The available Jio information does not establish that OBS can be installed and kept streaming indefinitely in every JioPC access mode. In particular, Jio says a JioPC desktop used through its set-top box shuts down 15 minutes after the box is switched off. If you need recordings to loop continuously, verify JioPC’s software and session limits and complete a sustained test before relying on it; a cloud playout service is a better-documented fit for that use.
First decide whether you need a continuous channel or a replay
“Continuously” can mean either a 24/7 YouTube channel that loops a library of recorded services, or one scheduled broadcast that stays live for the duration of a single service. A single encoder session may be sufficient for the latter if the desktop and connection remain active. A 24/7 channel also needs dependable long-running playback, looping or scheduling, monitoring, and a way to recover if the stream or desktop stops.
Jio describes JioPC as a virtual desktop delivered over the internet. Its public materials do not confirm that a subscriber can install OBS, leave its encoder running indefinitely, or keep a session alive after the access device disconnects. Treat JioPC as unverified for continuous streaming until Jio confirms the relevant limits and your own test succeeds.
What you need before a YouTube broadcast
A YouTube channel enabled for live streaming
YouTube accepts a feed from an encoder, which can be software or a hardware device. First-time live enablement may take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before the planned service. In YouTube Studio, create or schedule the live stream, use the stream key in the encoder, then check the preview and audio before starting the broadcast. Keep the stream key private: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your live event. See YouTube’s encoder setup instructions for the current workflow.

A JioPC environment that can actually run an encoder
Jio’s product pages describe Ubuntu/Linux configurations, but plan and storage details differ across its published pages. One current listing gives configurations of 4 CPU/8 GB RAM/500 GB and 8 CPU/16 GB RAM/1 TB; another Jio page describes a launch offer with 4 CPU/8 GB and 100 GB welcome storage or 500 GB on a paid plan. These figures are not a single universal specification: check the configuration and offer attached to your account on JioPC’s product page.
OBS lists Linux prerequisites including an OpenGL 3.3-compatible GPU and an X window system or Wayland. OBS also cautions that meeting minimum requirements does not prove a system can stream reliably; results depend on the encoder, resolution, frame rate, and scene complexity. Jio’s general description of an Ubuntu/Linux desktop does not establish that its hosted environment exposes the required graphics support or allows OBS installation. Check OBS’s system requirements and confirm the specifics with Jio.

How to test a JioPC setup before trusting it for worship
- Enable YouTube Live early. Complete channel enablement and allow for the possibility that first-time access takes up to 24 hours. Create the live event in YouTube Studio and copy its stream key securely.
- Ask Jio about the exact plan and access method. Confirm whether OBS installation and outbound YouTube RTMP streaming are allowed, what idle or session timeout applies to browser access, whether disconnection suspends the desktop, and whether an encoder can continue without the access device. Do not infer browser behavior from the set-top-box policy.
- Install and configure OBS only if Jio permits it. Add the recorded service as a media source, check that its audio and video play correctly, and configure the YouTube stream using the key for the intended event. OBS may not be available or reliable in the hosted desktop; the operating-system label alone does not settle that.
- Run a test broadcast longer than the planned service. Monitor YouTube’s preview and stream health, then simulate the interruptions relevant to your setup, such as closing the browser or disconnecting the access device. For a continuous channel, test the full intended operating pattern, including the transition from one recording to the next and recovery after a dropped connection.
- Do not switch off a Jio set-top box during a broadcast unless you have verified the result. Jio says a JioPC desktop accessed through its set-top box remains active for 15 minutes after that box is switched off, then shuts down. That documented behavior is not evidence that an encoder will continue indefinitely. See Jio’s JioPC set-top-box information.
How to keep a recorded service playing continuously
If JioPC allows OBS and the sustained test passes, use a repeatable playlist rather than relying on someone to restart each recording manually. In OBS, add the video files in the intended order and confirm whether your chosen source or playlist arrangement advances and loops as required. Watch a complete transition: check for gaps, unexpected black frames, muted audio, or the end of the broadcast when a file finishes. The available JioPC information does not establish a built-in 24/7 playlist or automatic recovery feature.
Keep YouTube’s control room open during initial tests and monitor both the incoming feed and the published stream. Encoder uptime and network health are separate: an active desktop cannot prevent interruptions caused by an unstable or insufficient connection. OBS’s connection troubleshooting guide covers dropped frames and disconnections. Do not treat a successful short test as proof of reliable overnight or 24/7 operation.

Protect the channel and the worship recordings
- Use recordings you have the rights to stream. A church service may contain music, performances, readings, or other material with separate rights. Confirm permissions for both the live broadcast and any YouTube archive; a congregation’s permission to use a recording is not automatically permission to rebroadcast every included work.
- Keep the stream key confidential. Store it only in the authorized encoder or service, and replace it in YouTube Studio if it is exposed.
- Check YouTube’s channel and content rules. Continuous repetition does not exempt a channel from copyright enforcement or YouTube monetization policies concerning repetitive or reused content. A technically active stream is not a guarantee of monetization or continued availability.
- Plan for the archive. Confirm whether YouTube saves the broadcast, whether the service duration is supported, and whether your church wants the replay public, unlisted, or removed after the event.
Troubleshooting common failures
- OBS cannot be installed: JioPC may restrict installation or the environment may lack required graphics support. Ask Jio about the current plan’s permissions and capabilities; do not assume Ubuntu/Linux guarantees OBS compatibility.
- The stream stops after powering down the set-top box: Jio documents shutdown 15 minutes after the box is switched off. Keep the access setup active for a test, or use a cloud playout service that does not depend on that session.
- YouTube does not show the incoming feed: Confirm live streaming is enabled, the correct event and stream key are selected, and the encoder is connected. First-time enablement may take up to 24 hours.
- Video or audio drops, or the broadcast disconnects: Check OBS stream health and connection troubleshooting. Test the actual network and encoder settings under the intended load; a running desktop alone does not guarantee a stable feed.
- A recording ends and the channel goes blank or offline: Verify the playlist advances and loops as intended, then observe the transition during a sustained test. Do not assume JioPC provides automatic playout.
- The stream fails after a browser or device interruption: Browser-access persistence is not established in the published details cited here. Ask Jio about session suspension and test the exact interruption before scheduling a service.
