If OBS shows network dropped frames during a YouTube loop stream, first test the upload path: connect the computer to the router by Ethernet, try a lower video bitrate, and compare results during a representative test stream. A looped video still needs a steady connection from OBS to YouTube. The exact cause cannot be identified without your line, equipment and stream measurements, so work through the checks below before blaming BSNL or replacing hardware.
Confirm that the problem is network dropped frames
Open OBS’s Stats panel or watch the status bar while the problem occurs. If the network dropped-frame counter rises, OBS is having trouble delivering data to the remote server at the configured bitrate. OBS Project describes dropped frames as a connection that is unstable or cannot keep up with the set bitrate, and says this class of problem is extremely unlikely to be caused by OBS itself: OBS network connection troubleshooting.
Do not confuse network drops with rendering lag or encoder overload. If a rendering or encoding counter is rising instead, the network steps in this guide may not address the fault; diagnose the counter OBS actually reports.
Run a test that resembles the real loop stream
Before relying on a continuous loop, run a representative test with audio and movement similar to the programme you intend to stream. Monitor the OBS network counter and YouTube’s stream health and messages together. Note the start time, whether the problem is continuous or intermittent, and whether it clusters at particular hours. A speed test can help describe the connection, but one result does not prove the line can sustain a continuous stream. OBS suggests using 75% of total upload speed as a starting point for bitrate, not as a guarantee. Actual stability can vary over time and with other household upload use.
Use Ethernet to isolate Wi-Fi
If the streaming computer is on Wi-Fi, connect it directly to the router with Ethernet for a comparable test. OBS recommends a wired connection when Wi-Fi may be unstable. Restart the modem and router, then check that the cable is seated and that the router’s network hardware appears normal. If you already have a known-good spare cable or router, use it as an isolation test; do not assume a purchase or replacement is needed unless a test points to faulty hardware.

Compare the OBS counter and YouTube stream health under otherwise similar conditions. If Ethernet stabilizes the stream while Wi-Fi does not, focus on the wireless link or its placement rather than immediately changing the BSNL plan.
Lower bitrate without guessing
Reduce OBS’s video bitrate in measured steps, then observe whether the network dropped-frame rate settles during a comparable test. Leave margin for upload variation and other devices using the connection. YouTube’s current encoder guidance, accessed in 2026, lists these recommended H.264 rates:

These are encoder recommendations, not a promise that a particular BSNL connection can sustain them. Choose a bitrate that both fits YouTube’s guidance for the selected codec, resolution and frame rate and remains below the stable upload capacity you observe. If the line cannot sustain the recommended setting, a lower resolution or frame rate may be preferable to repeated drops.
Test OBS network settings one at a time
- Keep Bind to IP at Default. Do not change it as a first-line fix.
- Temporarily test IPv4 Only. Compare a test stream with the default IPv4/IPv6 setting. If IPv4 Only does not improve stability, restore the default.
- On Windows, test Enable network optimizations and TCP pacing. Change one setting at a time and compare comparable streams so you can identify whether a change mattered.
- Consider Dynamic bitrate only as a fallback. It can reduce drops by lowering quality during congestion, but OBS cautions that it does not fix the underlying connection problem.

Check software and YouTube ingest as diagnostic variables
- Temporarily test without a VPN. If stability changes, investigate the VPN route rather than assuming the broadband line itself is at fault.
- Check whether security software or bundled network-priority or “optimization” software interferes with OBS. Re-enable security protection after testing; add an OBS exception only if the test identifies it as necessary.
- Update the network adapter driver using the computer or motherboard manufacturer’s source.
- If available, compare a different YouTube ingest/server option with other settings unchanged. A different result can help narrow the route or ingest path, but does not by itself prove who is responsible.
When to contact BSNL
If drops continue over Ethernet at a reduced bitrate, collect evidence before opening a complaint. BSNL’s official customer-care page lists 1800-4444 for Bharat Fiber, broadband and landline support; its self-care portal also provides technical complaint booking. The right route can vary by circle and service, so check the contact details associated with your account.
- Dates and times when the stream drops, including whether the issue is worse at particular hours.
- Your access type and plan, if known, plus modem/router details and whether you tested by Ethernet.
- The OBS log and the observed dropped-frame percentage.
- Upload measurements taken during the stream, not just a one-time speed test.
- YouTube stream-health messages and whether another ingest option changed the result.
Ask BSNL to check line stability and routing during the affected times. The available information does not establish your plan’s upload rate, access technology, a neighborhood outage or a YouTube routing fault; it is not enough to conclude that BSNL is throttling the stream or that you need a plan upgrade.
