To fix audio and video delay in XSplit Broadcaster, first identify which two signals are out of sync and which arrives early. Then adjust the setting for how that source is captured: use a source’s Offset (ms) for source synchronization, or the relevant audio device’s Delay control when XSplit needs to capture system sound or a microphone later. Record locally and check playback after each adjustment; there is no universal delay value that works for every camera, microphone, or capture card.

Diagnose which audio and video are out of sync

Before changing a value, identify the affected pair: for example, a microphone and webcam, a camera’s picture and its own audio, or game sound and capture-card video. Decide whether the audio or picture appears early. Also note whether the mismatch stays constant or changes over time.

Make a short local recording and review it. Monitoring what you hear while streaming or previewing is not enough to confirm that the recorded output is synchronized. XSplit’s company-authored guide advises: “When reviewing your recording, make sure your microphone audio and webcam audio are in sync.” (XSplit, “Setting Video and Audio Delays on Camera Sources,” March 2, 2016.) The guide is older, so its workflow is useful while current control labels or UI placement may differ.

Choose the XSplit control for the source

Separately added audio device: use Offset

If a separately added microphone or other audio source is out of sync with a camera, open that audio source’s properties and adjust Offset (ms) in small increments. Check its routing options too: XSplit’s audio-device properties distinguish Stream Only from System Sound. If monitoring and the stream behave differently, confirm the intended route before concluding that the timing value is wrong. See XSplit’s audio-device source guide.

Camera or capture card: use the source Offset

If the picture from a Camera/Capture Card source is out of sync with audio, inspect that source’s properties and adjust its Offset (ms). Also confirm that the intended audio input is selected. Available device-specific controls can vary by source, so follow the options shown for the connected hardware. XSplit documents camera and capture-card configuration in its camera-source guide.

System sound or microphone captured in Audio settings: use Delay

If XSplit captures system sound or a microphone through its Audio settings and that signal needs to arrive later, enable the device’s Delay control. Check the selected input device as well as the delay setting; the wrong device selection can look like a timing problem. Consult XSplit’s audio-device setup guide for the applicable controls.

Measure capture-card latency instead of guessing

A capture card can introduce latency, but the amount depends on the actual device and setup. Check the manufacturer’s documentation or measure the difference between the live feed and the capture-card feed. Convert the measured difference to milliseconds, then compensate the source that needs adjustment. Do not copy an offset from another person’s setup: XSplit’s guide does not prescribe a universal value.

After changing the relevant Offset or Delay, make another short local recording and review the microphone, webcam audio, and capture feed together. Adjust in small increments and keep the value that brings the recorded signals into sync in your setup. XSplit’s delay guide describes this measurement-and-review approach.

Troubleshoot by symptom

A camera’s picture is out of sync with its own audio

  • Check the Camera/Capture Card source’s Offset (ms).
  • Confirm that the source is using the intended audio input.
  • Record locally again to verify the result.

A separate microphone is out of sync with camera video

  • If the microphone was added as a separate audio source, check its properties and Offset (ms).
  • If XSplit captures it through Audio settings, check the selected microphone and its Delay control instead.

Game or system sound is delayed relative to captured video

  • Check the system-sound capture device and its Delay setting in Audio settings.
  • Check whether the audio source is routed as intended; XSplit’s audio-device properties include Stream Only and System Sound options.
  • Confirm the adjustment in a local recording rather than relying only on monitoring.

The mismatch changes, or delay appears with stuttering

Check that XSplit is using the intended Windows audio devices and consider whether CPU or GPU load is affecting performance. XSplit identifies resource limits as a possible cause of poor frame rate or stuttering, but that does not establish that resource load explains every sync problem. Its audio troubleshooting guide covers device and performance checks. If the mismatch changes over time, do not assume that a single fixed Offset will solve it; first determine whether the underlying performance or device issue is stable.

The capture device is unavailable, not merely delayed

This is a device-availability issue rather than a sync adjustment. XSplit suggests closing other applications that may be using the device, refreshing the source, and reconnecting the device. See the XSplit troubleshooting steps.

Use headphones only as a monitoring aid

Headphones can help you listen to the final audio mix while checking a recording or preview. They do not change source timing or fix delay by themselves. If the recorded output is still out of sync, return to the appropriate source Offset or capture Delay control.

Or let it run in the cloud

If your goal is to keep prerecorded video live on YouTube around the clock, rather than to synchronize a live camera or microphone setup in XSplit, StreamNeo is a cloud option. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live; your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. Each slot streams uploaded video as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card required; the Monthly price is $9.99 per month. Start your free StreamNeo day.
