Wonder Man is Simon Williams, a Marvel Comics hero whose powers come from ionic energy. His most consistent abilities are superhuman strength and flight, alongside enhanced durability, reflexes and stamina. Some more unusual powers appear when his abilities become destabilized; Marvel says those manifestations have apparently been lost for now.
Who is Wonder Man, and where do his powers come from?
Wonder Man is the superhero identity of Simon Williams. Marvel’s comic reading guide says Baron Zemo and the Masters of Evil imbued Simon with ionic energy. That energy is the foundation of his powers and, in some stories, enables feats beyond ordinary physical strength.
What can Wonder Man usually do?
Superhuman strength
Strength is Wonder Man’s defining physical power. Disney+’s official article describes the comics character as able to lift “in excess of 100 tons.” That is Disney’s summary, not a universal maximum established for every comic era or story.
Flight and enhanced physical abilities
Marvel’s comics profile lists flight among his abilities. Disney+ also summarizes his ionic powers as giving him enhanced durability, reflexes and stamina. These powers make him more than a strong fighter: he can fly and withstand, react to and endure dangers beyond ordinary human limits.

Can Wonder Man die?
Marvel’s reading guide says Simon’s ionic energy has let him “defy death a time or two.” This describes extraordinary survival in particular stories; it does not mean he is universally invulnerable or permanently immortal in every continuity.
What are Wonder Man’s unusual or unstable powers?
Marvel distinguishes Simon’s regular profile from abilities associated with periods when his powers are destabilized. Its character page says those states have allowed him to:
Rank #2
- Comic-inspired design
- Features Abomination Build-A-Figure piece
- Collect other Marvel Legends Series figures to expand any Marvel collection! (each sold separately)
- Action figure size: 6 inches
- Includes figure, 4 accessories, and Build-A-Figure piece
- Become stronger when angry.
- Change his physical appearance or grow to giant size.
- Fire energy beams from his eyes.
- Explode and reform.
- Empower other people with ionic energy.
Marvel says Simon has apparently lost these destabilized abilities for now. They should not be treated as powers he can reliably use alongside his usual strength and flight in every story.

Yes. The list of abilities depends on the story and the state of Simon’s powers. Marvel’s profile provides a useful distinction: strength and flight form the familiar core, while the shape-changing, giant size, eye beams, reformation and energy-sharing belong to destabilized manifestations that Marvel says are apparently lost for now. An adaptation is a separate portrayal, so details from a screen version should not automatically be applied to the comics character.
