YouTube’s encoder setup gets a feed onto a live watch page; it does not make every encoder repeat a playlist indefinitely. Confirm that your chosen playback workflow supports the duration and looping behavior you need, and keep a local recording if the broadcast’s replay matters.
What you need for a continuous tour stream
- An eligible YouTube channel with live streaming enabled.
- Tour footage you have permission to broadcast, including rights to any music, narration, images, or other material in the videos.
- A playback workflow or encoder that can repeat the selected footage for the intended duration. Do not assume YouTube itself will loop a playlist for you.
- A stable internet connection with sufficient outbound upload capacity for the chosen stream settings.
- A local copy of the recording if you need a dependable archive of a very long broadcast.
You can use an encoder on a computer, a supported hardware encoder, or a service that runs the feed in the cloud. These approaches differ in whether a computer must stay powered on and in how they handle a dropped connection. YouTube’s encoder directory lists several products, but its listing alone does not establish that each can repeat a tour playlist indefinitely.
Set up the YouTube Live stream
1. Check channel eligibility
Verify the channel and confirm it has live-streaming access. YouTube says live streaming requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. See YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance.
2. Prepare and test the tour loop
Choose the tours and arrange them in the order you want viewers to see them. In the playback tool or encoder, verify that repeat or playlist behavior works for the full intended run. Check what happens at the end of the final video, during transitions, and after a restart or brief network interruption. YouTube’s general encoder instructions do not guarantee that a particular encoder repeats media indefinitely.

3. Create a stream and connect the encoder
- In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live stream using the encoder workflow.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key from the stream setup details into the corresponding fields in your encoder.
- Treat the stream key like a password: do not publish it or share it with people who should not be able to broadcast to your channel.
- Start the encoder’s feed, then open the stream in Live Control Room and preview the incoming video and audio before launching the broadcast.
YouTube’s encoder workflow uses the stream URL and key to connect the encoder, with preview and launch handled through Live Control Room. Follow the current on-screen labels in YouTube’s encoder setup instructions.
4. Use compatible encoder settings
YouTube’s general encoder guidance recommends RTMPS, H.264 video, constant bitrate (CBR), and a two-second keyframe interval; do not exceed four seconds. For 720p at 30 frames per second, the same guidance lists a video bitrate range of 2–6 Mbps. These are YouTube recommendations for the stated resolution and frame rate, not a universal bitrate for every tour, encoder, or network. Choose settings supported by your encoder and consult YouTube’s current table for other output formats.
Use the settings guidance at Choose live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions. Before going live, confirm the encoder is actually sending the resolution, frame rate, audio, and bitrate you selected.

5. Allow upload headroom and monitor the broadcast
Measure outbound upload capacity rather than relying on download speed. YouTube recommends leaving 20% upload bandwidth headroom above the stream’s bitrate and checking continuity; a network disruption can break the stream. Test the complete path, preview the incoming feed, verify the public watch page, and monitor the broadcast after launch. See YouTube’s streaming tips.
Protect the footage and music rights
You must have the rights needed to broadcast every element of the live content. YouTube’s livestream terms say streamers represent that they have the necessary worldwide rights, including music licensing rights. A vacation-rental tour can include background music, artwork, photographs, or other material that belongs to someone else, so review the whole recording rather than only the property footage. Read YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions.
YouTube’s live copyright system scans for third-party matches. A stream may be replaced by a placeholder, interrupted, or terminated if matched content remains. Having a license does not necessarily prevent an automated interruption: the rights holder may need to add the channel to its Content ID allowlist. Check YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance and arrange any required allowlisting before the broadcast.

Plan for long-stream recording limits
Do not rely on YouTube to preserve a complete replay of an uninterrupted broadcast longer than 12 hours. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. Keep a local recording when the archive matters, and test that the recording is being saved correctly. Details are in YouTube’s archive guidance.
DVR rewind may also be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. A continuous live watch page therefore does not guarantee that viewers can rewind the entire broadcast or that YouTube will retain it as a complete video. See YouTube’s DVR guidance.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsChoose a way to keep the stream running
For a DIY setup, run a verified looping playback workflow through an encoder on a computer and monitor it during the broadcast. The computer, encoder, and internet connection must remain available for this approach to continue. YouTube’s encoder directory also lists hardware and software options. For example, the AJA HELO Plus listing describes PlayToStream for scheduling prerecorded media to YouTube Live without a computer; that description does not establish indefinite repeat behavior, so confirm the exact looping capability and current product availability with the vendor before buying. See YouTube’s encoder directory.

Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping uploaded videos live on YouTube. Upload the tour recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. The computer at home can be off; StreamNeo loops the uploaded video in the cloud and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. It streams to YouTube and plays uploaded videos, not a live camera feed.
Every slot includes one always-on stream, 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots, looping and playlists, automatic recovery, and StreamNeo team support. Your uploaded file streams as made, up to 4K at 60 fps, with no re-encode and no quality tiers. The first day is free with no card, once per account. The Monthly price is $9.99 per month. UPI and cards are available in India; card checkout is available worldwide. Other billing lengths are available, and five or more slots can be discussed with support.
For vacation-tour footage, this removes the need to leave a home computer running while retaining the uploaded video’s quality, and recovery is automatic if YouTube drops the stream. Make sure you have rights to every element in the footage whichever workflow you choose. Start the free StreamNeo day.

Troubleshooting common problems
The channel cannot start a live stream
Check that the channel is verified, live streaming is enabled, and it has no live-streaming restriction within the past 90 days. If access has only just been enabled, follow YouTube Studio’s prompts and allow for any activation delay shown there.
The encoder is not reaching Live Control Room
Recheck the stream URL and key for typos, confirm the encoder is using the correct ingest settings, and verify the connection is active. If you regenerate or replace a key, update the encoder to use the current one. Keep the key private.
The feed stutters or disconnects
Check upload capacity and reduce the stream bitrate or output resolution if the connection cannot sustain it with YouTube’s recommended headroom. Test the network route and encoder before restarting the broadcast; a momentary network interruption can break the stream.
The stream ends instead of repeating the tours
This is usually a playback or encoder loop-setting issue, not a YouTube stream-key setting. Confirm that repeat is enabled for the playlist and test a complete pass, including the last file and transition back to the first. If the selected tool does not support the required repeat behavior, choose a workflow that does before scheduling a long broadcast.
The live feed is interrupted for a copyright match
Identify the matched segment and confirm you have the necessary rights for all included material. If it is licensed, ask the rights holder whether the channel must be allowlisted in Content ID; a license alone may not prevent automated matching from interrupting a live stream.
The full stream replay is missing
For a broadcast longer than 12 hours, YouTube may not capture an archive at all. Use and verify a local recording if you need the complete replay rather than relying on YouTube’s archive or DVR rewind.
