confirm its native resolution, frame rate, and audio format. Use 30 or 60 fps to match the source and the movement in the program.
- Configure the encoder. Choose 1920 × 1080, CBR, a 2-second keyframe interval, and H.264 as the documented common baseline. If you select another codec or audio format, verify that your encoder and the Livepush workflow support it.
- Set the bitrate for the leg you control. If sending to Livepush, begin with its applicable Help Center range: 2.5–4.5 Mbps for 30 fps or 4.5–8 Mbps for 60 fps. Do not substitute YouTube’s ingest figure without confirming how the relay handles the stream.
- Run a representative test. Include movement and audio similar to the planned program. Check that your upload connection has capacity for the outgoing stream and observe YouTube’s stream-health status and messages during the test.
- Adjust only after checking the evidence. If the stream is unstable or YouTube reports a problem, check the encoder output, available upload capacity, and stream-health messages. Change one relevant setting at a time, then test again.
YouTube’s guidance specifically advises testing with movement and audio similar to the planned broadcast, then monitoring stream health and reviewing messages during the event. A static test image alone may not reveal problems that appear with motion or sound.
Troubleshooting common 1080p problems
| Symptom | What to check | Practical next step |
|---|---|---|
| Stream is unstable or YouTube reports poor stream health | Available upload capacity, encoder output, and YouTube’s stream-health messages. | Test with representative motion and audio. Confirm the bitrate is appropriate for the connection you control, then adjust and retest. |
| Motion looks less smooth than expected | Whether the source is 30 or 60 fps and whether the output frame rate matches it. | Use 60 fps only when the source provides it and the content benefits from it; otherwise match a 30-fps source. |
| YouTube’s bitrate figure is higher than Livepush’s | Which service’s recommendation applies to the encoder and which stream leg it describes. | Keep Livepush input guidance separate from YouTube ingest guidance. The published pages do not reconcile the figures for a Livepush relay; validate the actual workflow with a test. |
| 1080p is unavailable on the account | Current plan terms, not just technical resolution support. | Check the current Livepush plan details. The statement that the Free plan is limited to 1080p appears in a Help Center article dated June 17, 2024. |
| Audio is missing or incompatible | The encoder’s selected audio codec and whether that format is supported throughout the chosen setup. | Use an audio format supported by the encoder and verify sound in a test; the published lists do not guarantee every Livepush-to-YouTube combination. |
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep a YouTube channel live 24/7 from uploaded recordings or a playlist, rather than relay a live camera or encoder feed through Livepush, StreamNeo is a separate option. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live; StreamNeo loops the videos from the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not need to stay on.
