If YouTube videos keep buffering on Airtel broadband, first lower the video quality, then compare the same video on another device and another internet connection. Those checks help narrow the problem to playback quality, one device, home Wi-Fi, or the Airtel connection—but buffering alone does not prove an Airtel outage or a fault specific to playlists.
1. Check whether the problem is limited to one video, playlist, or device

Pause and replay the video, then try a different video in the same playlist.

Play a video that is not in the playlist. Note whether buffering occurs at startup, repeatedly during playback, or only as the next playlist video begins.

If possible, try the same title on another device. A problem that follows one device points toward that device or its YouTube app; a problem across several devices calls for checking the home connection as well.

These comparisons help isolate where to investigate. They do not establish that playlists have a distinct technical failure.
2. Lower YouTube playback quality
While the video is playing, open Settings > Quality and select a lower available resolution instead of Auto. Retest the video. Lower quality reduces the data needed for playback but also reduces picture detail. If playback becomes steady, the connection may not be delivering data consistently enough for the previous quality; it does not, by itself, identify why.
YouTube’s TV troubleshooting guidance recommends at least 7 Mbps for HD streaming. That is a recommendation in its TV guidance, not a guaranteed minimum for every video, device, resolution, or household. A speed test is one measurement, not a complete explanation of buffering. 3. Compare Airtel with another connection

Try the same video over another internet connection, such as mobile data; your mobile data plan may charge for use.

If it plays there but buffers on Airtel, test another device on Airtel if one is available.

Record which device, connection, and selected quality you used, and whether the problem recurred.
If multiple devices buffer on Airtel while the same video works on another connection, investigate the home network and contact Airtel if the problem persists. That comparison narrows the fault domain; it cannot alone identify congestion, routing, an outage, or a particular router fault.
4. Check Wi-Fi, placement, and household use

Test near the router, with the viewing device in an open position and away from obvious obstructions.

Temporarily pause other heavy network use and see whether playback changes.

If your router offers both bands, compare 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz where practical. Airtel describes 2.4 GHz as slower with longer coverage, and 5 GHz as faster over a shorter range. Device compatibility and distance matter.

If the viewing device and router both have Ethernet ports, a wired test can help distinguish a Wi-Fi problem from a wider connection problem. Try an existing suitable cable first. Airtel identifies Cat5/Cat6 RJ45 cable for a wired computer-to-router connection; a cable is a diagnostic option, not a guaranteed fix.
For a useful comparison, note whether you tested near the router or in the usual viewing spot, wired or wireless, at what quality, and whether other devices were using the connection. Airtel’s YouTube buffering guidance also recommends checking speed, router placement, and competing network use.
5. Check Airtel ONT/router and contact support if needed

Check that the ONT/router has power and that the relevant power and network cables are seated properly. Look at its indicator lights for signs of a connection fault.

Handle fiber patch cable carefully; do not bend it sharply.

Airtel’s published guide suggests disconnecting ONT/router power, waiting 15–20 seconds, restoring power, and allowing the connection to re-establish before restarting the viewing device.

If available, open the Airtel Thanks app and look for broadband > My Wi-Fi > Wi-Fi > Optimize Wi-Fi. App labels can change.

Contact Airtel if the connection remains unstable, the indicators suggest a fault, or YouTube and other services fail across multiple devices. Avoid replacing provider equipment or fiber cabling based only on buffering.
Airtel’s home connection troubleshooting guide describes these checks. General guidance cannot confirm a current outage in your location; ask Airtel about local service status while the problem is happening.

Close and reopen YouTube, then restart the device.

Update the YouTube app or browser. On supported devices, clear the YouTube app cache.

On a TV, check for system updates, adjust playback quality manually, or try casting from another device.

If streaming problems affect multiple services on that device, consult the device manufacturer’s support site.

To report an app issue, YouTube provides profile > Help and Feedback > Send Feedback.
7. Give support a useful fault report
Before contacting support, note the video or playlist, device and app, whether the test used Airtel Wi-Fi or another connection, the location or wired/wireless setup, selected quality, and whether other people or devices were using the connection. This record makes it easier to describe the pattern without guessing at its cause. Airtel’s official Help and Support page is another route to assistance.
