These are the five theme words and the spangram reported for this puzzle, six words in total. The answers are wine-variety names; the spangram is a phrase about buying by the bottle.
How Strands hints work
Parade reproduces gameplay instructions attributed to The New York Times: players form words by dragging or tapping letters; theme words fill the board; and the spangram describes the theme, touches two opposite sides, and can consist of two words. Finding three non-theme words earns a hint that reveals letters in a theme word. Found theme words are highlighted blue and the spangram yellow. These mechanics are described here through Parade’s reproduction rather than a verified official archival page for this specific board.

TechRadar’s January 25, 2026 guide and Parade’s January 26 guide agree on the date, theme, spangram and answers. The Strands Solution date-indexed archive records the same set. The dated guides identify this as game #694; one conflicting low-quality search result gave another number, so it is not used here.
