In Streamlabs, the donation ticker is called the Tip Ticker. Add it directly as a source in Streamlabs Desktop, or copy its widget URL into a Browser Source in OBS or another broadcasting app. Then adjust its message, appearance, size, and position and check it in your stream preview before going live.
Choose how to add the Tip Ticker

Streamlabs describes the widget as a way to “Display your recent tippers with a scrolling ticker.” Choose the first path if you use Streamlabs Desktop; choose the browser-source path if you want the widget in OBS or other broadcasting software.
Add the Tip Ticker in Streamlabs Desktop
- Open Streamlabs Desktop and find the Sources panel.
- Select +, choose Tip Ticker from the available widgets, name the source, and select Add Source.
- Review the preview and adjust the ticker settings. The settings can also be edited from the Streamlabs dashboard.
- Close the settings to save. Resize and position the ticker on the canvas, then check its appearance in the preview before going live.
Add the Tip Ticker in OBS or another broadcasting app
- Open the Tip Ticker settings in the Streamlabs dashboard and copy the widget URL shown there. Treat this URL as private, account-linked configuration: do not show it on screen or publish it.
- In OBS Studio, XSplit, or your broadcasting software, add a Browser Source (or equivalent) and paste the URL.
- Set the source width and height in the broadcasting app. If the app exposes an FPS setting for the browser source, adjust it as needed.
- Resize and position the source on your canvas. Make later changes to the ticker’s content and styling in the Streamlabs dashboard.
Customize the message and appearance
Streamlabs’ documented Tip Ticker controls include:
- Message format: Use
{name}for the tipper’s name and{amount}for the tip amount. - Number of tips: Choose the maximum number shown at once; the setting must be greater than zero.
- Scrolling: Turn scrolling on or off and set its speed from 1 (slowest) to 10 (fastest).
- Typography and color: Choose the font, size, weight, general text color, name color, and amount color.
- Advanced styling: Use optional custom HTML/CSS, or choose a prebuilt widget theme.
Make it legible in your scene
As practical design checks, leave enough width for the longest likely name and amount, use a font size that remains readable at your stream’s resolution, and check the contrast against the actual overlay behind the ticker. Preview the result in your own scene; sizing and readability depend on your layout and output resolution.

Understand how widget themes work
Streamlabs describes Widget Themes as profiles for alert and widget settings. A theme’s widget URL can be used as a manually added browser source even when that theme is not active. To use a theme as a Streamlabs Desktop source or with the Streamlabs for OBS Plugin, the theme must be active.
Check the ticker before you go live
- Confirm the Tip Ticker source is visible and positioned where you want it.
- Check that the text fits within the source area and remains readable against the scene.
- Verify the message format and chosen colors in the preview.
- If you use a browser source, confirm its URL and dimensions in your broadcasting app; keep the URL private.
