To add a donation ticker in OBS Studio, configure a ticker with a donation provider, copy its widget URL, then add that URL to your scene as a Browser source. The provider handles donation processing; OBS displays the ticker over your stream.
What you need before setting up a ticker
OBS Studio does not process or receive donations. You need a provider or supported platform fundraising flow to handle donations and supply the on-screen widget. The OBS Project explains this distinction in its donations FAQ. This guide uses Streamlabs because its current instructions document a Donation Ticker widget and show how to add its URL to OBS.
- OBS Studio and the scene where you want the ticker to appear.
- An account with a provider that supports the ticker or activity display you want.
- The provider’s widget URL, copied from its settings.
Set up a Streamlabs Donation Ticker in OBS
1. Find the widget URL in Streamlabs
- Log in to the Streamlabs Dashboard.
- Under Streaming Essentials, open Donation Ticker.
- Locate the Widget URL at the top of the settings page and select Click to Copy Widget URL.
The URL embeds your configured widget. Treat it as private account configuration: do not show it as visible text on stream or share it publicly. Streamlabs’ widget URL instructions describe this dashboard workflow.
2. Add it as a Browser source
- In OBS Studio, select the scene that should display the ticker.
- In Sources, select the + button and choose Browser.
- Name the source so you can identify it later, such as “Donation Ticker.”
- Paste the Streamlabs widget URL into the URL field.
- Set the source width and height, then save.
- In the scene canvas, move and resize the source so it is visible without covering important content.
OBS’s alerts and chat box layout tutorial uses the same general pattern for provider overlays: add a Browser source, enter the provider URL, set dimensions, and place it in the scene. Streamlabs also notes that width, height, and FPS can be adjusted if needed.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
3. Check the scene before going live
- Confirm the source is visible in the correct scene and not hidden behind another source.
- Use the provider’s available preview or test option, if offered in its current interface, to check that the ticker appears as expected.
- Make any design changes in the provider dashboard. Streamlabs says its Tip Ticker settings can be changed through the web dashboard when using software such as OBS rather than Streamlabs Desktop.
What the ticker does—and what it does not
A donation ticker is an on-screen display of supporter activity. It does not create a payment method or route donations by itself. The provider or fundraising platform receives and manages the donations; OBS renders the provider’s overlay through the Browser source.
A ticker is also different from a donation goal. A goal widget shows progress toward a campaign target, while a ticker displays activity. Streamlabs documents its Charity Donation Goal as a separate widget for a published charity campaign; do not substitute that widget if you want an activity ticker.

Using another provider or streaming app
OBS’s overlay tutorial names Streamlabs and StreamElements as examples of providers, but the available official guidance does not establish that StreamElements currently offers the same specific Donation Ticker feature. Before choosing an alternative, check that it supports the exact activity display you need and supplies a widget that your streaming software can render as a browser source.
Streamlabs describes its Tip Ticker as usable in OBS, XSplit, and other compatible streaming software through a browser source. In another app, the menu labels and setup steps may differ; confirm that the app supports browser-source overlays. For console-native streaming without OBS or a compatible broadcast app, do not assume the console software can render a third-party widget URL.

Troubleshoot common ticker problems
The Browser source is blank or missing
- Check that you copied the URL from the correct widget’s settings page.
- Confirm the URL is in a Browser source, not a text or image source.
- Make sure the source is enabled and belongs to the active scene.
The ticker is clipped, too small, or in the wrong place
Adjust the Browser source’s width and height in its settings, then resize or reposition it in the scene canvas. Check the scene preview after each change.
Donations arrive but no activity appears on screen
Check that the provider receiving the donation events is the same provider whose ticker URL you added, and that the ticker source is present in the active scene. This is a practical check based on how provider overlays work, not a guaranteed diagnosis; consult the provider’s current support guidance if the mismatch persists.

Keep a YouTube stream running separately from the ticker
A donation ticker only adds an overlay to a stream being produced by compatible broadcasting software. If your separate goal is to keep a pre-recorded video live on YouTube around the clock, StreamNeo is the cloud option: upload a recording, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It loops the uploaded video without requiring a computer at home to stay on. StreamNeo is for YouTube streams, not camera broadcasts or other platforms.
Or let it run in the cloud
For a pre-recorded YouTube stream, StreamNeo removes the need to keep a computer or home connection running. Each slot streams your upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; it can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card required. Monthly: $9.99 per month.
