To loop a luxury home listing video on YouTube Live, use OBS Studio: add the video as a Media Source and turn on Loop. For several listing videos, use OBS’s VLC Video source, arrange the files in a playlist, and enable Loop Playlist. Then connect OBS to an eligible YouTube channel with its stream key, check the preview, and monitor the broadcast. This keeps prerecorded footage playing as a live feed, but OBS and YouTube do not guarantee unattended, uninterrupted operation.
Choose the right OBS playback source
Use Media Source for one file and VLC Video for a rotating set of files. The OBS Project documentation describes the Media Source Loop option as: “Loop — Specifies whether the file play again once playback has completed.” The VLC Video source requires VLC to be installed. OBS documentation is dated 2022-01-11, so labels may differ in later versions.
| Source | Best for | Loop setting | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| Media Source | One listing video | Loop | Add the video file in OBS |
| VLC Video | A sequence of listing videos | Loop Playlist | Install VLC and add files in the desired order |
The cited documentation establishes these playback uses, not a quality, reliability, or uptime advantage for either source. See the OBS Media Sources guide.
Prepare the listing footage and confirm channel eligibility
Check the channel first
YouTube’s current getting-started guidance says a channel must be verified, must not have live-streaming restrictions within the previous 90 days, and the streamer must be at least 16. Check the channel’s status and live-stream access in YouTube Studio before you build the broadcast. Account rules and interface details can change; consult YouTube’s live-streaming getting-started guidance.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Clear rights for every element
Make sure you have the rights to use the listing footage, photographs, music, narration, and any other material in both the live stream and its archive. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match can lead to a placeholder, interruption, or termination. Even if you have a license, a rights owner may need to allowlist your channel through Content ID to prevent an interruption. Permission, fair use, public domain, or a Creative Commons license may be relevant, but none guarantees that YouTube will not issue a copyright claim or strike. Review YouTube’s copyright guidance and its terms.
Build and start the loop in OBS
- Create the scene. Open OBS Studio and select or create a scene for the listing feed. Add the property video as a Media Source for a single file, or add a VLC Video source for a playlist. OBS interface wording can vary by version.
- Set the repeat behavior. In the Media Source properties, enable Loop. For VLC Video, add the files in the sequence you want viewers to see and enable Loop Playlist. Confirm that playback returns to the first video after the final one.
- Check picture and sound. Preview the scene. Verify that the property framing is correct, the video is not obscured or cropped unexpectedly, and narration or music plays at an appropriate level. If the feed should be silent, confirm that no unintended audio is being sent.
- Connect to YouTube Live. In YouTube Studio, create or select the live stream and enter its stream key in OBS’s streaming settings. YouTube describes a stream key as the stream’s password and address; keep it private. Use the stream’s preview to confirm that YouTube is receiving the intended picture and sound before starting the broadcast. See YouTube’s live-stream settings guidance.
- Start and monitor the broadcast. Start streaming from OBS and verify that the YouTube watch page is available to viewers. Keep checking audio and video while the stream runs, and check any archive files afterward. These are operating checks, not a promise of continuous service.
Set expectations for viewers watching a long stream
YouTube’s DVR feature can let viewers pause and resume, but rewind may be limited or unavailable on very long streams, including streams longer than 12 hours. Do not promise that someone joining late can rewind to the beginning or find a particular listing at a predictable point. Check YouTube’s DVR guidance when deciding how to describe the viewing experience.

What to check when the loop or broadcast fails
- The video stops at the end: Reopen the source properties and verify that Loop is enabled for Media Source or Loop Playlist is enabled for VLC Video. For a playlist, confirm that the intended files are in it and that VLC is installed.
- The stream does not start: Confirm live-stream eligibility in YouTube Studio, then check that OBS is using the stream key for the correct YouTube stream. Treat the key like a password; if it has been exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update OBS.
- The YouTube preview is missing or wrong: Check that OBS is streaming the scene with the video source, that the source file is available, and that local OBS preview playback works. Recheck the stream’s preview before relying on the public watch page.
- Audio is absent or unexpected: Check the source’s audio behavior and OBS audio meters, then listen to the YouTube preview. A music track or narration also needs appropriate rights for live use and archiving.
- The broadcast is interrupted after a copyright match: Review the match and the rights for every asset. If the content is licensed, ask the rights owner about allowlisting the channel through Content ID; a license alone does not ensure an uninterrupted live stream.
- Viewers cannot rewind as expected: DVR behavior can be limited on very long streams. Avoid promising access to earlier footage or a rewind-to-start option.
Optional YouTube Live monetization
YouTube may offer eligible creators live ads, Super Chat and Super Stickers, and memberships, depending on eligibility and settings. Ad slots are not guaranteed, so do not treat advertising or other platform monetization as assured income. See YouTube’s live-stream monetization guidance.
