Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →To prevent clipping, preserve the binaural-beat track’s left and right channels, lower its level before it reaches digital full scale, and put an OBS Limiter last in the audio filter chain. Then test the actual stream path: check both OBS meters, preview and record a representative section, listen back, and monitor stream health once live.
1. Keep the audio signal stereo
- In OBS, use a stereo audio configuration and add the binaural-beat source.
- Play the source and confirm that both left and right meters show activity. Check that the source itself contains the left/right differences you intend to stream; meter activity alone cannot confirm the content is correct.
- Do not enable mono downmix in the streaming path if the program depends on its separate left and right channel assignments. OBS defaults to stereo and provides downmix as a separate option. See the OBS Audio Mixer Guide.
This is a routing precaution, not a claim about binaural beats’ effects.
2. Set gain before adding a limiter
Work from the source toward OBS: check the source’s playback level, the operating-system mixer, and then the OBS fader. Play the loudest passage in the actual program while watching OBS’s peak indicators. OBS explains that audio above 0 dBFS in the final stream or recording can produce clipping distortion.
OBS uses -9 dBFS as its “Permitted Maximum Level” meter reference. Its documentation describes the margin as accounting for possible meter-peak discrepancies and alignment uncertainty across equipment. Treat it as a conservative reference, not a YouTube loudness target. See the OBS Audio Mixer Guide.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
3. Put an OBS Limiter last in the filter chain
- In OBS, open the audio source’s Filters.
- Add Limiter after the other audio filters.
- Start with the audio level set sensibly, then listen and watch the limiter’s gain reduction while the loudest passage plays. Adjust the threshold as needed for the program rather than treating a default as a mastering prescription.
OBS says a Limiter prevents peaks above 0 dB that can cause clipping and distortion, and specifies that it should be last in the filter chain. Its documented defaults are a -6.00 dB threshold and 60 ms release; these are software defaults, not universal settings for every mix. See the OBS Limiter Filter documentation.
If you prepare the audio in Audacity, its Limiter’s documented default output is -1 dB, leaving headroom below full scale before lossy encoding. That can help with the source file, but it does not replace checking the OBS chain and the final encoded stream. See the Audacity Limiter manual.

4. Use YouTube’s stereo audio encoder settings
For RTMP or RTMPS live ingestion, YouTube’s encoder guidance lists AAC or MP3 audio. Its stereo audio recommendations are:
| Setting | YouTube guidance |
|---|---|
| Audio codec | AAC or MP3 |
| Sample rate | 44.1 kHz for stereo |
| Audio bitrate | 128 kbps for stereo |
These are YouTube Help’s live encoder settings, accessed in 2026. They are audio settings; do not mistake the same page’s resolution and frame-rate ranges for audio recommendations. Choose video settings to suit the visual component and available upload capacity, then test the combined stream. YouTube recommends leaving 20% room against available upload bandwidth. See YouTube’s live encoder settings and live streaming tips.

5. Preview, record, and listen before going live
- Run a test with audio similar to the real program, including its loudest section. YouTube recommends that tests include audio and video movement similar to the planned stream.
- Check the Live Control Room preview and OBS meters. Confirm both stereo channels are present and the peaks are not reaching or exceeding 0 dBFS.
- Record a representative session in OBS and play the file back before broadcasting. A recording can reveal distortion or routing problems that were not obvious while watching meters.
- Listen through headphones or a monitor output if available. OBS recommends checking audio at the device and again as it reaches OBS; headphones are a monitoring aid, not a clipping fix.
- During the broadcast, monitor YouTube stream health and OBS peak indicators. OBS’s top meter indicator retains the loudest level for 20 seconds, which can help reveal a recent peak.
YouTube recommends monitoring stream audio and video quality during the broadcast. See YouTube’s live streaming tips and the OBS Audio Mixer Guide.
Troubleshoot clipping and channel problems
| What you notice | Likely area to check | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Distortion is already audible in the source or before OBS processing. | Source or playback level | Lower the source’s output first, then check the operating-system mixer and OBS fader while playing the loudest passage. |
| OBS peaks reach full scale or the recording sounds distorted. | Gain staging or filter order | Reduce level before the limiter; ensure the Limiter is last in the filter chain and test a new recording. |
| Only one channel appears active, or the channel presentation is not as intended. | Source routing or mono downmix | Confirm the source has the intended stereo content, inspect both meters, and make sure mono downmix is not enabled if separate left/right channels are required. |
| The OBS recording sounds clean, but the YouTube preview or live stream does not. | Encoded stream path | Test the Live Control Room preview with the real audio, review stream health and messages, and verify the encoder’s stereo settings. |
| Audio breaks up while the stream is unstable. | Total stream load or upload capacity | Check stream health and available outbound bandwidth; YouTube recommends keeping a 20% bandwidth allowance. |
Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo keeps an uploaded video or playlist live on YouTube from the cloud; it does not stream from a camera or to other platforms. For this clipping problem, the audio still needs to be prepared and checked correctly before upload—the service does not replace stereo routing, gain staging, or listening tests. The setup is: upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, then go live.
