Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minutePC Slower Than It Used to Be?

First check where the skipped episode is actually playing: if viewers are watching a YouTube playlist, inspect its contents and order in YouTube Studio; if OBS is playing local files, the specific source and its playback settings are needed to diagnose the skip. OBS connection problems can cause dropped frames, but the available documentation does not establish them as a cause of whole podcast episodes being skipped.
First identify where playback happens
A YouTube podcast show is a playlist, and its episodes are videos. OBS, by contrast, sends a live broadcast to YouTube. Those are separate functions, so a sequence problem in a YouTube playlist is not automatically an OBS problem. YouTube explains podcast playlists and episodes; OBS describes its YouTube workflow as streaming a broadcast. OBS’s YouTube streaming guide
| What you observe | Where to investigate first | What it may indicate |
|---|---|---|
| A viewer sees the wrong episode follow another in a YouTube playlist | The playlist’s contents and episode order in YouTube Studio | A playlist-order or contents issue, not evidence by itself of an OBS transmission fault |
| OBS is playing local media and moves past an episode | The local playback source, its queue, and its configuration | The provided documentation does not identify a specific local-source setting or confirmed cause |
| The broadcast freezes, breaks up, or loses frames | OBS connection and dropped-frame indicators | A stream-delivery issue may be present; this does not prove why a whole episode was skipped |
Also note whether the skip appears in the viewer-facing stream or only in OBS’s local preview. That distinction helps separate a playback/queue issue from a problem in what reaches YouTube.
Check the YouTube podcast playlist
- Open YouTube Studio and go to the podcast show or its playlist.
- Confirm that the expected episodes are included and that each intended episode is a full-length video. YouTube says podcast playlists should contain full episodes; some playlists may not qualify for podcast features. YouTube Help: Create a podcast in YouTube Studio
- Review the episode order in Studio and arrange it for the show’s format. YouTube recommends newest-to-oldest for episodic shows and oldest-to-newest for serial shows. YouTube’s podcast guidance
- Check whether the playlist was automatically classified as a podcast when that was not intended. YouTube documents a control for removing podcast features. The documentation does not say that podcast classification makes OBS skip episodes. YouTube Help
If OBS is playing local episodes
Inspect the exact source that plays the media and the queue or playlist it uses. The official material covered here does not establish which local-source controls apply to an unspecified setup, so there is no evidence-based universal OBS setting to recommend. Record the source type, the file order, what OBS shows at the moment of the skip, and whether the same skip reaches the live stream.

If the live broadcast is dropping frames
Check OBS’s connection and dropped-frame indicators if the symptom is interruption, freezing, or missing frames in the broadcast. OBS says dropped frames can reflect an unstable connection or a bitrate the connection cannot sustain. That is a stream-delivery check, not a confirmed explanation for an entire podcast episode being skipped. OBS: Dropped Frames and General Connection Issues
What to collect for a specific diagnosis
- Where playback occurs: YouTube’s player, an OBS local-media source, or another player.
- The source type and queue configuration if OBS plays the episodes.
- The YouTube playlist’s video contents and order.
- Whether the skip is visible to viewers in the broadcast, or only in the creator’s preview.
- Whether the symptom is a jump to another episode or an interruption/drop in the stream.
Without those details, the title alone cannot establish a specific cause. YouTube’s playlist ordering guidance and OBS’s dropped-frame guidance address different problems.
