You can run a 24/7 Indian music stream from a Linux VPS by scheduling a playlist in Liquidsoap, encoding it with FFmpeg, and sending it to YouTube Live. But 1 GB of RAM is a constraint to test, not a guarantee: video encoding also depends heavily on CPU, settings, and the VPS provider’s limits. Before configuring anything, make sure you have rights for every recording and composition in the stream; Indian music is not exempt from YouTube’s copyright rules.

Check music rights before building the stream

YouTube’s livestream terms require the channel operator to have the rights needed to use live content on Google services worldwide, including music rights from artists, labels, publishers, and other royalty participants. Confirm that permissions cover both the specific sound recordings and the underlying compositions, the territories where the stream will be available, and continuous online livestream use. A purchased download or personal streaming subscription does not by itself establish those permissions.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party copyrighted content. A match may cause a placeholder image to appear, interrupt the stream, or terminate it. Even a licensed stream can be interrupted if the rights holder has not allowlisted the channel through Content ID; ask the catalogue owner or distributor how to arrange that before going live. If YouTube archives the stream, copyright claims may also arise after the broadcast ends. See YouTube’s live copyright guidance.

What a 1 GB RAM VPS can—and cannot—tell you

RAM alone does not determine whether a VPS can encode a continuous video stream reliably. Liquidsoap’s FFmpeg video guidance warns that video uses substantially more CPU than audio. Resolution, frame rate, encoder preset, CPU allocation, file handling, network throughput, and the provider’s resource limits all affect whether encoding can keep up.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

No universal 1 GB configuration is established by the cited documentation. Treat a small VPS as a candidate to benchmark under the exact settings and workload you plan to use. If it cannot maintain the stream without dropped frames or sustained resource pressure, reduce the video workload, encode elsewhere, or choose a VPS with more suitable CPU resources.

Liquidsoap with FFmpeg for a playlist-based station

For a scheduled music station, Liquidsoap can manage a playlist and fallback source, while FFmpeg handles video encoding and output to YouTube Live. This provides a single headless process to supervise. The Liquidsoap project documents the system, and its video guidance covers FFmpeg encoding. Check the documentation for the version you install: configuration syntax and available encoders can vary by version and build.

FFmpeg directly for a prepared visual loop

If you already have a pre-rendered visual loop and a music program, FFmpeg can send that output directly. You will need a way to manage the playlist or prepared media, restart the process after failures, and retain logs for diagnosis. A process that starts successfully once is not, by itself, a supervised 24/7 service.

Set up the YouTube ingest and encoder settings

  1. Enable live streaming on the channel. Follow YouTube’s current live-streaming setup guidance and complete any channel requirements shown in YouTube Studio before scheduling a broadcast.
  2. Create a live broadcast and retrieve its ingest details. In YouTube Studio, create or schedule the stream and use the current server URL and stream key shown for that broadcast. Do not publish the key in a public script, repository, screenshot, or log. Treat it as a credential; replace it in YouTube Studio if it is exposed.
  3. Use the recommended transport and codecs. YouTube recommends RTMPS, H.264 video, and AAC or MP3 audio. Use progressive scan and constant bitrate (CBR). Liquidsoap’s FFmpeg output can be configured to send to YouTube Live; use the current ingest details from Studio rather than assuming a permanent server address.
  4. Set the keyframe interval. YouTube recommends a two-second interval and says not to exceed four seconds. Configure the encoder accordingly and verify the actual output rather than relying only on a preset name.
  5. Set audio deliberately. YouTube’s current encoder guidance accessed in 2026 lists 128 kbps stereo audio at a 44.1 kHz sample rate. Match the encoder output to those recommendations and confirm that the channel is not clipping or silent.
  6. Choose resolution, frame rate, and bitrate together. Consult YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrate guidance for the output you choose. On a constrained VPS, start with conservative video dimensions and frame rate, then test. Do not assume that meeting YouTube’s ingest settings means the VPS has enough CPU to encode them.
  7. Test representative material. Test with the same visual motion, audio, playlist length, and output settings intended for the live schedule. Watch YouTube’s stream health and compare it with VPS CPU, memory, dropped frames, and outbound network use.

Build and supervise the VPS stream

  1. Prepare a minimal Linux VPS. Confirm the plan’s allocated CPU, whether it is shared, memory, storage, transfer allowance, network restrictions, and support terms. Install the Liquidsoap/FFmpeg combination supported by the version-specific documentation you are following.
  2. Place media on the server or another dependable source. Organize only media you are licensed to stream. Check that the process can read every file and that the available storage is sufficient for the intended catalogue; a missing or unreadable file can break a playlist even when the encoder itself is healthy.
  3. Define the playlist and fallback behavior. Configure Liquidsoap to move through the licensed tracks and specify what should happen if a source file is unavailable or the playlist runs out. A fallback can keep the output from going silent, but it must also be content you have rights to use.
  4. Configure the video and audio output. Use FFmpeg settings that match YouTube’s ingest recommendations above. Keep the video workload modest at first on a small VPS, and avoid selecting a high-resolution, high-frame-rate output simply because YouTube accepts it.
  5. Keep credentials out of exposed files and logs. Restrict access to configuration containing the stream key. Avoid logging the full ingest URL if it embeds the key, and do not include secrets in shell history or public diagnostics.
  6. Run the process under a service supervisor. Configure the Linux service manager or another process supervisor to start the stream at boot and restart it after a process failure. Capture logs somewhere with enough disk space and a rotation policy. Supervision can restart a local process; it does not ensure YouTube will accept the stream or that encoding will keep up.
  7. Start a private or unlisted test broadcast. Confirm that YouTube receives audio and video, the stream health indicator remains acceptable, the playlist advances, and the VPS does not accumulate dropped frames or exhaust memory. Test the recovery path by restarting the process and verifying that it reconnects with the current broadcast settings.
  8. Schedule the public stream only after the test passes. Keep an eye on the first live session and re-check the process, stream health, and resource use after changes to media, resolution, frame rate, or encoder settings.

Benchmark the actual 1 GB plan

Run a long enough test to expose resource pressure rather than judging the VPS from a brief startup. Observe these factors together:

  • Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
  • What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
  • CPU: Sustained high use or encoding that falls behind means the selected video workload may be too demanding. Lower the resolution or frame rate, use a less demanding visual, or move encoding to a machine with more CPU capacity.
  • Memory: Watch for rising use, swapping, or process termination. The stream’s media handling, operating system, and encoder all consume resources; a nominal 1 GB allocation is not all available to FFmpeg.
  • Frames and stream health: Look for dropped frames and warnings in YouTube Studio. A connection can be live while the encoder is still failing to deliver smoothly.
  • Network and transfer: Measure outbound throughput during the stream and compare the continuous transfer with the VPS plan’s allowance and billing terms. A stream running around the clock can use substantial monthly transfer.
  • Reconnect behavior: Check both local process restart and YouTube reconnection. They are separate failure points, and a process supervisor cannot guarantee recovery from every ingest or account-side interruption.

Troubleshoot common failures

  • YouTube shows no incoming stream: Check that the broadcast is ready in Studio, the current server URL and stream key are correct, the VPS can reach the ingest endpoint, and the process is using RTMPS details where configured. If a key may have been exposed, replace it and update the encoder configuration.
  • Stream health reports dropped frames: Compare encoder load and network throughput. Reduce resolution or frame rate and repeat the test; if the VPS still cannot keep pace, use more capable compute or encode elsewhere.
  • Audio is missing, distorted, or out of sync: Check that the playlist source is readable and producing audio, confirm the selected audio codec and sample rate, and inspect the FFmpeg/Liquidsoap logs. Test a representative track before restarting the public schedule.
  • The stream stops after an encoder error: Read the service logs for the first failure, correct the underlying cause, and verify that the supervisor restarts the process. A repeated restart loop needs a fix, not just a shorter restart interval.
  • The stream is replaced or interrupted despite having permission: Check YouTube’s live copyright status and contact the rights holder or distributor about Content ID allowlisting. A licence alone may not prevent automated interruption if the channel is not allowlisted.
  • The playlist becomes silent or stalls: Check file paths, permissions, media availability, and playlist exhaustion. Configure and test a rights-cleared fallback source rather than assuming the scheduler will recover from a missing asset.

Remember that uptime does not guarantee monetization

YouTube’s channel monetization policies apply to livestreams. The policy identifies repetitive or mass-produced material as potentially inauthentic and potentially ineligible for monetization; YouTube noted a clarification and renaming from “repetitious content” to “inauthentic content” on July 15, 2025. A long playlist, continuous uptime, or music permission does not by itself establish channel eligibility. Make the channel’s original contribution meaningful and assess it against the current policy rather than assuming a static loop will qualify.
