A goal bar alone does not collect charitable donations. The exact setup depends on the platform, your channel’s eligibility and your location.
Choose a donation route before adding a goal bar
Start by deciding where donations will actually go. Use a charity fundraising tool that routes donations through the charity platform and explains what receipt donors receive. A tip, subscription, Bits payment or gifted subscription sent to you does not automatically become a charitable donation because you later intend to pass the money on. Twitch distinguishes creator payments from donations made through a charity tool in its charitable donations guidance.
Twitch lists services including betterplace, DonorDrive, JustGiving, Streamlabs Charity and Tiltify as examples of fundraising platforms with streamer tools. That list does not establish that every provider supports every charity, creator, region or overlay. Confirm that your intended charity is available and that the provider offers the campaign and display features you need before announcing the event.
Check the practical fit
- Donation routing and receipts: Confirm which service processes the donation and what confirmation or receipt the donor gets.
- Eligibility and location: Check that you can create a fundraiser for the intended charity from your country and account.
- Progress display and alerts: Find out whether donations update a native goal or whether you must add a widget and link accounts.
- Viewer journey: Check whether viewers can donate on the watch page or must open a separate campaign page.
- Campaign controls: Make sure you can publish, share and test the campaign before going live.
Set up a Streamlabs Charity campaign and goal widget
Streamlabs’ instructions, last updated November 3 and December 24, 2025, describe this workflow. Dashboard labels can change, so check your live account before the event. - Choose the charity: Browse the registered charities available in Streamlabs Charity and select the organization you intend to support.
- Create or sign in to your account: The setup guide describes signing up with email and password or a social login. If you use email, verify the account email as required.
- Create the fundraiser: Choose Fundraise, then enter the campaign name, description, live date and donation goal. Create the campaign.
- Publish and share it: Publish when the campaign is ready, then share its charity tip page. That page is where viewers can donate and see the fundraising total.
- Add the progress widget: In the Streamlabs dashboard, open All Widgets and choose Streamlabs Charity Donation Goal under Goals. Adjust its appearance and save.
- Put the widget on screen: In Streamlabs Desktop, add the goal through the Sources panel as a widget source. In OBS Studio, open the widget settings, copy its URL, add a Browser source, paste the URL, then position and size the source in your scene. Do not show the widget URL on stream.
- Set up charity alerts if you want them: Link your Streamlabs account to the published campaign, then configure the charity alerts in the alert box settings.
Check that the widget is still available
Streamlabs announced that its separately named Twitch Charity Donation Goal widget was scheduled to sunset on April 12, 2026. That is not the same widget as Streamlabs Charity Donation Goal in the setup guide. Because the scheduled sunset date has passed, check the current widget list in your account rather than assuming either widget is available for your setup. Streamlabs’ dated notice is at Important Update on Select Streamlabs Widgets.
Use YouTube Giving if your channel and location are eligible
YouTube Giving provides a native option for eligible channels. YouTube’s YouTube Giving FAQs say eligibility includes being based in an available location, having at least 10,000 subscribers, being in the YouTube Partner Program and not being designated as made for kids. Check the FAQ and the setup tool for current location and channel eligibility; availability can change.

YouTube says the fundraiser’s donate button appears after the start date you specify. For the donate button in mobile live chat, live chat must be enabled and the viewer must see chat in portrait mode. A made-for-kids setting can remove the button. Check the viewing experience before relying on live chat as the only way to donate.
Do not use YouTube Goals as a substitute fundraiser
YouTube’s general Goals guidance explicitly says, “Not a fundraising tool: Avoid using goals to raise money for specific items or expenses.” Use YouTube Giving or a charity fundraising service to collect charitable donations. If you display a separate progress graphic, make clear what it measures and where viewers can donate.

Test the viewer experience before the event
- Open the published donation page as a viewer and confirm the charity, campaign description and goal are correct.
- Check that the donation route is visible and that the goal or fundraiser page displays the expected campaign.
- Preview the stream scene to ensure the widget is readable, positioned correctly and not covering important content.
- Keep the widget URL private; use it only in the source settings.
- Verify the campaign, charity availability, channel eligibility and widget status again close to the event, since platform details can change.
