Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteTo keep a 24/7 chakra meditation playlist visible on YouTube, send a continuous, valid audio-and-video feed from an encoder, check the Live Control Room preview before publishing, and monitor the stream while it runs. A black or replaced picture can come from a failed source or encoder, a connection problem, or YouTube copyright enforcement—not just a visual-design choice. Clear the rights to every track for livestream use, and keep a local recording: YouTube says streams over 12 hours may not be captured as an archive.
What you need before going live
- A YouTube channel with live streaming enabled. YouTube says the channel must be verified and must not have had a live-stream restriction in the past 90 days. Check the current requirements in YouTube’s encoder setup guide.
- A video source that plays continuously alongside the audio. A calm still image or minimally animated visual can be intentional, but the feed must remain valid; an encoder connection by itself does not guarantee a black-screen-free broadcast.
- An encoder—software on a computer or suitable dedicated hardware—to send the feed to YouTube. Dedicated hardware is not mandatory for every creator; YouTube documents both software encoding and hardware options in its encoder guide.
- The stream URL and stream key from YouTube Live Control Room. Treat the key like a password: do not publish or share it.
- Music and other media cleared for YouTube livestreaming, plus enough upload bandwidth for the chosen stream bitrate.
Set up and start the playlist
- Confirm live access. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and check that the channel can stream. Resolve any channel verification or restriction issue before configuring the encoder.
- Create or schedule the stream. In Live Control Room, create a stream or schedule one. Copy the current server URL and stream key into the matching fields in your encoder. YouTube’s instruction is direct: “To start streaming, enter your YouTube Live server URL and stream key into your encoder.” See Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder and Manage live stream settings.
- Build a continuous audio/video source. Load the playlist in the encoder or its media source so playback continues from item to item and loops as intended. Include a valid visual throughout; do not assume that a blank or absent video signal will be treated as an acceptable meditation visual.
- Start the encoder before publishing. Let YouTube receive the feed, then inspect the Live Control Room preview. Confirm that both picture and sound are present and that the correct playlist is playing before you make the stream public.
- Check the viewing experience. Test the watch page and mobile playback, and monitor stream health and audio/video quality. YouTube recommends setting up in advance and testing failover if you use it; see YouTube live streaming tips.
- Keep an eye on the broadcast. For an unattended run, arrange a way to notice a frozen picture, lost audio, or encoder/network failure and restart or recover the feed. This is an operational precaution, not a YouTube-guaranteed watchdog service.
- Record locally. Keep a local copy if you need a complete archive. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, but streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured; a continuous 24/7 session should not rely on YouTube’s archive alone. See Archive live streams.
Keep the picture and connection stable
Give the upload connection headroom
YouTube recommends approximately 20% more available upload bandwidth than the stream bitrate. For example, if your stream uses 5 Mbps, aim for about 6 Mbps of upload capacity available to it, not merely a 5 Mbps internet plan shared with other activity. This is YouTube’s operational recommendation, not a guarantee against outages. Account for both primary and backup feeds if they transmit simultaneously, and reduce competing network use where possible. See YouTube Streaming tips.
Use a visual source that actually outputs video
A meditation stream can use a restrained, non-distracting visual, but make sure the media source continues to output a picture while audio plays. Verify that behavior in the actual Live Control Room preview rather than assuming a playlist or encoder is working because its status says “live.” The YouTube guidance emphasizes checking the preview and monitoring audio and video; it does not prescribe a particular visual design or guarantee that any loop will avoid a black screen.
Plan recovery, not just startup
For a long-running broadcast, decide who or what will detect a frozen or blank output and how the encoder or network will be recovered. If you configured a backup encoder or network, test the failover before relying on it. YouTube recommends testing failover where used and monitoring stream health, but its cited help pages do not document a specific automated watchdog or promise unattended recovery.

Diagnose a black screen or interruption
| What you see | What to check | Practical next step |
|---|---|---|
| A placeholder image appears, or the stream stops abruptly | Look for copyright notices in YouTube Studio. YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches and may replace the picture with a placeholder; if the matched content continues, it may interrupt or terminate the stream. | Review the notice and remove or replace the affected material unless you have the required rights and have resolved any Content ID issue. See Copyright issues with live streams. |
| Licensed music is still interrupted | Check whether the rights holder has allowlisted your channel through Content ID. | Ask the rights owner to allowlist the channel. YouTube says licensed content can still be interrupted if the channel is not on the allowlist; licensing alone may not prevent enforcement. |
| The encoder will not start | Confirm that you copied the current server URL and stream key from the correct stream in Live Control Room. | Update the encoder with the current key. YouTube lists obtaining a new stream key as a troubleshooting step for third-party encoder startup errors: Troubleshoot your YouTube live stream. |
| The stream is marked active but picture or sound is missing | Inspect the Live Control Room preview, encoder output, playlist/source playback, and stream health. | Check whether the source is playing and whether the encoder is actually sending both audio and video. Diagnose the local fault rather than assuming one particular cause; YouTube advises creators to check audio/video quality and monitor stream health. |
| The feed drops or becomes unstable | Check available upload bandwidth, competing network use, and any network disruption. | Restore adequate upload headroom and reduce competing traffic. YouTube warns that a network disruption can break a stream; see Streaming tips. |
Clear music rights and understand monetization limits
You need the rights to use the content in a livestream, including music. A track described as “chakra,” “meditation,” or “royalty-free,” or one available on another platform, is not automatically cleared for a YouTube livestream and archived replay. Check the specific license scope with the rights owner, including whether livestreaming and replay are covered and whether Content ID allowlisting is required. YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions address the rights you must have, and its live-stream copyright guidance explains enforcement and allowlisting.
Copyright clearance and monetization eligibility are separate questions. YouTube’s monetization policies say repetitive or mass-produced material falls under its inauthentic-content policy; its reused-content policy considers whether a channel adds significant original commentary, substantive modification, or educational or entertainment value. YouTube evaluates the channel as a whole. A looped meditation playlist therefore deserves an originality review, but the policy does not establish that every meditation livestream is ineligible. See YouTube channel monetization policies.
