What is The Truth About Jim about?
Warner Bros. Discovery describes the series as following amateur investigator Sierra Barter as she confronts family secrets alongside her mother, Shannon, and grandmother, Judy. The official synopsis calls Mordecai the women’s husband, stepfather, and step-grandfather, respectively.
Warner Bros. Discovery announced the Max Original on February 1, 2024, with a premiere date of February 15. Skye Borgman directed the series; the release credits Investigation Discovery, Imagine Documentaries, and Freak Magnet in the presentation and production. Apple TV catalogs it as a 2024 U.S. documentary/crime series and lists Discovery Global Crimes as its studio.
Was Jim Mordecai a serial killer?
The series’ official materials do not answer that question as an established fact. They frame it as the central question Sierra and her family pursue. Episode summaries describe family accounts, a possible connection to unsolved murders, and efforts to assemble evidence; those descriptions do not independently verify the alleged crimes or prove Mordecai’s involvement.

That distinction matters in a true-crime story built around a family investigation. Testimony, clues, forensic material, and verified records are different kinds of evidence. The available official summaries do not provide enough detail to assess how the series distinguishes among them, what any DNA work could establish, or whether law enforcement reached a finding. A responsible account should not treat the allegation as a verdict.

It is a four-episode series. Warner Bros. Discovery’s episode descriptions show a progression from interviews and family history toward a possible murder connection, a search for family evidence, and an attempt to bring material to law enforcement.

Warner Bros. Discovery announced the series as a Max Original and gave February 15, 2024 as its premiere date. A Hulu catalog search result also lists one season with four episodes, though a listing is not a guarantee of current access.
