The best live streaming software for a business coach depends on the event: for branded public broadcasts and guest interviews, start by evaluating StreamYard; for a registered webinar with a replay and controlled audience participation, compare Restream Live Webinar; for configurable screen-sharing and hardware control, OBS with YouTube Live is a flexible encoder option. These are different event formats, not interchangeable feature checklists.
Choose software by the kind of session you are running
Interactive coaching session
If attendees need to speak or appear on screen, prioritize participant controls and stage management. A public livestream tool may be good for presenting to an audience but less suited to bringing participants into the conversation. Decide in advance whether attendees will ask questions in chat, join on stage, or stay off-camera.
Public broadcast
For a public session distributed to social channels, look for branded layouts, guest handling, and multistreaming. StreamYard’s business materials describe branded streams, guest interviews, webinars or all-hands, recording, and simultaneous distribution. Its pricing page lists different plans and says Core and Advanced are for individual use; businesses with multiple team members should check the separate Business offering and its roles, permissions, and content spaces before choosing.
Registered webinar
If you need sign-up, a webinar audience tier, a replay, or registrant data, evaluate webinar-specific workflows. Restream Live Webinar describes a shared link for registration, the live event, and replay; replay can be disabled, and registrant data can be downloaded as CSV. It is designed around a few presenters and a larger audience, rather than an open video call where everyone participates equally.

StreamYard plan details to check
StreamYard’s current pricing page lists Core with multistreaming to three destinations and up to 10 on-screen participants. Advanced lists eight destinations, up to 15 backstage participants, and On-Air webinars for up to 100 viewers. The page also lists free, Core, Advanced, and Business offerings, with monthly and annual billing; promotions, renewal terms, and custom offers can affect displayed amounts, so check the live pricing page rather than relying on a static quote.
Restream Live Webinar capacity and price
Restream’s product page lists Live Webinar as an add-on to an eligible paid plan: $99/month for up to 100 attendees on Standard or Professional, $299/month for up to 500 attendees on Business, and custom pricing for 1,000 or more. These are vendor-published terms, not independent price estimates; confirm the underlying plan requirement and current capacity before budgeting.

Questions to settle before choosing
- Audience and participation: How many people will watch, and should any of them be able to join on stage?
- Registration and replay: Do you need sign-up, a replay link, a way to disable replay, or downloadable attendee data?
- Destinations: Is the event for one channel or should it be simulcast? If LinkedIn is essential, verify current LinkedIn event and broadcaster requirements: LinkedIn’s broadcast-tool guide is dated and tool compatibility can change.
- Production and guests: Do you need branded layouts, multiple guests, slides, screen sharing, or external audio and video equipment?
- Team and business eligibility: Will several employees manage the stream? Check roles, permissions, content ownership, and whether the plan is suitable for organizational use.
- Cost at actual capacity: Compare the current total cost for the audience size and features you need, including any required base plan or add-on.
- Technical responsibility: Browser-based tools can reduce encoder setup; OBS gives more configuration control but places more setup and monitoring responsibility on the host.
Set up and test a YouTube encoder stream
For a coach choosing the OBS encoder route, use YouTube Live’s current encoder instructions for the exact OBS and YouTube interface labels. The core workflow is to activate live streaming, create or schedule the YouTube event, enter the stream credentials in the encoder, configure the production, and verify the preview before broadcasting.
- Check live-stream eligibility and activation. In YouTube Studio, open the live-streaming workflow and complete any required activation. YouTube’s encoder setup guidance says first-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so do not leave this until the event start.
- Create or schedule the event in YouTube Studio. Set the title, audience, visibility, and other event details. Decide whether the stream should be public, unlisted, or private based on how attendees will access it.
- Copy the YouTube stream key and server details. Treat the key like a password: do not show it on screen, send it to guests, or publish it. Use the stream key and server information shown for the event in YouTube Studio, and avoid reusing a key if you are unsure who can access it.
- Connect OBS as the encoder. Enter the YouTube-provided stream details in OBS using its streaming settings. YouTube’s cited encoder guidance identifies OBS as an option but does not prescribe one universal set of OBS menu labels or settings for every version.
- Build the scene and check audio. Add the webcam, screen or slides, and any external microphone or camera you plan to use. Monitor the audio meter and listen to a private test recording or preview to catch muted inputs, echo, clipping, or a desktop-audio feed that should not be present.
- Test before the scheduled session. YouTube recommends testing the encoder and previewing the stream before going live. Check the image, audio, screen sharing, and internet connection; leave bandwidth headroom rather than planning to use all available upload capacity.
- Start the encoder, then verify YouTube’s preview. Confirm that YouTube receives a stable picture and sound before starting or announcing the public event. Keep the event dashboard visible so you can notice warnings while presenting.
- End the stream deliberately. Stop the broadcast from the encoder and confirm the live event has ended in YouTube Studio. Review the replay and its visibility if you intend to share it afterward.
Start with the equipment you have
YouTube supports computer webcam streaming and says expensive equipment is not required to get started. A laptop webcam and usable microphone may be enough for a first session. Before buying accessories, test the room, framing, lighting, voice clarity, and upload connection. An external microphone or webcam is optional; encoder workflows can use external audio and video hardware when your production needs justify it.

Copyright, privacy, and replay checks
- Use material you have rights to show. Slides, music, clips, and guest contributions can create copyright issues. Do not assume that having access to a song or video for personal viewing gives you the right to broadcast it.
- Tell guests and attendees what will be recorded. If the event will be replayed or clipped, explain that before recording and follow the rules that apply to your location and audience.
- Check replay access and visibility. A live session can become a lasting recording. Review who can see the replay and whether registration details or participant names appear on screen.
- Keep credentials private. A stream key can let someone transmit to your channel. Share access only with people who need it and use the event-specific YouTube details.
Troubleshooting before and during a session
YouTube does not show an incoming stream
Check that live streaming is activated, the event is the one currently selected, and OBS has the matching server and stream key. Re-enter credentials from YouTube Studio if they may be incorrect or exposed. First-time activation may take up to 24 hours according to YouTube’s encoder setup guidance.
The preview is delayed, unstable, or drops
Test upload capacity and leave headroom, as YouTube’s streaming tips recommend. Close other applications or network activity competing for bandwidth, reduce the encoder workload if the computer is struggling, and run another test before the audience arrives.

Viewers cannot hear the coach or slides
Check the selected microphone and desktop-audio inputs in OBS, confirm the audio meters move while speaking, and listen to a test. If guests can hear an echo, check for duplicate microphone feeds or speakers feeding back into the microphone.
Slides or screen sharing are missing
Confirm the correct display or application is captured in the OBS scene and that the source is visible. Preview the scene after changing windows or displays; a source can remain configured while capturing the wrong screen.

A guest cannot join or the webinar capacity is not enough
Confirm the guest workflow and plan limits before the session. For Restream, check the selected Live Webinar tier and any base-plan eligibility; its listed capacities are attendee limits, not a promise that any number of presenters can join on stage.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the business need is a 24/7 YouTube channel looping uploaded coaching videos rather than a live, camera-led session, StreamNeo is a different kind of tool: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops the uploaded video from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. Each slot streams the uploaded file as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; YouTube-drop recovery is automatic. The first day is free with no card. Monthly is $9.99 per month. This is for uploaded video on YouTube, not a camera-based coaching session.
