The Netflix adaptation also features Emmanuel Imani as agent Wilbur Evans, Liam Woodrum as fellow model Nick Park, and Rochelle Harrington as Harriet’s best friend, Nat Grey.
Who is in the Geek Girl cast?
Netflix’s season-one cast guide maps the principal roles as follows:
| Actor | Character | Role in the series |
|---|---|---|
| Emily Carey | Harriet Manners | A teenager who is discovered as a model. |
| Emmanuel Imani | Wilbur Evans | Harriet’s modeling agent and mentor. |
| Liam Woodrum | Nick Park | A fellow model and Harriet’s love interest. |
| Daisy Jelley | Poppy Hepple-Cartwright | Nick’s girlfriend and an established model who sees Harriet as a threat. |
| Rochelle Harrington | Nat Grey | Harriet’s best friend. Corus’s 2023 announcement calls the character Natalie Grey; Netflix’s guide uses Nat Grey. |
| Tim Downie | Richard Manners | Harriet’s father. |
| Jemima Rooper | Annabel Manners | Harriet’s stepmother. |
| Zac Looker | Toby Pilgrim | A classmate of Harriet and Nat. |
| Hebe Beardsall | Betty | Wilbur’s assistant. |
Netflix Tudum’s cast and character guide identifies these season-one roles. Netflix’s official title page also lists James Murray and Sarah Parish among the cast, but does not assign them characters there. Corus’s original 2023 production announcement identifies Parish’s character as Jude Paignton. Those listings alone do not establish either actor’s role in a later season.

Emily Carey plays Harriet Manners. Harriet is a 16-year-old student at Hollybridge Secondary School in England. During a school trip, a modeling agent notices her, drawing her into the fashion world and disrupting the life she knows.

Is Geek Girl based on a book?
Yes. The Netflix series is based on Holly Smale’s young-adult novel Geek Girl, the first book in a series. Corus Entertainment said in its June 14, 2023 production announcement that the book series comprises six novels, two novellas and one World Book Day book, published by HarperCollins UK and translated into 28 languages. You can find the source novel as Geek Girl by Holly Smale.
The screen adaptation should be treated as its own version of the story, rather than a guarantee that each television character’s arc matches the books. Netflix Tudum notes that Smale’s years as a teen model inspired the book series, but says the television show is not a true story. Corus describes the books as loosely based on Smale’s experience.
