You can send a bhajan playlist to YouTube Live with FFmpeg, but 4K at 60 frames per second depends on the source files, FFmpeg build, encoder hardware and upload connection. For SDR H.264, YouTube’s current English guidance recommends 50 Mbps video bitrate at 2160p60 (14 Mbps minimum), CBR and a two-second keyframe interval. Prepare compatible media, pace file playback in real time, test the complete chain, and monitor YouTube’s Live Control Room before and during the broadcast.
What you need before starting
- A set of bhajan video files you have the right to stream, and a plan for the order and repeat behavior.
- A local FFmpeg build with the input, encoder and output support your chosen workflow requires. FFmpeg options and behavior can vary by build and version.
- A computer or hardware encoder that can sustain the selected 4K/60 encoding workload in real time, if the files need encoding. A 4K/60 output setting cannot make lower-resolution or lower-frame-rate source footage contain more detail.
- A stable internet connection with enough measured upload capacity for the full stream bitrate plus headroom.
- A YouTube channel able to go live, access to its Live Control Room, and its stream key. Keep the key private; never put a real key in a public command, screenshot or article.
This workflow targets a pre-recorded playlist sent as a live broadcast—not a camera feed. YouTube’s encoder guidance lists frame rates up to 60 fps and RTMP/RTMPS ingest; it recommends RTMPS. YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrate guidance and streaming tips are the references to check for current platform requirements.
Choose 4K/60 settings for the actual codec and color format
The figures below are YouTube’s encoder recommendations as accessed in 2026, not audience-performance statistics. The bitrate figures are for the video encoder; budget for audio as well. Do not treat a recommended bitrate as a guarantee that a particular computer or network will work.
| Target | YouTube guidance |
|---|---|
| H.264, 2160p at 60 fps | 50 Mbps recommended; 14 Mbps minimum |
| AV1 or H.265/HEVC, 2160p at 60 fps | 35 Mbps recommended; 10 Mbps minimum |
| Video bitrate mode | CBR recommended |
| Keyframes | Two-second interval recommended; no more than four seconds |
| Audio | AAC or MP3 accepted in the listed RTMP/RTMPS settings; advanced guidance lists stereo at 44.1 kHz and 128 kbps |
| SDR color | Rec. 709, 8-bit |
H.264 is a straightforward target when compatibility is the priority. AV1 and HEVC have lower listed 4K/60 bitrate recommendations, but select one only if your FFmpeg build, encoder and YouTube ingest path support it. HDR is a separate configuration: YouTube’s general encoder guidance lists H.265 for HDR and 10-bit depth. Do not combine HDR settings with an SDR output target.

Prepare and inspect the bhajan files
Check every file, not just the first
Inspect each file’s video resolution, frame rate, codec, aspect ratio, audio codec, sample rate and channel layout. Confirm that audio is present and that the intended encoder can read the file. Look for files with different stream layouts, frame rates or parameters: those differences can complicate concatenation and cause timestamp or transition problems.
If a source is below 2160p or 60 fps, converting it to those output values may be necessary for a 2160p60 ingest target, but upscaling does not restore missing detail and frame-rate conversion does not recreate genuine captured motion. Decide whether that trade-off is acceptable before encoding the full playlist.

Build a deliberate playlist
FFmpeg’s concat demuxer can join a sequence of media files when their streams and parameters are compatible. The FFmpeg documentation also describes -re, which reads an input at its native rate; real-time pacing is relevant when sending a file-based source to a live service. Neither feature alone guarantees an endlessly looping, seamless playlist. Confirm the behavior with your installed FFmpeg version and representative files before relying on it for a long broadcast. See the FFmpeg documentation.
Stream copy avoids re-encoding, but it is appropriate only when the playlist’s media streams and parameters match the required output. If they do not, re-encoding may be needed, which adds processing demand—especially at 4K/60. Do not assume that files can be concatenated correctly just because they are in one folder or share a filename extension.

Configure YouTube Live and FFmpeg
- Open YouTube Live Control Room. Create or schedule the live stream and choose the appropriate visibility and event settings. Copy the ingest URL and stream key privately. Do not share the key or paste it into material that others can see.
- Choose one target. For an SDR H.264 broadcast, use a 2160p60 output target, CBR video encoding and a two-second keyframe interval. Use the applicable YouTube bitrate guidance above, then account for audio and network headroom. If using AV1 or HEVC, first confirm support in the installed FFmpeg build and the YouTube ingest path.
- Set audio and color intentionally. Use a supported audio codec and the relevant stereo settings from YouTube’s guidance. For SDR, target Rec. 709 and 8-bit color. Use HDR-specific requirements only when the source, encoder and ingest configuration are genuinely HDR.
- Prepare the file input and pacing. Use the concat demuxer for compatible playlist files and real-time input pacing where appropriate. Specify loop behavior only after checking the exact FFmpeg version and command structure you will run; validate timestamps and transitions in a test.
- Send to the recommended protocol. Configure RTMPS if supported by your workflow. Substitute your own stream key privately; do not publish a real key in a command example or leave it exposed in a shared shell history.
There is no universal FFmpeg command that can safely be asserted for every playlist, FFmpeg build, encoder and ingest setup. No command for this workflow is presented here as tested. Before using a command, verify its options against your installed FFmpeg documentation and test it with the actual source files and destination settings.
Check upload capacity and run a preflight
YouTube advises that total stream bitrate must remain below available upload bandwidth and recommends leaving 20% room. Measure outbound upload capacity rather than relying on a download-speed figure. Plan for the combined video and audio bitrate, and avoid depending on a shared or unstable connection if possible. A wired connection may be useful where practical, but YouTube does not require a particular cable or connection type.

- Test representative material. Include both audio and motion; a static or silent test may not reveal the problems that occur in the real playlist.
- Start the encoder before the event. Allow time for YouTube to receive the feed and show its preview.
- Inspect the Live Control Room preview. Confirm the received resolution and frame rate, picture, aspect ratio and audio. Check for dropped frames and stream-health warnings.
- Monitor through the broadcast. Watch stream health and listen for audio issues; do not assume a clean initial preview means the connection or encoding will remain stable.
YouTube’s guidance is direct: “Make sure to test before you start your live stream.” Its streaming tips also recommend setup well in advance and continuous monitoring of audio and video quality.

| Symptom | Likely cause to check | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube reports unstable stream health or dropped frames | Total bitrate is too close to or above available upload capacity, or the connection is unstable | Measure upload capacity, preserve YouTube’s recommended 20% margin above total stream bitrate, reduce the target bitrate if needed, and test again. |
| The stream does not arrive or YouTube shows no preview | Incorrect ingest URL or stream key, unsupported protocol/codec combination, or encoder failure | Check the Live Control Room details and FFmpeg output; verify the selected protocol and codec are supported by your build and ingest path. Replace an exposed key. |
| Output is not 2160p60 | Input or output settings, encoder capability, or YouTube ingest negotiation does not match the target | Check source properties, FFmpeg output configuration and the resolution/frame rate shown in Live Control Room. Do not infer the received format from a command setting alone. |
| Playlist stops, skips or has a bad transition | Looping configuration, incompatible streams or timestamp differences between files | Test the exact playlist and loop behavior with the installed FFmpeg version. Check files individually and use a compatible concat workflow or re-encode where required. |
| Audio is missing, out of sync or distorted | Some files lack audio or use differing audio parameters; encoding or timestamps may also be wrong | Inspect each file’s audio stream, test transitions and verify the encoded audio in YouTube’s preview before going live. |
| Encoder cannot sustain real-time 4K/60 | The selected software or hardware encoder cannot maintain the workload on that machine | Check encoding load during a representative test. Consider supported hardware encoding, a lower target, or a different encoding workflow; do not promise 4K/60 based solely on an output setting. |
Copyright and channel-policy checks for bhajan streams
Use recordings and visuals you own or are licensed to broadcast. A devotional song’s traditional or religious subject does not automatically make a particular recording, arrangement, performance or accompanying video free to use. Check rights for every playlist item and respond to any YouTube restrictions shown in the account or Live Control Room. Technical compliance with an encoder setting does not establish that content is cleared for streaming or monetization.

Also make sure the channel’s live-stream access is in good standing and review YouTube’s current rules for live content and monetization. Repeatedly replaying existing material is not, by itself, proof that a channel meets monetization requirements; eligibility and policy decisions depend on YouTube’s current policies and review of the channel.
