Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsTo connect Gyre to YouTube, start a stream in Gyre, select YouTube, and choose channel authorization. Sign in to the Google Account that owns or manages the channel, complete any 2-Step Verification prompt Google presents, review Gyre’s requested permissions, and select the intended YouTube channel. You do not need to turn off two-step verification to follow Gyre’s documented setup.
Connect Gyre using channel authorization
- Start a stream in Gyre. Sign in, begin creating a stream, and choose YouTube as the platform. Gyre’s authorization instructions describe channel authorization as the API-based setup path.
- Choose channel authorization. Sign in through the Google flow with the account that owns or manages the YouTube channel you want to use. This is an authorization flow; it is not a request to give Gyre your Google password. The YouTube Live API uses OAuth 2.0 for authorized access to private user data. Google’s YouTube Live API OAuth documentation explains that authorization model.
- Complete Google’s sign-in checks. If Google asks for 2-Step Verification (2SV), respond using an available method on that account. Depending on the account and sign-in context, Google may offer prompts, passkeys, security keys, authenticator codes, phone codes, or backup codes. Never share a verification code with another person or enter it outside Google’s sign-in flow. Google Account Help: Turn on 2-Step Verification.
- Review the access request before approving it. Check what access Gyre requests and consult the app’s privacy and security disclosures before granting access. Google’s guidance on third-party apps and services recommends reviewing these disclosures.
- Select the right channel. If the account can access more than one channel, confirm that the channel shown is the one you intend to use. Then complete Gyre’s stream setup. Gyre says authorization can create the broadcast, bind a stream key, and transfer stream metadata, reducing the need to copy details manually between services. Gyre’s setup guide.
Understand the two different kinds of verification
Google Account 2-Step Verification
2SV adds another check to some Google sign-ins; it protects the Google Account. It is not a Gyre-specific setting. The Gyre setup instructions do not say to disable it. If a verification method is unavailable, follow Google’s alternate verification or account-recovery options rather than weakening account protections to authorize an app. Google Account Help.
YouTube channel verification and live access
YouTube’s channel phone verification and live-stream eligibility are separate from Google Account 2SV. YouTube says phone-verifying a channel unlocks live streaming, and the YouTube Live API requires a channel to be approved or enabled for Live; otherwise, API requests can fail with insufficient permissions. Passing Google’s sign-in challenge does not itself establish that the channel is eligible to livestream. YouTube Help: Verify your YouTube account · YouTube Live API documentation.
If Gyre authorization fails or opens the wrong channel
- Wrong Google Account: Cancel the flow and sign in with the account that owns or manages the intended channel.
- Several channels or a Brand Account: Inspect the channel selection carefully. YouTube notes that some third-party tools may select the wrong channel or return an error in multi-channel or Brand Account setups. If the tool cannot switch channels, YouTube suggests setting a default channel. YouTube Help: Manage YouTube channels.
- Google’s 2SV challenge cannot be completed: Use an available alternate verification method or Google Account recovery. Do not share codes or disable 2SV just to proceed.
- Sign-in succeeds but YouTube rejects the broadcast: Check that the channel has completed YouTube’s phone verification and is enabled for live streaming. These are channel requirements, not a second Google sign-in factor.
- You are uncomfortable with the requested permissions: Do not approve until you have reviewed the access request and the app’s privacy and security disclosures.
- You need more manual control: Gyre also documents manual stream-key setup. In that route, you provide the stream key and related settings yourself; it can suit users who prefer manual configuration or need YouTube Studio controls the API route does not expose. Gyre’s setup guide.
Channel authorization or manual stream key?
| Setup path | What Gyre handles | What you handle |
|---|---|---|
| Channel authorization | Gyre says it can create and configure the broadcast through the API, bind a stream key, and transfer metadata. | Sign in through Google, complete any requested sign-in checks, review permissions, and select the correct channel. |
| Manual stream-key setup | Gyre provides a setup route for manual configuration. | Supply the stream key and related stream settings yourself; this may be preferable when you want manual control or require controls not exposed through the API route. |
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep uploaded videos running as a 24/7 YouTube livestream, StreamNeo is a separate option from Gyre: upload a recording or playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. The stream runs from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. It plays uploaded videos, not a live camera feed.
