Yes—YouTube allows eligible channels to use memberships on livestreams, and a 24/7 schedule is not itself a stated disqualification. But streaming continuously does not qualify a channel by itself. Memberships depend on YouTube Partner Program (YPP) acceptance, the membership-specific rules, regional availability, and ongoing policy compliance.
How memberships fit into livestream monetization
YouTube lists channel memberships as one way to earn revenue from livestreams, alongside ads and Super Chat or Super Stickers. Memberships are a feature that an eligible channel must set up; they do not turn on automatically because a stream stays live.
A continuous stream is therefore compatible with memberships, but its duration is not an eligibility shortcut. YouTube applies monetization rules to livestreams and to the channel as a whole. YouTube’s live-stream monetization guidance describes the available revenue features, while its channel monetization policies explain the broader policy requirements.
Membership eligibility: the lower fan-funding threshold
YouTube’s current help guidance, accessed October 3, 2026, lists this threshold for early access to fan-funding features, including memberships:

- At least 3 public uploads in the last 90 days.
- Either 3,000 qualified public watch hours from long-form videos in the last 365 days, or 3 million qualified public Shorts views in the last 90 days.
Meeting these figures does not guarantee entry. YouTube reviews channels before accepting them into YPP, and thresholds or feature availability can change. Check YouTube’s current earning requirements and the Earn area in YouTube Studio for your channel’s status and the options available in your region.
Membership-specific conditions still apply
Even after reaching the numeric threshold, a channel must satisfy the additional requirements for memberships. YouTube’s Commerce Products monetization policies specify conditions that include:

- The creator must be at least 18 years old and live in a country or region where memberships are available.
- The channel must accept the Commerce Product Module or, where applicable, have accepted the Commerce Product Addendum.
- The channel must not be set as Made for Kids and must not have a significant number of ineligible or Made for Kids videos.
- YouTube’s feature guidance lists a restriction for music channels under SRAV.
Eligibility and availability are assessed by YouTube, not by how long a stream runs. Confirm the current requirements and feature status in YouTube Studio; a channel’s country, account status, content, and policy standing can affect access.
Do 24/7 livestream hours count toward the threshold?
They can count toward the public watch-hour route only if the public livestream is converted to a video on demand (VOD). YouTube excludes livestreams that are unlisted, deleted, or not converted to VOD from the relevant public watch-hour total. That distinction matters for a continuous channel: being live around the clock does not mean every hour automatically qualifies. Visibility and what happens to the stream archive affect whether its watch hours count.
Memberships are not the same as the ad-revenue threshold
YouTube’s higher YPP threshold, associated with ad-revenue sharing, is separate from the lower fan-funding threshold above. The overview lists 1,000 subscribers plus either 4,000 qualified public watch hours in the last 12 months or 10 million qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days. Those higher figures should not be treated as the sole threshold for memberships.

For watch hours under that higher route, YouTube’s public livestream archive rule still matters: the stream must be public and converted to VOD for the hours to count. Check the YPP overview for current terms; YouTube notes that requirements are subject to change, including updates taking effect in 2027.

- Open YouTube Studio and select Earn to see your channel’s current YPP eligibility, application status, and available features.
- Review the memberships conditions for your country and account, including age, channel status, and acceptance of the applicable commerce terms.
- For the watch-hour route, keep livestreams public and ensure they are converted to VOD if you want their hours considered toward the public watch-hour threshold.
- Review YouTube’s monetization policies for the entire channel, not just the continuous stream, and address any policy or eligibility notices shown in Studio.
