The surviving roommates, Dylan Mortensen and Bethany Funke, have not had their exact current whereabouts or daily lives verified in the public reporting available here. Their clearest recent public update came at Bryan Kohberger’s July 23, 2025 sentencing: Mortensen spoke in court, while a friend read Funke’s written statement. Later reports described a possible university transfer for Funke and support needs for Mortensen, but neither report establishes where either woman is now.

What is publicly known about Dylan Mortensen?

Her statement at the July 2025 sentencing

At Kohberger’s July 23, 2025 sentencing, Mortensen addressed the court about the effects of the killings and her efforts to recover. The Associated Press reported that she described panic attacks and persistent fear, while expressing determination to heal. “He may have shattered parts of me but I’m still putting myself back together piece by piece,” she said, according to the Associated Press.

Later reporting about support needs

In August 2025, Us Weekly reported that Mortensen’s aunts had created a fundraiser describing a need for relocation, long-term trauma therapy, and added security and privacy measures. The report said she was grateful for support. Those details describe needs reported by her family; they do not confirm that she moved, began a particular treatment, or lives in a specific place now. Us Weekly’s report is secondary reporting on the fundraiser.

Her written statement

Funke did not attend the sentencing to read her statement herself. A friend read it in court on July 23, 2025. The Associated Press reported that Funke’s statement described grief, fear, online threats, and a long recovery. “I was getting flooded with death threats and hateful messages from people who do not know me at all,” it read, according to the AP account. These are her words as relayed by the outlet, not an independent clinical assessment or a complete account of her life today.

What the transfer report does—and does not—establish

A December 2024 social-media post from a University of Nevada leadership fraternity reportedly nominated Funke as a sweetheart. In August 2025, Us Weekly cited that post in saying she “seemingly transferred” from the University of Idaho to the University of Nevada. That is a qualified secondary report, not confirmation of current enrollment or present-day location. Us Weekly

Why older location references do not answer where they are now

In 2023, an Idaho court dispute over a subpoena ended in an agreement for Funke to be interviewed by defense counsel in Reno, Nevada. The Idaho Statesman described Nevada as her home state at the time. That account concerns an interview arrangement from 2023; it is not evidence that she lives there now. The Idaho Statesman’s report

The killings took place in November 2022 at an off-campus house in Moscow, Idaho. Mortensen and Funke were the two roommates who survived. The available reporting documents their court statements and some later claims about education and support needs, but does not establish either woman’s current address, work, studies, or routine. Claims beyond that should not be treated as confirmed updates.
