Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →A Google Cloud G2 example with one NVIDIA L4 GPU works out to about $623.14 for 730 hours on demand, or about $355.19 at the listed Spot rate. Those figures are compute examples—not complete monthly bills—and Spot capacity is not a dependable guarantee of uninterrupted streaming. A realistic budget must also account for the full VM, storage, and network egress.
What the cloud GPU example costs
Google Cloud’s accelerator-optimized pricing page lists a g2-standard-8 instance with one NVIDIA L4 GPU at $0.853624312 per hour on demand and a current Spot rate of $0.486565857 per hour. Multiplying each listed hourly rate by an assumed 730 operating hours gives these estimates:
| Billing mode | Listed hourly rate | 730-hour compute estimate | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| On demand | $0.853624312 | About $623.14 | Compute example only; excluded charges may apply. |
| Spot | $0.486565857 | About $355.19 | Current listed Spot rate; capacity and price can change, so it is not a guarantee of uninterrupted operation. |
These are arithmetic estimates based on the displayed rates, not provider quotes or tested workload results. Google says its GPU pricing page does not cover disk and images, networking, sole-tenant nodes, or VM instance pricing. The actual bill depends on region, full machine configuration, storage, and any charged outbound data transfer. Check the Google Cloud pricing calculator and account-specific rates before deploying.
What determines the full monthly budget
Full VM configuration and region
Do not assume the GPU line item is the entire machine price. Confirm whether the amount you are viewing includes the VM’s CPU and memory, then add the selected disk and image costs. Region and configuration can affect the final charge.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Outbound bandwidth and data transfer
The stream must send data continuously from the VM to YouTube. YouTube recommends a 35 Mbps ingest bitrate for 4K/2160p at 60 fps using AV1 or H.265, and 50 Mbps using H.264. At those steady rates, the stream sends roughly 15.75 decimal GB per hour at 35 Mbps or 22.5 decimal GB per hour at 50 Mbps, before protocol overhead. These are volume implications of the bitrate, not a prediction of your bill: check the VM’s actual egress cap and the provider’s transfer pricing and measurement rules.
Runtime and continuity design
A channel intended to stay live around the clock needs roughly 730 instance-hours in an assumed month. Planned shutdowns reduce billed runtime but interrupt the channel; restarts, failover capacity, and redundancy can add cost. Spot pricing may reduce the example compute amount, but do not budget it as guaranteed continuous capacity unless your design accounts for interruptions.

4K60 YouTube Live settings that affect the workload
YouTube Help’s live encoder guidance supports RTMP/RTMPS and H.264, H.265 (HEVC), and AV1; it allows frame rates up to 60 fps. For 4K/2160p at 60 fps, its recommended ingest rates are 35 Mbps for AV1 or H.265 and 50 Mbps for H.264. The corresponding listed minimums are 10 Mbps and 14 Mbps. Use the recommendation as a target for a stable 4K60 contribution stream, not as a guarantee that every encoder or VM will perform reliably.
- Keyframes: YouTube recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says not to exceed four seconds.
- Latency: YouTube’s low-latency option is unavailable for 4K; 4K streams use normal latency.
- Viewer playback: YouTube says it automatically transcodes live streams into multiple output formats for viewers on different devices and networks. Your outbound stream is still sent at the configured ingest bitrate.
The stream bitrate is not the only infrastructure check. Verify that the selected G2 machine type’s egress capacity can sustain the chosen rate, and confirm the applicable transfer charge for the region and account. Google’s G2 machine series documentation provides machine-type-specific maximum egress information.

How to compare cloud GPU estimates fairly
- Compare billing modes separately: on-demand, Spot/preemptible, and committed-use pricing have different availability and commitment trade-offs.
- Compare the whole machine: establish whether the quoted rate includes CPU and RAM VM charges, then include storage, images, and networking.
- Match region and configuration: compare the same region and machine setup rather than treating one GPU rate as universal.
- Include egress: account for the continuous bitrate, transfer pricing, and the machine’s bandwidth ceiling.
- Budget for the uptime you need: a 24/7 channel means sustained runtime; recovery or redundancy may change both cost and continuity.
- Validate encoder performance: YouTube’s settings specify ingest requirements, but they do not establish that a particular VM and software combination will encode your content reliably. The figures above are not a workload benchmark.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is a 24/7 YouTube channel playing uploaded recordings, rather than operating your own GPU VM, StreamNeo is an alternative: upload a video or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home. It streams your upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot; it automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, and the monthly option is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for uploaded videos streamed to YouTube, not a camera feed. See StreamNeo, or start the free day.
