The playlist Loop control only affects ordinary playback—it does not create a livestream. For Indian exam-preparation videos, choose the workflow based on whether viewers need a live event and confirm you have the rights to stream every item.
Choose playback or an actual livestream

If you only want students to watch lessons again, the first option is simpler. A live broadcast is a separate production: an encoder sends video to YouTube using a stream URL and key, and you need to monitor it while it runs. YouTube’s help documentation does not establish an India-specific exception to these steps.
Loop a playlist for ordinary YouTube playback
- Open a video that belongs to the playlist on YouTube using a desktop browser.
- Expand the playlist box beside or below the video.
- Select Loop. YouTube says the video or playlist will repeat continuously, depending on the selected control.
This makes the playlist repeat for the viewer; it does not send a feed to Live Control Room, create live chat, or publish a live event. The control is useful when a student wants uninterrupted playback, but it is not a way to host a livestream.
Broadcast repeated exam-preparation videos as a live event
1. Confirm that the channel can livestream
YouTube says livestreaming requires a verified channel and no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Check the channel’s current access in YouTube Studio before preparing the event; eligibility or interface details can change.

2. Prepare a computer-based encoder feed
For an encoder-based broadcast, an encoder on a computer sends the video to YouTube using the stream URL and stream key. OBS is one encoder option supported in YouTube’s HLS guidance, but YouTube’s cited documentation does not provide a complete, verified recipe for making a particular OBS version repeat a playlist. Follow the current instructions for your encoder, operating system, and chosen ingestion protocol; do not assume a particular playlist-loop setting applies across versions.
You need a computer capable of running the encoder you choose, but the available YouTube guidance does not establish that you must buy a new or dedicated streaming PC. Check the encoder’s current requirements and test the feed with your existing computer first.

3. Preview and test before starting
Use Live Control Room to check the preview before going live. YouTube recommends testing the stream and monitoring both audio and video quality. Confirm that the video is actually repeating in the outgoing feed, that sound is intelligible, and that the stream is reaching the intended event before relying on it for a study session.
4. Clear rights for every part of the video
Use only recordings and other material you have the necessary rights to stream. That includes lesson footage, music, graphics, and any third-party content included in the videos. YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content; a match can trigger a warning, a placeholder, a temporary interruption, or termination. Even if you hold a license, the rights owner may need to allowlist your channel through Content ID for the live stream to proceed without interruption. YouTube’s live-stream terms require the provider to have the necessary rights.

5. Plan for long sessions and keep a backup
YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. DVR rewind may also be limited or unavailable on streams longer than 12 hours. If you need a record of the session, make a local recording rather than relying on YouTube’s archive; a local backup also protects against a stream that is interrupted.
Common problems and what to check
- The playlist loops, but there is no livestream: the Loop control is for ordinary playback. Set up an encoder feed and start an event in YouTube Live for an actual broadcast.
- You cannot start a stream: verify the channel and check for restrictions. YouTube’s stated requirements include channel verification and no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days.
- The stream is interrupted after a copyright match: check every video and embedded audio, image, or graphic for streaming rights. If licensed material is still matched, ask the rights owner whether your channel must be allowlisted through Content ID.
- The event is missing an archive or rewind: do not rely on capture or DVR for a stream longer than 12 hours. Keep a local recording for sessions where a saved copy matters.
- The repeat behavior is unclear in your encoder: consult the current documentation for that encoder and its version. YouTube’s HLS guidance supports encoder workflows but does not specify a universal playlist-loop recipe.
