A CSV can only drive the video lineup if a separate scheduler or playout tool supports your file format. YouTube Studio or its API schedules the live broadcast; an encoder or cloud playout service sends the video feed.
Understand the two schedules
A YouTube live broadcast and the sequence of videos playing within it are separate things. A broadcast is the event and watch page. A stream is the audiovisual feed sent to YouTube; YouTube’s API overview says each broadcast is associated with one video stream.
YouTube’s official documentation reviewed here describes creating a broadcast, setting its title, scheduled start time and privacy status, creating an incoming stream, binding the two, and moving the broadcast through states such as testing and live. It does not specify a native workflow for importing a CSV as a media playlist. In practice, the CSV must be handled by a separate scheduling or playout layer, if that tool supports CSV.
YouTube’s Live Streaming API documentation explains the broadcast and stream resources. Its Life of a Broadcast guide also describes a 24/7 feed with a separate broadcast for a segment such as an interview, bound to the same incoming stream.

Choose what will read the CSV and play the videos
Before building a schedule, identify the component that will interpret the rows, locate the video files, play them in sequence, and provide a continuous feed to YouTube. YouTube’s guidance is to use an encoder—software or standalone hardware—connected with the stream URL and stream key. A cloud playout service can instead host the playlist and send the feed from its infrastructure.
| Option | Where playback runs | What sends the feed | CSV status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Local encoder | Your computer or standalone hardware, using a playlist or other playback workflow | The encoder connects to YouTube with its stream URL and key | YouTube’s reviewed documentation does not establish native CSV media scheduling. Confirm that any separate player or scheduler imports your exact CSV. |
| Cloud playout | A service’s cloud infrastructure, according to the service’s description | The service sends the feed to YouTube | CSV import is not established for the services described below; ask the provider or consult its current documentation. |
YouTube’s Help guidance on live streaming with an encoder covers software and standalone hardware encoders, stream URL and key setup, and scheduled Studio events. A scheduled event promotes the broadcast and gives it a watch page; the encoder supplies the video.

Cloud service descriptions to investigate
These are vendor-described capabilities, not independent reliability assessments. Their pages describe playlist or scheduled-stream features, but do not establish that they accept a CSV import.
- StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos, with looping and playlists. It does not document CSV import in the information cited here; confirm CSV support before relying on it to ingest a schedule.
- Upstream describes always-on and scheduled streams from prerecorded videos, with playlists that can loop in order or shuffle.
- LiveReacting describes scheduled playlists of prerecorded videos, including dates or repeats, running from its servers while the computer is off.
- Looping Stream describes uploading files, arranging a playlist, choosing an RTMP destination, and running the feed continuously from cloud infrastructure.
Check CSV compatibility before preparing the schedule
Do not assume that a tool’s playlist feature also means it imports CSV. Check the current documentation or ask the provider these specific questions before building a large schedule:

- Does the product import CSV files at all, and what exact columns, headers, encoding, and date format does it require?
- Does each row represent a video, a playback slot, a YouTube broadcast event, or something else?
- How are dates and times interpreted: which time zone applies, and can the schedule cross midnight or daylight-saving changes?
- How does it handle repeats, blank or missing files, duplicate rows, overlapping start times, and a video that runs longer than its allotted slot?
- Does editing or replacing the CSV update an active playlist, or must you re-import and restart it?
- What happens if playback or the connection to YouTube is interrupted, and does the tool resume the current item or restart the lineup?
Until the selected tool’s own documentation answers those questions, there is no reliable universal CSV template to copy. Keep a backup of the original schedule and verify the first few rows in a test playlist before committing to a long run.
Schedule the YouTube broadcast and connect the feed
- Prepare the video lineup in the playout layer. Import the CSV only if the chosen scheduler documents support for its format. Otherwise, build the playlist using the tool’s supported method. Check that every media file is available and that the intended order and repeats are correct.
- Create the YouTube event. In YouTube Studio, schedule a live broadcast and set its title, start time, and privacy. Alternatively, use the Live Streaming API to create a broadcast with those properties. The Studio event is the scheduled YouTube event, not the video playlist.
- Configure the incoming stream. Create or select the YouTube stream and obtain its stream URL and stream key. Treat the key as a credential: do not put it in a public CSV, share it, or expose it in a screenshot. Connect the encoder or cloud playout feed using the service’s instructions.
- Bind the broadcast to the stream and test. In the API workflow, bind the broadcast and stream, then use the appropriate testing and live transitions. In Studio, confirm the scheduled event is the intended one and that the encoder feed appears as incoming video before starting the public broadcast.
- Verify reception and schedule behavior. Confirm that YouTube is receiving data and that the correct event is live. API users can retrieve stream status to check whether YouTube is receiving data. Also verify that the playout layer advances through the expected files; a YouTube event being live does not prove the CSV scheduler is following its lineup.
The official implementation sequence and resource details are in the Live Streaming API documentation and the Life of a Broadcast guide. YouTube’s encoder setup is explained in its live streaming Help page.

Plan continuity independently of the broadcast end time
The YouTube API reference says that if a scheduled end time is omitted, YouTube treats the broadcast as continuing indefinitely. That setting describes the event; it does not keep the encoder, playlist worker, computer, or internet connection operating. Continuous delivery still depends on the upstream playback system and its connection to YouTube.
For a local setup, the computer or hardware encoder and its network connection must remain available for the feed to continue. For cloud playout, the provider’s service runs playback on its infrastructure, but CSV handling and interruption recovery depend on the specific product. Confirm its behavior rather than treating an indefinite YouTube broadcast as a continuity guarantee.

Troubleshoot the common failure points
- The scheduled event exists but shows no video: The event schedule does not send a feed by itself. Check that the encoder or playout service is running, connected to the correct stream URL and key, and sending data.
- YouTube receives video, but the wrong broadcast is live: Check that the feed is bound or connected to the intended scheduled event, and confirm the event’s time and privacy settings.
- The playlist ignores, misorders, or rejects CSV rows: The file may not match the product’s required schema, or the product may not support CSV import. Check its current format documentation and the interpretation of row types, dates, and time zones.
- A video is skipped or playback stops: Check for a missing or inaccessible file and inspect the scheduler’s documented behavior for errors, repeats, and overlaps. A YouTube broadcast can remain scheduled or live without the playout layer delivering the intended media.
- The feed drops after starting: Check whether the local encoder or cloud worker is still running and whether it can reach YouTube. YouTube’s stream status can help API users determine whether data is arriving; recovery from an interruption depends on the encoder or service.
Or let it run in the cloud
For a YouTube-only stream made from uploaded videos, StreamNeo offers a cloud alternative to keeping a computer or encoder running at home: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops the uploaded videos from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. You can stream the files as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; it automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. The monthly option is $9.99 per month.
StreamNeo does not document CSV import in the information provided here, so check whether its current workflow accepts your exact CSV before depending on a CSV-driven lineup. See StreamNeo for product details, then start a free first-day trial.
