How to Schedule Hindi Podcast Reruns on YouTube Live with OBS

A practical workflow for scheduling a Hindi podcast rerun as a YouTube Live event, configuring OBS, checking stream settings and troubleshooting failures.

Schedule the event in YouTube Studio, connect OBS with that event’s stream URL and key, then start the prerecorded episode from OBS at the planned time. Scheduling creates an upcoming watch page; it does not, by itself, start OBS or trigger playback on your computer.

Before scheduling: check channel eligibility

  • Your YouTube channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days.
  • YouTube Live is limited to people aged 16 or older.
  • Have the finished Hindi podcast episode available on the computer that will run OBS, and confirm that you can play its audio through the intended OBS audio path.

Schedule the YouTube Live event

  1. Open YouTube Studio and select Create > Go Live > Manage.
  2. Select Schedule stream. Create a new stream or choose Reuse settings if you want to carry over settings from a previous event.
  3. Set the episode’s title, description, visibility, thumbnail and start time. Check the time zone and intended visibility before saving.
  4. Open the scheduled event in Live Control Room and note its watch page. Scheduling lets you promote the upcoming stream; viewers may be able to select Notify me on the event page. YouTube’s instructions describe scheduling as promotion, not as an automatic playback trigger for OBS.

YouTube’s encoder scheduling instructions are at Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder; scheduled stream settings and reminders are covered in Manage live stream settings.

Connect OBS to the scheduled event

  1. In YouTube Live Control Room, open the scheduled stream’s settings and copy the stream URL and stream key for that event.
  2. In OBS, open Settings > Stream. Select the YouTube service if available, or configure the server using YouTube’s stream URL, then enter the event’s stream key. OBS labels can vary by version and connection method; use the URL and key supplied for this scheduled event.
  3. Keep the key private. YouTube describes stream keys as “like your YouTube stream’s password and address.” If it is exposed, an owner or manager can reset it in Live Control Room; update OBS with the replacement key before the next broadcast.
  4. Load the prerecorded episode using your OBS playback setup. Play a section and confirm the video source appears, the audio meter moves, and the sound is audible at a sensible level without clipping or unintended desktop audio.

Do not assume that creating the scheduled watch page will launch the local file. You must start the encoder and playback yourself, or use an external playback trigger that you have tested. The official YouTube and OBS workflow described here does not establish a native recurring scheduler that starts local podcast playback automatically.

Choose stable stream settings for a spoken-word rerun

For a podcast, reliable, intelligible audio matters more than choosing the largest resolution. Match resolution and frame rate to the episode’s visuals, the computer’s encoding capacity and the upload connection. Select a supported resolution-and-bitrate combination from YouTube’s current table for the chosen codec and frame rate instead of guessing a bitrate without those details.

  • Ingest: Prefer RTMPS when configuring the connection; it encrypts the ingest connection.
  • Video codec: YouTube’s RTMP/RTMPS guidance lists H.264.
  • Audio codec: YouTube lists AAC or MP3 for RTMP/RTMPS.
  • Rate control: Use constant bitrate encoding.
  • Keyframes: Set a 2-second keyframe interval; YouTube says not to exceed 4 seconds.
  • Upload capacity: YouTube recommends keeping 20% upload-bandwidth headroom. A connection that barely matches the stream’s bitrate leaves little room for variation.

See Choose live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions for the current supported settings and Streaming tips for setup and bandwidth guidance.

Test and start the rerun

  1. Before the event, test OBS with a section of the actual episode or media with similar movement and audio. Confirm dialogue is clear, channels are routed as intended, and playback does not stop or loop unexpectedly.
  2. Set up the encoder in advance. YouTube recommends starting encoders at least 15 minutes before the event.
  3. Start OBS streaming at the intended time, then check the Live Control Room preview before starting the YouTube event. Follow the on-screen controls for that scheduled event; starting the encoder and starting the event are distinct actions in an encoder workflow.
  4. While live, watch YouTube’s stream-health messages and monitor OBS for dropped frames, audio problems or a stopped playback source. Keep the computer and network available for the entire rerun.
  5. After ending the broadcast, check the event’s watch page and archive. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived.

Troubleshooting common failures

Symptom Likely cause What to check or do
OBS connects to the wrong event or YouTube shows no incoming stream The URL or stream key belongs to a different event, or the key was changed. Copy the URL and key from the intended scheduled event in Live Control Room and update OBS. If the key may have been exposed, reset it and replace the saved value.
The event is scheduled, but the episode does not start Scheduling made an upcoming event page; it did not start OBS or the local media source. Start the encoder and the episode playback through your OBS setup. Test any external automation independently rather than relying on the scheduled page to trigger it.
Viewers see video but cannot hear the Hindi dialogue The media source’s audio is not routed to the stream, the wrong device is selected, or its level is too low. Play the file before going live, verify OBS audio meters and output routing, and listen to a test recording or preview.
Stream health reports instability or viewers see buffering The upload connection may not sustain the configured bitrate, or its capacity may fluctuate. Check the selected resolution and bitrate against YouTube’s supported table and leave the recommended upload headroom. Retest on the connection you will use for the event.
The scheduled page is not visible to the intended audience The event’s visibility setting is not what you expected. Review visibility in Live Control Room and check the watch page while signed out or with an account that reflects the audience’s access.
