You set up YouTube channel memberships in YouTube Studio, not through a special 24/7 setting. On a computer, open YouTube Studio → Earn → Memberships; if your channel is eligible, choose Get started and follow the prompts, including accepting the Commerce Product Module (CPM) if asked. India is a supported location, but continuous streaming does not guarantee eligibility: your channel must meet YouTube’s current requirements and content rules.
What a 24/7 schedule does—and does not—change
YouTube’s published membership eligibility and setup guidance does not identify round-the-clock operation as a separate disqualifier or require a special membership setting for always-on channels. Eligibility still depends on YouTube Partner Program (YPP) requirements, location, age, channel content and policy compliance. YouTube reviews channels, so meeting the listed thresholds does not guarantee acceptance or activation.
Memberships can include members-only live streams, and eligible viewers can purchase gifted memberships during live streams or Premieres. YouTube’s membership guidance does not document a distinct workflow for applying these features to a continuously running stream. Set up the membership benefits you can actually deliver; do not assume that an always-on public stream automatically becomes a members-only benefit.
Check eligibility before setting up levels
YouTube’s lower fan-funding eligibility route lists these thresholds. They are requirements to apply through that route, not a guarantee of access to memberships:

- At least 500 subscribers.
- At least three public uploads in the past 90 days.
- Either 3,000 qualified public watch hours on long-form videos in the past 365 days, or 3 million qualified public Shorts views in the past 90 days.
You must also be at least 18 and live in a supported location; India is listed. You must accept the CPM or its applicable equivalent. A channel set as Made for Kids, or one with a significant number of videos set as Made for Kids, may be ineligible. YouTube also notes that some music channels, including some under an SRAV contract, may not qualify. Check YouTube’s current YPP eligibility requirements and channel-membership eligibility rules before applying, since thresholds and policies can change.
Turn on memberships in YouTube Studio
- On a computer, sign in to YouTube Studio with the channel account.
- In the left menu, select Earn, then open the Memberships tab. YouTube shows this tab only when the channel is eligible.
- Select Get started and follow the on-screen instructions.
- If prompted, review and accept the Commerce Product Module (CPM). YouTube says the creator—and any multichannel network (MCN), where applicable—must accept it to earn membership revenue.
- Create membership levels and choose the perks for each level, using the options available to your channel and following YouTube’s rules.
Memberships may take up to two days to activate after YPP acceptance while YouTube reviews eligibility. That is YouTube’s stated estimate, not a guaranteed activation time. Its membership setup guidance describes the Studio workflow.

Choose perks your channel can reliably provide
YouTube-supported membership benefits can include badges, emoji, members-only content and members-only live streams. Choose only perks you intend to deliver consistently, particularly when your channel runs around the clock. For example, a members-only live stream is a distinct benefit; do not promise continuous personal moderation or scheduled interactions unless you can staff them.

- Perks marketed or directed at children, likely to attract children, or encouraging children to ask their parents to join.
Live chats and other content offered as perks remain subject to YouTube’s policies. Review the current membership policies and setup details before publishing your levels.
Set India prices and understand recurring payments
Use the prices and tier options shown in Studio for your country or region rather than assuming every member sees the same amount. YouTube’s India pricing page lists the schedule introduced from May 2025, which is rolling out gradually, and warns that a member’s price can vary depending on when they joined. Examples from that schedule are ₹59 for the USD $0.99 tier, ₹299 for the USD $4.99 tier and ₹479 for the USD $7.99 tier. The page lists legacy prices separately; do not mix those with the newer schedule. Check YouTube’s India membership pricing page and the options Studio actually presents when setting up levels.

For recurring payments in India, members may need to verify or re-enter payment details under RBI eMandate requirements. A member’s bank may not support recurring payments. YouTube says creators receive 70% of membership revenue recognised by Google after local sales tax and other fees are deducted; this is not 70% of the sticker price. Once memberships are active, viewers can use the channel’s Join button or visit the channel’s /join URL. If a viewer cannot see Join, work through these checks:

- Confirm memberships are enabled. Verify the feature is active in Studio.
- Check location availability. The channel and viewer must be in locations where memberships are supported.
- Check the specific video. Some watch pages with music-partner claims may not be eligible to show Join.
- Try another route. Ask the viewer to open the channel homepage or try from a computer.
YouTube’s Join button troubleshooting guide covers these checks. Gifts are optional: they can be purchased during live streams or Premieres, and eligible viewers must opt in to receive gifted memberships.
