The loop setting only repeats media; it does not start a live broadcast. For 4K60, YouTube’s current encoder guidance recommends 50 Mbps for H.264 or 35 Mbps for AV1/H.265, plus a stable connection and a two-second keyframe interval.
Before you set up the loop
- Confirm live access. The channel must be verified and must not have a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. First-time live activation can take up to 24 hours. Check the current requirements in YouTube’s encoder setup guide.
- Clear rights for every element. Confirm that you can publicly broadcast both the musical composition and the specific recording, along with any artwork or video shown. A devotional, traditional, or Hindi song is not automatically free to use. YouTube’s livestream terms make the streamer responsible for necessary rights, which can involve artists, labels, publishers, and other royalty participants.
- Check Content ID arrangements. A license may not prevent an interruption if the rights holder’s material is detected. If the recording is managed through Content ID, ask the rights holder to allowlist your channel before relying on the license. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
- Check sustained performance, not just headline specifications. A 4K60 encode needs both enough encoding capacity and sustained upload bandwidth. The figures below are YouTube’s ingestion recommendations, not a guarantee that a particular PC, GPU, encoder, or internet plan will work.
Choose how to loop your devotional videos
One video file: OBS Media Source
In OBS, add a Media Source to your scene, select the local video file, and enable Loop. When playback reaches the end, the source starts again. This is the simplest setup for repeating one bhajan, kirtan, Gurbani, or other devotional recording.
Several files: OBS VLC Video playlist
For a sequence of local files, add a VLC Video source, choose the files in the order you want, and enable Loop Playlist. This source requires VLC to be installed. OBS notes that 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC. See the OBS Media Sources guide for the source controls.
Before broadcasting, play through the end of the list and verify that the next item begins as expected. Check that each file has usable audio and picture, and that the playlist contains only material you have permission to broadcast.

Set YouTube’s 4K60 encoder values
These are YouTube’s current published recommendations for the incoming stream. They describe what the encoder sends to YouTube; YouTube transcodes live video for different devices and network conditions, so they do not ensure every viewer receives 4K.
| Setting | Recommended value |
|---|---|
| Video size and frame rate | 3840 Ă— 2160, progressive, 60 fps |
| H.264 video bitrate | 50 Mbps recommended; 14 Mbps minimum |
| AV1 or H.265/HEVC video bitrate | 35 Mbps recommended; 10 Mbps minimum |
| Rate control | CBR |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds recommended; no more than 4 seconds |
| Audio | AAC or MP3; 128 Kbps stereo; 44.1 kHz stereo |
| Transport | RTMP or RTMPS; YouTube recommends RTMPS for encrypted transport |
| SDR colour | Rec. 709, 8-bit |
| Latency at 4K | Normal latency; low-latency improvement is unavailable at 4K |
Use a codec your encoder supports. The lower bitrate minimums are not the recommended targets for best quality; choose a rate your system can sustain reliably. YouTube lists these values in its encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions guide. Match the encoder’s output to the actual file and settings rather than assuming a source file’s label means the outgoing stream uses the same format.

Connect OBS to YouTube Live Control Room
- Open YouTube Studio and select Go Live. Create a stream or select the stream you intend to use. You can set up stream details and visibility in Manage live stream settings.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key. In OBS, open Settings → Stream, choose the appropriate YouTube connection method, and enter the stream URL and key if prompted. Follow the current YouTube and OBS interface if labels or connection options differ.
- Keep the key private. YouTube describes the stream key as a password and address for the stream. Do not share it or show it in a public screen recording. Use a custom key only if you need to reuse a particular setup.
- Start the encoder and wait for the incoming preview. In YouTube Live Control Room, confirm that the picture and sound arrive and inspect the stream health status and any messages. Starting OBS sends a feed; it does not necessarily make the YouTube broadcast public by itself.
For an overview of creating an encoder-based broadcast, see YouTube’s create-a-live-stream guide.
Test before making the stream public
- Set the broadcast to private or unlisted for the test, as appropriate for your channel and stream setup.
- Use representative audio and moving imagery from the actual devotional playlist. A still image or short test clip may not reveal the same encoder or network problems as the full loop.
- Preview the image and listen for missing, distorted, or out-of-sync audio. Confirm that the loop or playlist restarts correctly.
- Watch YouTube’s stream health indicator and messages while the test runs. Test upload speed and leave 20% upload bandwidth headroom, as YouTube recommends in its streaming tips.
- Only schedule or start the public broadcast after the picture, sound, connection, loop, and rights checks pass.
At 4K, plan for normal latency rather than expecting low-latency mode. Archive availability and behavior depend on the stream configuration and YouTube’s limits; this setup does not guarantee indefinite archival. See YouTube’s live-streaming overview.

Troubleshoot common 4K60 loop problems
YouTube does not show an incoming preview
- Check that the encoder is running and that OBS has the correct stream URL and current stream key.
- Confirm the channel is eligible for live streaming and that first-time activation has completed.
- Check for a typo or a hidden space in the stream details; keep the key private and replace it if it may have been exposed.
The stream health indicator reports a weak or unstable connection
- Verify sustained upload capacity at the encoder’s selected bitrate, not just a brief speed-test peak.
- Reduce competing network traffic and retain YouTube’s recommended 20% upload headroom.
- If the connection cannot reliably sustain the recommended bitrate, reduce the outgoing quality or bitrate and test again rather than continuing with a feed that repeatedly drops frames.
The image stutters, drops frames, or the encoder struggles
- Check OBS’s encoder and rendering statistics during a representative test. Confirm the machine can sustain 3840 × 2160 at 60 fps; no universal minimum PC specification is established by YouTube’s bitrate guidance.
- Try a supported codec and bitrate the available hardware can encode consistently. A lower recommended upload rate for AV1/H.265 does not itself guarantee the encoder can produce it smoothly.
- Confirm the file’s frame rate, resolution, and output settings; test the entire playback path, including transitions between playlist items.
The playlist stops instead of repeating
- For one file, open the Media Source properties and check Loop.
- For several files, confirm the source is VLC Video, the playlist contains the intended local files, and Loop Playlist is enabled.
- Check that VLC is installed in the architecture matching OBS; 64-bit OBS needs 64-bit VLC.
The stream is interrupted or flagged for copyright
- Review YouTube’s notice and identify the specific detected material.
- Do not assume that a general license clears the recording for live use or prevents automated interruption. Confirm the license covers the composition, master recording, territories, live broadcast, and any archive or VOD use involved.
- For Content ID-managed material, ask the rights holder to allowlist your channel. Remove or replace material if you cannot confirm permission and the necessary platform arrangements.
