Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFor most eligible creators, the best setup is a scheduled YouTube livestream with a YouTube Giving fundraiser attached, a webcam or suitable camera, clear audio, a reliable upload connection and a tested event plan. A computer and webcam are enough for a simple presenter-led fundraiser; use an encoder if you need overlays, multiple sources or additional audio and camera hardware. YouTube says expensive equipment is not required.
Check YouTube Giving eligibility before planning the stream
YouTube Giving is not available to every channel or in every location. YouTube lists eligibility requirements that generally include being in a supported location, having at least 10,000 subscribers, participating in the YouTube Partner Program and not being designated as made for kids. YouTube notes that some channels outside the listed criteria may still see access, so check the channel’s Giving tab rather than treating the list as a definitive eligibility test. See YouTube Giving FAQs.
The nonprofit also has to be available in the fundraiser setup tool. YouTube’s supported nonprofit requirements include US 501(c)(3) public-charity status, participation in Google for Nonprofits and opting into online fundraising through GuideStar. Confirm that the organization you intend to support appears in YouTube’s tool before announcing the fundraiser.
Choose a setup that fits the event
| Setup | Best for | What it involves | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Computer webcam | A single presenter, interview or straightforward appeal | A computer and webcam using YouTube’s webcam workflow; prioritize intelligible audio and a stable connection. | Less flexibility for overlays, switching sources and more elaborate production. |
| Encoder-based production | Events with overlays, multiple sources, a separate camera or dedicated microphone | An encoder plus the desired audio and video hardware, connected to YouTube Live Control Room. | More equipment and setup to test; the event depends on the encoder and network working together. |
YouTube supports mobile, webcam and encoder workflows. For a simple computer-led event, a laptop webcam may be sufficient; for more involved production, YouTube recommends professional-grade hardware encoders. These are options, not a requirement to buy professional equipment. See YouTube live streaming tips – Computer and YouTube’s streaming tips.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Keep the production understandable
- Make speech easy to hear. A separate microphone is an optional addition for an encoder setup, not a YouTube requirement.
- Use the simplest production that serves the event. A presenter-led appeal does not need overlays or multiple cameras if they do not improve the viewer experience.
- Use video, music and other material you have permission to use. Do not promise viewers that a donation is tax-deductible or refundable; YouTube says donations are non-refundable.
Create and attach the fundraiser in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Earn > Giving.
- Create a fundraiser, select an available nonprofit and enter the campaign details.
- Schedule the livestream, then attach that scheduled stream to the fundraiser.
- Publish the fundraiser and verify its public watch page. The Donate button appears once the fundraiser has started.
Google for Nonprofits outlines the setup in Set up a YouTube Giving fundraiser. Tell viewers plainly where the Donate control is and that it directs contributions to the selected nonprofit.
Understand what donation features change
YouTube says it pays transaction fees so that 100% of a contribution goes to the nonprofit through its donation partner, Network for Good. Live Chat Donations disable Super Chat and Super Stickers on that stream, and Super Thanks is unavailable on videos with donations. These details are in YouTube Giving FAQs.

Test the complete viewer experience before going live
- Set up the stream at least two hours before the event, as YouTube recommends. Confirm the scheduled event and fundraiser are attached.
- Open the event in Live Control Room and preview the actual video and audio. Check that speech is clear and that the picture is framed and lit well enough for viewers to follow.
- Open the public watch page on a separate device, including a phone, and verify that viewers can reach the event and see the fundraiser information.
- If using an encoder, start it at least 15 minutes before the event. Confirm Live Control Room receives the signal and check any planned scenes, overlays and audio sources.
- If the event uses a backup encoder, test that the player rolls over to it before the event rather than assuming failover will work.
YouTube recommends leaving roughly 20% upload-bandwidth headroom beyond the stream bitrate. Shared networks can reduce the bandwidth available to an individual stream, so avoid treating a speed-test result as guaranteed capacity during the event. The advance timing, headroom and backup guidance are from YouTube’s streaming tips.
If your channel cannot use YouTube Giving
Google for Nonprofits says creators who cannot use YouTube Giving can link to an external fundraiser through an end screen; it names GoFundMe and JustGiving as examples. Check that the platform and charity are suitable and available for your location before directing viewers there. See Fundraise for Nonprofits using YouTube Giving.

Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo is designed for a different use case: it loops uploaded videos to keep a YouTube channel live 24/7. It does not stream a live camera, so it is not a substitute for a presenter-led charity event. If your campaign format is a pre-recorded video loop, the setup is upload the recording, add your YouTube stream key once and go live. The computer can be off while it runs in the cloud; the uploaded video streams as made, up to 4K 60fps, for one flat price per slot, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo or start the free first day.
