Those steps depend on the encoder and startup settings on your PC, so you need to configure and test them separately.
What YouTube scheduling does—and does not do
A scheduled event creates a YouTube watch page that you can share, and viewers can set reminders. When it is time to broadcast, an encoder still has to send video and audio to YouTube. YouTube’s documented scheduling workflow does not promise to restart a local encoder or restore playlist playback after a PC reboot. YouTube’s live-stream scheduling guidance describes the event setup, not local reboot automation.
Think of this as two separate jobs: YouTube schedules the event; your PC and encoder must start the playlist and connect to the event. The exact startup procedure varies by encoder and operating system, so do not assume the playlist will reopen at the right position or that the encoder will reconnect on its own.
Check channel eligibility and prepare the event

Confirm live streaming is enabled for your channel. YouTube says the channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. If you have not streamed before, allow time for access to become available.

In YouTube Studio, select Create > Go Live, then open Manage > Schedule stream. Reuse settings from a previous event or create a new stream. Set the title, privacy, and scheduled time, then save the event.

Copy the event’s watch-page URL if you want to share it so viewers can visit the page and set reminders. Scheduling the page does not send the broadcast by itself.
Configure the encoder and protect the stream key
In Live Control Room, get the stream URL and stream key and enter them in the encoder you use for the playlist. YouTube describes stream keys as “like your YouTube stream’s password and address.” Treat the key as a credential: do not publish or share it casually. YouTube’s live stream settings guidance covers stream keys and related settings.

A custom reusable key can simplify repeated broadcasts; confirm that the encoder is configured to use the intended key.

If you reset the key, replace the old value in the encoder. A changed key left in the local setup can prevent the encoder from connecting.

Set the encoder’s playlist source and its startup behavior using the controls available in that encoder and your operating system. YouTube does not document one universal Windows startup procedure or guarantee that a playlist resumes at its previous position after a restart.
Set up and test recovery after a reboot
Do not wait until the scheduled broadcast to find out whether the PC can recover. Run a full reboot test on the actual machine, using the same account, files, encoder, and network you plan to use.

Arrange for the PC to sign in, or for the necessary processes to launch in the way your setup requires. Configure the encoder and playlist to open after reboot using their own settings or your operating system’s available startup controls.

Restart the PC and verify that it signs in or reaches the state needed to run the broadcast processes. If login is required, determine how that requirement affects unattended operation.

Check that the playlist opens, plays the correct video, and starts at the intended point. If your content is meant to loop, verify that the loop actually continues after the restart.

Confirm the encoder connects to YouTube using the correct stream URL and key, and that both video and audio are reaching Live Control Room.

Check that the scheduled event shows a preview and can be taken live as intended. YouTube advises checking the preview before starting the stream; its live-streaming tips recommend setting up an encoder at least two hours before the event and starting it at least 15 minutes ahead.

Test the failure path too. YouTube recommends stopping the primary encoder or disconnecting its Ethernet cable to confirm that a configured backup encoder takes over. This checks encoder failover; it does not prove that your playlist resumes after a PC reboot, which requires the separate reboot test above.
Monitor the broadcast and understand the archive limit
During the stream, monitor stream health and check that any local recording or archive you rely on is actually being created. YouTube’s encoder guide says encoder-based streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived. That limit is not a guarantee that a local recording exists, and longer streams should not be assumed to archive automatically. See YouTube’s encoder streaming guide.
Common reboot and connection problems

The event page exists, but there is no preview. The scheduled event is not a broadcast source. Check that the playlist is playing, the encoder is running, and it is sending to the right stream URL and key.

The encoder opens but will not connect. Verify the stream URL and key. If the key was reset, update the encoder with the replacement. Also check that live streaming is enabled for the channel.

The encoder connects, but the wrong video or position appears. The playlist’s restart and position behavior is controlled locally. Adjust the playlist or encoder settings and repeat the reboot test; YouTube scheduling does not restore the position.

The PC reboots but nothing starts. Check whether the expected user session is active and whether the encoder and playlist are configured to launch in that state. The appropriate controls differ by operating system and encoder.

A backup encoder does not take over. Confirm it is configured for the event, then test it by stopping the primary encoder or disconnecting its network connection. A backup encoder test does not validate playlist recovery.

The planned stream is longer than 12 hours. YouTube’s automatic archive guidance for encoder-based streams applies to streams under 12 hours. Make a separate recording plan if you need a reliable copy beyond that limit.

Choose between a local PC and cloud playout
A local PC and encoder give you direct control, but the playlist and encoder depend on that computer, its power, its startup configuration, and its internet connection.
