Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →YouTube’s playlist Loop control repeats ordinary playlist playback; it does not create or repeat a live broadcast. To show prerecorded clips in a YouTube Live stream, send a feed through an encoder or production workflow, then configure the live layouts for horizontal and vertical viewers. YouTube documents those layout options, but its help does not establish an automatic way to rotate separate landscape and portrait uploads from one playlist.
First, separate playlist looping from going live
For ordinary playback, open a YouTube playlist, start it, and select Loop in the playlist controls. That repeats playlist playback for viewers; it is not a YouTube Live broadcast. YouTube’s playlist instructions describe the playback control.
A live stream is a separate production path: a feed is sent to YouTube through an encoder or another supported live method. YouTube defines an encoder as software or hardware that sends a feed to YouTube Live. Enabling Loop on a watch-page playlist does not turn it into that feed. See YouTube’s encoder setup guidance.
Choose the workflow that matches your goal
Repeat a playlist for normal viewing
If viewers should watch a collection of videos on YouTube and have it repeat, use the playlist Loop control. This is not live, and it does not combine landscape and portrait videos into one live broadcast.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Broadcast prerecorded clips as a live stream
If the channel must appear live while prerecorded clips play, use an encoder or production workflow to send the program feed to YouTube Live. Build and repeat the clip sequence in the chosen software only if its current documentation supports that behavior. YouTube’s help pages do not specify how to automate a repeating playlist of prerecorded files in third-party encoder software, or how to alternate separate landscape and portrait uploads automatically.
Set up horizontal and vertical Live layouts
YouTube documents simultaneous horizontal and vertical formats when streaming from Live Control Room: 16:9 horizontal and 9:16 vertical. The vertical output starts as a center crop. YouTube also names three vertical layout choices: center crop, fit to phone width, and stacked. These are layout controls for a live presentation, not a documented mechanism for switching between separate uploaded landscape and portrait playlist items. For current availability and controls, consult YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance.

Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- Center crop: YouTube describes the vertical output as a center crop of the horizontal presentation. Important visual information near the sides may not appear in that crop, so review the vertical preview before broadcasting.
- Fit to phone width: A named vertical layout option in Live Control Room. YouTube’s cited help names the option but does not provide enough detail to claim exact visual behavior for every source.
- Stacked: Another named vertical layout option. Check the preview to confirm how your content appears in the current editor.
For documentary footage, check that titles, faces, subtitles, and other key details remain visible in the vertical preview. A horizontal frame may not translate cleanly to a vertical crop; choose a layout based on what viewers need to see rather than assuming that the two outputs will look identical.
Prepare the channel and stream
- Confirm live eligibility. YouTube says the channel must be verified and must not have live-streaming restrictions during the previous 90 days. If Live is being enabled for the first time, activation may take up to 24 hours. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
- Choose a supported method. YouTube lists mobile, webcam, and encoder methods. An encoder is an option for a more advanced production workflow, not a requirement for every live stream. For prerecorded sequencing, confirm the selected software’s current documentation before relying on automatic looping or orientation changes.
- Configure the live presentation. In Live Control Room, review the horizontal and vertical previews and select the vertical layout that suits the material. Do not assume that choosing a layout will detect, rotate, or substitute portrait files in a playlist.
- Set encoder output carefully. YouTube’s encoder settings list H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 among supported video codecs. YouTube recommends a two-second keyframe frequency and says not to exceed four seconds. Set output quality to suit your available upload bandwidth, leaving headroom rather than using all of it.
- Test before the public broadcast. YouTube advises testing with audio and movement similar to the real stream, then monitoring stream health and messages. Check both layouts and verify that the full clip sequence behaves as expected in the encoder you chose.
- Start the broadcast and monitor it. Watch stream health and the Live Control Room messages while live so you can respond to connection or encoding problems.
Copyright and documentary footage
Before broadcasting clips, confirm you have the rights or permissions needed for the footage, music, images, and other material. A live format does not by itself grant permission to rebroadcast copyrighted content. Also consider whether a channel built around prerecorded material complies with YouTube’s monetization policies if monetization is a goal; a stream’s technical setup does not guarantee policy eligibility.

Troubleshoot common problems
- The playlist repeats, but the channel is not live: You enabled the watch-page playlist Loop control. Use an encoder or supported live method to send a feed to YouTube Live instead.
- The vertical view cuts off important content: The documented default vertical output is a center crop. Review the vertical preview and try another available layout, such as fit to phone width or stacked.
- Live is unavailable: Check channel verification and whether live-streaming restrictions have applied in the previous 90 days. If this is the first activation, allow up to 24 hours.
- The stream is unstable or reports health issues: Check the encoder’s stream-health messages, reduce output demands if upload bandwidth is insufficient, and leave bandwidth headroom. Test again before returning to a public broadcast.
- Clips do not rotate or repeat as expected: YouTube’s documented layout controls do not establish automated alternation of separate landscape and portrait files. Check the selected encoder’s current documentation for playlist and orientation automation; do not assume YouTube’s playlist Loop control handles it.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is a continuous YouTube stream of uploaded videos rather than a camera-based live production, StreamNeo runs the stream from the cloud: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. Each slot streams uploaded material at its original quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card; monthly billing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo plays uploaded videos; it is not a camera-to-live production tool. Start the free day with StreamNeo.
