To create a gaming montage in Cross Clip, first make at least two Cross Clip clips. Then open My Clips, select the clips to combine, choose Create Montage, set the output options, and start compiling. Streamlabs’ guide, updated October 8, 2025, says Free montages can combine up to three clips and Pro montages up to six; check Cross Clip for current limits before you begin.

What you need before making a montage

Cross Clip assembles clips you have already created in its editor; montage creation is a separate step. Start with at least two clips, made from a Twitch or Kick clip URL or an eligible video file you can upload. Cross Clip also supports adjusting framing, duration, layout, and layers before you compile.

Do not rely on Cross Clip to download videos directly from YouTube. Apple’s App Store version history says that capability was removed in version 2.6.0 on September 17, 2024, following YouTube API changes. Use a source file you are allowed to use or a currently supported import route instead.

How to create gaming clips in Cross Clip

  1. Import footage. Paste a Twitch or Kick clip URL, or upload an eligible video file from your device. The current surfaced Cross Clip plans listing gives upload limits of 100MB for Free and 1GB for Pro; confirm the limit shown for your account before preparing a large file.
  2. Choose the output format. Pick a canvas suited to where you intend to share the clip. The editor supports platform-oriented formats; select one before adjusting the composition so you can see how the footage will fit.
  3. Frame the gameplay and camera. Drag and resize the gameplay and face-camera boxes to keep the important action visible. If the source areas do not fill the canvas, Streamlabs says you can use background blur.
  4. Trim the segment. Adjust the timeline slider to set the duration. Add or arrange layers if needed, then preview the clip; hide the editor borders for a clearer view of the final composition.
  5. Create and save the clip. Finish the editor workflow so the clip appears in My Clips. Repeat these steps until you have at least two clips for the montage.

How to combine clips in a Cross Clip montage

  1. Open My Clips after creating at least two clips.
  2. Select the clips you want to include. On the Free tier, Streamlabs’ guide lists a maximum of three clips per montage; on Pro, it lists up to six.
  3. Choose Create Montage.
  4. Choose the available frame-rate and output-quality settings, then start compilation. Cross Clip’s guide says to select these options before compilation. Its mobile app listing describes 720p and 1080p options; Streamlabs identifies 1080p/60fps export as a Pro feature. Check the options and tier requirements displayed in your account, since listings may change or differ by platform.
  5. Get the finished montage. Streamlabs says it emails a download link after compilation; its mobile app listing also describes downloading or sharing completed clips from the app. Sharing availability can depend on the app and destination.

Free and Pro montage limits

These are the features described in Streamlabs’ guide and surfaced plans listing. Entitlements and purchase terms can change, so verify them in Cross Clip before subscribing or relying on a particular export setting.

Common problems and fixes

  • Create Montage is unavailable. Make sure at least two clips have been created and are visible in My Clips, then select the clips before choosing the montage option.
  • A video will not upload. Check that it is a supported file and within the upload-size limit shown for your tier. The surfaced plans listing states 100MB for Free and 1GB for Pro.
  • The important gameplay or camera is cropped. Revisit the clip in the editor, move or scale the gameplay and camera boxes inside the selected canvas, and preview the composition before saving.
  • You cannot find a YouTube download option. Direct YouTube downloading was removed in app version 2.6.0 on September 17, 2024. Import a permitted source file or use a supported source instead.
  • Your expected resolution or frame rate is missing. Available output choices depend on current tier entitlements and app version. Cross Clip describes 720p and 1080p options in its mobile listing, while Streamlabs lists 1080p/60fps as Pro; confirm the in-app options rather than assuming every account has the same settings.
  • The montage is not ready immediately. Compilation is a processing step. Streamlabs describes an emailed download link and in-app access after compilation, but does not establish a guaranteed completion time.

Use footage you have the right to publish

Before importing or sharing a clip, make sure you have permission to use the gameplay, music, and any other material in it. Cross Clip’s editing tools do not grant rights to copyrighted content. A montage made from clips can still be subject to the rights and platform rules that apply to each source and to the finished upload.

Or let it run in the cloud

Nothing needs to stay on at home; videos stream as uploaded at any quality up to 4K 60fps for one price per slot, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream.
