Restream’s playlist feature can schedule a finite sequence of prerecorded videos to air on YouTube. It is not a continuous, endlessly looping channel: a playlist is limited to 24 hours and 40 video entries, and consecutive playlists are separate broadcasts with a two-minute gap. To set one up, choose Pre-recorded livestream → Playlist, arrange and preview the videos, then schedule the event and select your connected YouTube channel.
What Restream’s playlist feature does—and does not do
A Restream playlist packages prerecorded clips into a scheduled broadcast. It is useful for planned documentary blocks, themed programming, or a finite event that should begin automatically at a chosen time. It does not create a permanently running YouTube stream: playlists cannot loop, and adjacent playlists remain separate streams with a two-minute buffer, according to Restream’s documentation.
Restream documents a maximum of 24 hours per playlist and 40 video entries. A repeated clip counts as another entry. If you need repetition, you can manually duplicate clips in the sequence—for example, A, B, C, A, B, C—provided the playlist stays within the entry cap.
Before you build the playlist
Confirm YouTube access
YouTube live streaming must be enabled for the channel. Restream says the connected account must own the channel; access as a manager or editor alone is not sufficient. For a new YouTube channel, Restream’s activation guidance says to verify a phone number and wait 24 hours before the first livestream. Check activation before setting a scheduled start time. Check access, library capacity, and resolution
Restream’s playlist documentation places the feature in its paid Upload & Stream add-on tiers. The guide published July 25, 2026 lists the following plan details; these are Restream-published figures, not independent tests or guaranteed current checkout terms. Confirm the available plan and limits before purchasing.

Compare the total length of the videos you plan to upload with the library capacity, and choose a resolution ceiling that suits your source files and delivery needs. The documented 24-hour playlist maximum and 40-entry cap are separate from the listed library capacities.

Review the video rights and YouTube policies
Only schedule videos you have the right to use. A prerecorded playlist is still a YouTube livestream, so rights to music, footage, narration, and other included material matter. Check YouTube’s current copyright and livestream policies, and do not assume that a video being available elsewhere online grants permission to rebroadcast it.
Create and schedule a YouTube playlist in Restream
- Open the playlist workflow. From the Restream home screen, choose Pre-recorded livestream, then Playlist. Restream says you can reopen a previous playlist for reuse.
- Select or upload your videos. Choose videos already in your library or upload files, then select Next.
- Arrange the sequence. Drag clips into the intended order. Use Add Video to include more files or a countdown. Keep the total to 40 entries or fewer and the playlist to 24 hours or less.
- Customize the presentation. Configure any available designs, captions, or QR codes you want included.
- Preview or schedule. Preview the result, or choose Schedule and set the start time. Restream says a scheduled playlist starts automatically at that time.
- Create the YouTube event. When setting up the event, select Playlist as the format, enter the event details, enable the YouTube destination, and create the event. Make sure the intended connected YouTube channel is selected.

Plan for playlist endings, repeats, and long streams
When the playlist finishes
A playlist does not restart automatically. To repeat material within one playlist, duplicate the clips in the desired order before going live, while staying under the 40-entry limit. Editing is also limited by timing: Restream says you can arrange, add, or remove videos before the playlist starts; once it is broadcasting, only graphics and chat can be edited.
When scheduling back-to-back playlists
Restream says consecutive playlists are separate streams with a two-minute buffer, rather than one seamless broadcast. Treat them as distinct scheduled programs and account for the gap in your YouTube schedule.

Do not confuse playlist looping with video-event looping
Restream separately documents a way to loop an individual prerecorded video up to 10 times, for a maximum 40-hour stream. That is a video-event feature, not a playlist capability; the individual-video limits do not make a playlist loop. See the Restream looping guide.
Keep YouTube archiving in mind
Restream’s YouTube streaming guide says YouTube has no stream-duration limit but archives only streams under 12 hours. This is Restream’s description, not a guarantee about your channel’s archive behavior. Treat whether the event can air and whether its full recording will be archived as separate questions; do not rely on a stream longer than 12 hours being archived in full. Encoder settings if you are also sending a direct feed
Restream’s YouTube guide reproduces these recommended encoder settings. They matter when configuring an encoder feed; the playlist workflow itself is based on uploaded prerecorded files. YouTube settings can change, so consult current YouTube documentation before configuring a direct encoder stream.

Troubleshooting common playlist problems
- You cannot connect or select the YouTube channel: Confirm live streaming is enabled, the connected account owns the channel, and the intended channel is selected in the event setup. A newly activated channel may need the phone verification and 24-hour wait described in Restream’s activation guide.
- The playlist will not accept another clip: Check both limits: no more than 40 entries and no more than 24 hours in playlist duration. Duplicate clips count as entries.
- The playlist ends instead of restarting: That is expected; playlists do not loop. Duplicate the clips before the broadcast if a repeat sequence is suitable and fits the entry cap.
- The next scheduled playlist does not follow immediately: Restream documents a two-minute buffer between separate playlists. Schedule with that transition in mind.
- You need to change the video order after the stream starts: Restream says video arrangement and additions or removals are available before the playlist goes live. During the broadcast, its documented editable items are graphics and chat.
- You expect a full YouTube archive of a long event: Restream reports an under-12-hour archive threshold. Do not assume a longer stream will be preserved in full; plan a shorter event if a complete archive is important.
