Confirm channel eligibility and prepare early
YouTube says live streaming requires a verified channel with no live-stream restrictions in the previous 90 days. Plan for an archive separately
YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived; a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. If you need a complete recording, keep a local archive rather than relying on YouTube as the only copy. See YouTube’s archive live streams guidance.
Use content you have the rights to broadcast

Do not assume looping content is monetizable
YouTube monetization guidance applies to live streams and expects original, authentic content. Generic, repetitive, or mass-produced material can be ineligible; automation does not make reused content eligible. YouTube lists ads, Super Chat, Super Stickers, and memberships as possible live-stream revenue features, but says ad slots are not guaranteed to serve. Common problems and practical fixes
- You cannot start the broadcast: Check channel verification and whether a live-stream restriction has applied within the preceding 90 days. If live streaming has not been enabled, allow at least 24 hours and complete YouTube’s setup steps.
- The playlist stops after an interruption: Check the provider’s current recovery behavior and status, then confirm the broadcast is live again in YouTube Studio. A recovery feature is a provider claim, not a guarantee of uninterrupted service.
- The archive is missing or incomplete: If the broadcast exceeded 12 hours, YouTube may not capture it. Keep a separate recording if the archive matters.
- A video or song triggers a rights issue: Remove or replace material you are not authorized to stream and resolve the applicable claim or restriction through YouTube’s process. Owning a copy of a video does not by itself establish streaming rights.
- Playlist edits do not appear on air: Confirm whether the service supports inline edits and whether changes apply immediately or only to a later loop or schedule. Providers describe these behaviors differently.
