1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFor an RTX 3060, start with NVIDIA NVENC HEVC, CBR at 35,000 Kbps, a 2-second keyframe interval, and 3840×2160 at 60 fps—if OBS offers HEVC for your YouTube ingest path and your system and connection can sustain it. If HEVC is unavailable, use NVENC H.264 at 50,000 Kbps. These are YouTube’s recommended 4K60 bitrates, not a guarantee that every RTX 3060 setup will run smoothly.
Recommended OBS settings for an RTX 3060 at 4K60
Use these as a starting configuration for a pre-recorded loop or other YouTube Live stream. In OBS, switch Output Mode to Advanced so the streaming encoder controls are available.
| OBS setting | Starting value |
|---|---|
| Output Mode | Advanced |
| Streaming encoder | NVIDIA NVENC HEVC, if exposed for the active YouTube ingest path; otherwise NVIDIA NVENC H.264 |
| Rate control | CBR |
| Bitrate | HEVC: 35,000 Kbps; H.264: 50,000 Kbps |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds |
| Preset | P6 |
| Tuning | High Quality |
| Multipass mode | Two Passes (Quarter Resolution) |
| Look-ahead | Enable as a starting point; turn it off if GPU utilization is high |
| Psycho-Visual Tuning / Adaptive Quantization | Enabled |
| Output resolution and frame rate | 3840Ă—2160 at 60 fps |
YouTube recommends CBR and a 2-second keyframe interval, and says keyframes should not exceed 4 seconds. Its live encoder settings page, accessed in 2026, recommends 35 Mbps for 4K/2160p60 AV1 or H.265 and 50 Mbps for 4K/2160p60 H.264. The RTX 3060 codec guidance here comes from the OBS NVENC guide: it lists H.264 and HEVC for RTX 20/30-series cards and AV1 for RTX 40-series cards. Therefore, do not select AV1 on the assumption that an RTX 3060 supports it for this setup. Check the current OBS encoder menu and ingest configuration; HEVC availability is not established for every combination.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Choose the bitrate for the codec, not just the resolution
For 4K60, use the target that matches the selected codec. The minimums below are also from YouTube’s live encoder settings page, accessed in 2026; they are not recommended targets for every scene or a guarantee of a particular visual quality.
| Output | Codec | YouTube minimum | YouTube recommended |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4K/2160p at 60 fps | AV1 or H.265 | 10 Mbps | 35 Mbps |
| 4K/2160p at 60 fps | H.264 | 14 Mbps | 50 Mbps |
| 1440p at 60 fps | AV1 or H.265 | 6 Mbps | 24 Mbps |
| 1440p at 60 fps | H.264 | 8 Mbps | 34 Mbps |
Before settling on a target, run a speed test and confirm that upload capacity is stable. The stream’s bitrate is only one factor in the result, and the connection needs enough dependable headroom to carry it. YouTube recommends testing and monitoring stream health rather than assuming a nominal connection speed will hold.

Set up the encoder and YouTube stream
- Set OBS to Advanced output. Open Settings → Output and change Output Mode to Advanced. Under the streaming section, choose NVIDIA NVENC HEVC if the current OBS build exposes it for your active YouTube ingest path. Otherwise choose NVIDIA NVENC H.264.
- Apply the matching encoder values. Set Rate Control to CBR, Keyframe Interval to 2 s, Preset to P6, Tuning to High Quality, and Multipass Mode to Two Passes (Quarter Resolution). Set bitrate to 35,000 Kbps for HEVC or 50,000 Kbps for H.264.
- Set the video target. Open Settings → Video, set the output resolution to 3840×2160, and choose 60 frames per second. If the system cannot sustain the target, use the fallback process below rather than persisting with unstable output.
- Connect OBS to YouTube. In YouTube Studio, create or open the live stream and use the stream key provided for that broadcast. In OBS, enter the key in the stream configuration for YouTube; keep it private. A key is a credential that lets software send video to the channel.
- Test a representative segment. Before relying on a loop, run a private or otherwise suitable test with movement and audio similar to the intended stream. Check YouTube stream health and OBS statistics for dropped frames, rendering lag, and encoding lag. A static test image may not reveal issues that appear with the real video or scene.
OBS 31.0 documentation describes a newer rate-control mode called Variable Bitrate with Target Quality. For a conventional YouTube Live setup, follow YouTube’s CBR guidance rather than switching to that mode without a specific reason. See OBS Advanced NVENC Options.
What to change if 4K60 is unstable
An RTX 3060 does not guarantee a sustained 4K60 stream by itself. The exact GPU variant, driver, OBS version, scene complexity, capture workload, rendering load, and upload stability all affect whether the configuration works on a particular machine.

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- High GPU utilization or encoding lag: Turn off Look-ahead first if it is enabled. If the problem continues, lower the output resolution or frame rate; try 1440p60 or 30 fps and retest.
- Dropped frames associated with the network: Check the connection’s sustained upload capacity and YouTube stream health. A bitrate target your connection cannot hold steadily can cause interruptions; retest at a lower suitable target if needed.
- 60 fps does not work reliably: OBS recommends dropping from 60 fps to 30 fps when 60 fps is not working. Reduce the target, then test again with representative movement and audio.
- HEVC is missing or fails to connect: Confirm what the current OBS build and active YouTube ingest configuration expose. If HEVC is not offered or does not work, switch to NVENC H.264 and set its 4K60 target to 50,000 Kbps.
For OBS-specific encoding symptoms, use the OBS encoding performance troubleshooting guide. For YouTube’s bitrate and ingest requirements, consult its encoder settings page.
4K YouTube Live latency and HDR notes
YouTube says the option to improve for low latency is unavailable for 4K/2160p streams; they are optimized for quality and set to normal latency. Do not expect the low-latency setting to be available at this resolution.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
Do not assume the stream is HDR just because it is 4K. YouTube specifies HEVC for HDR, and an HDR setup needs a separate check of the full capture and display chain. If you are configuring HDR, verify the signal path and YouTube’s current requirements before going live.
