YouTube Live Redirect is a handoff, not a way to keep prerecorded video broadcasting. When a live stream ends, it can send viewers to a Premiere or another channel’s live stream, where autoplay moves them to the destination. For a continuous prerecorded YouTube loop, use a service documented for 24/7 playback: StreamNeo is the first option to consider, and YouTube’s verified encoder list also names Gyre. For a finite scheduled video, YouTube Premieres, Restream, or StreamYard may fit better.
What Live Redirect does—and what it does not do
YouTube Live Redirect sends viewers from an ending livestream to a Premiere or another channel’s live stream. YouTube says, “Once your live stream ends, autoplay will move your viewers to the Premiere or live stream of your choice.” It does not create or host a continuous prerecorded broadcast. YouTube Help: How to use YouTube Live Redirect.
To send a redirect, YouTube currently requires the channel to have more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes. Set it up in YouTube Studio in the stream’s customization and Redirect controls. If the destination is another channel’s live stream, that channel must allow redirects. YouTube advises setting up the Premiere before the original stream and telling viewers they may need to wait a few seconds for their screens to reload.
Choose an alternative by the broadcast you need
| Need | Best-documented route | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Keep prerecorded video continuously live on YouTube | StreamNeo or Gyre | StreamNeo runs uploaded videos and playlists from the cloud; YouTube’s verified encoder listing describes Gyre as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 prerecorded YouTube streaming. Check each service’s current terms and capabilities before choosing. |
| Schedule one finite prerecorded event | YouTube Premiere, Restream, or StreamYard | Premiere is YouTube-native. Restream and StreamYard document scheduled playback, but their cited documentation does not establish a continuous 24/7 loop. |
| Hand viewers to another YouTube event when a live show ends | YouTube Live Redirect | It performs a viewer handoff after the original broadcast; it is not a streaming encoder or continuous loop. |
| Run a cloud live-video workflow | Upstream, after confirming the exact use case | YouTube calls it a cloud studio for 24/7 live video, but that description does not specifically confirm prerecorded looping. |
| Produce a live show that includes prerecorded footage | Encoder or production-studio workflow | YouTube describes encoders as software or standalone hardware for advanced production. This is a production workflow, not necessarily an unattended loop. |

For a continuous prerecorded YouTube stream
1. StreamNeo: cloud playback for uploaded videos
StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded recordings or a playlist. Upload the video, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live; playback loops in the cloud, so your computer and home internet do not have to stay on. It is YouTube-only and plays uploaded videos rather than going live from a camera.
Each slot includes one always-on stream, 10 GB of storage per slot pooled across active slots, playlists and 24/7 looping, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and StreamNeo team support. Videos stream as uploaded at any quality up to 4K 60fps, with no re-encoding or quality tiers; the same features apply across plans, whose difference is billing length. The first day is free with no card, once per account. UPI and cards are accepted in India; card checkout is available worldwide. For five or more slots, contact support.

2. Gyre: a YouTube-listed 24/7 prerecorded-stream tool
YouTube’s verified encoder listing describes Gyre as a cloud-based service designed for 24/7 streaming of prerecorded videos to YouTube. That makes it a documented match for continuous prerecorded playback. The listing does not establish current pricing, reliability, support, plan limits, or rights workflows; confirm those details with Gyre before committing. YouTube’s listing is not an endorsement. For a finite scheduled prerecorded event
YouTube Premiere
A Premiere is a YouTube-native way to present a prerecorded video as a scheduled viewing event. It is also a possible Live Redirect destination. Use it when viewers should gather for a bounded video release, not when the requirement is an unbroken 24/7 loop. For redirect setup and eligibility, see YouTube’s Live Redirect instructions.
Restream
Restream documents scheduling a video file or playlist to start automatically at a set time. Scheduling is available on all plans; its help page says free users have Restream branding on the event thumbnail. It supports multichannel events, although some destinations require a manual start even when the event is scheduled. These documented features concern scheduled events, not an uninterrupted 24/7 loop. Check current destination requirements and plan details in Restream’s prerecorded video scheduling help.

StreamYard
StreamYard documents automatic scheduled playback of uploaded prerecorded videos. Its help page lists maximum durations of two hours on Core, four hours on Advanced, and eight hours on Teams and Business. It says paid-plan prerecorded broadcasts stream at up to 1080p. Automatic prerecorded playback cannot be controlled through the normal studio for overlays and other media assets, and these broadcasts are no longer automatically saved to the StreamYard library. Those limits make it a possible fit for a finite scheduled event, not a documented continuous-stream replacement. Plan terms may change; check StreamYard’s prerecorded video help page.

Plan for archives, monetization, and rights
Do not rely on a long livestream as your complete archive
YouTube says it can automatically archive livestreams shorter than 12 hours, but warns that “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” If every hour matters, keep a separate recording or divide the schedule into events that fit YouTube’s archive behavior, then verify the current rules. YouTube Help: Archive live streams.
Review monetization policy for repetitive content
YouTube’s monetization policies apply to live streams. Monetized content should be original and authentic, rather than mass-produced or repetitive. On July 15, 2025, YouTube clarified that it renamed “repetitious content” to “inauthentic content.” That clarification does not mean every repeat or loop is automatically prohibited; assess the channel and the actual content against the full policy. YouTube channel monetization policies.
Clear rights for the material and intended use
YouTube’s livestream terms require creators to hold the necessary rights to streamed material, including applicable music licensing rights, and to follow Community Guidelines and applicable law. Confirm that your rights cover the specific use and territory before streaming prerecorded video. YouTube Terms of Service.
Quick Recap
Questions to settle before choosing
- Is this truly continuous? A scheduled event that ends after one video is not an always-on loop.
- Where does playback run? A cloud-hosted stream avoids keeping a local encoder running; a hands-on production workflow requires operating the production setup.
- Do you need multichannel distribution? Restream documents multichannel scheduled events, but some destinations may require a manual start.
- What duration, quality, and production controls are required? Compare plan-specific event limits, output quality, overlay controls, and playlist behavior; the services’ cited documentation does not provide an apples-to-apples comparison.
- Does the archive matter? A continuous stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured by YouTube.
- Are the content and music rights cleared? A prerecorded source still has to meet livestream rights and policy requirements.
