3. Prepare and test before going live
- Schedule ahead. YouTube recommends setting up an encoder stream at least two hours before the event.
- Connect early. Start the encoder at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start so you can check the incoming feed.
- Review the preview. In YouTube Live Control Room, confirm the preview appears and that the picture and sound are right before starting the public stream.
- Test recovery. If using a backup encoder or connection, test failover by stopping the primary encoder or disconnecting its Ethernet cable, then confirm the player switches to the backup.
- Check access and archive. Confirm viewers can reach the event from the channel and watch pages, including on mobile. If recording locally, verify that the archive file is intact and growing.
- Monitor the running stream. Keep checking audio and video quality, and know who will respond if the encoder or stream fails.
4. Make a realistic continuity plan
A 24/7 schedule is an operating commitment, not a guarantee that one machine or internet connection will never fail. Write down who can respond to a drop, how to restart the encoder, and how viewers will find the replacement stream if you must create a new event. Test the recovery procedure rather than assuming that a backup will work.
Maintain a local archive where practical and check its files while the stream runs. A cloud-streaming service is another way to avoid depending on a computer at home; it does not remove the need to clear rights or confirm YouTube’s stream status.

5. Clear rights to bhajans and visuals before broadcasting
YouTube’s livestream terms put responsibility on the creator to have the necessary rights for live content, including music rights from artists, labels, publishers, and other royalty participants. Confirm that permissions cover the intended use, territories, continuous livestream, and any archived replay. Do not assume that a devotional song is free to use because it is traditional: a particular recording, arrangement, performance, or visual may have its own rights.
Keep written records identifying the recordings and visuals, the rights holder, permitted uses, territory, duration, and any conditions. If you are unsure whether a license covers a continuous livestream or replay, ask the rights holder or a qualified adviser before broadcasting.

Plan for Content ID
YouTube states that all live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content. If a match remains, YouTube may show a placeholder, interrupt the stream, or terminate it. A licensed stream can still be interrupted if the rights owner has not added the channel to its Content ID allowlist. Ask the owner about allowlisting in advance, and remember that an archived stream may receive a Content ID claim after it ends. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
Creator Music is not live-stream clearance
YouTube’s Creator Music licensing and revenue-sharing tracks are limited to long-form videos, not live streams. They do not substitute for rights expressly covering livestream use. Check Creator Music’s terms and availability and secure appropriate permissions separately.

6. Treat monetization as a separate decision
Copyright clearance and YouTube Partner Program eligibility answer different questions. A license may permit use of a recording, but it does not establish that a channel’s content is sufficiently original for monetization review. YouTube’s monetization policy applies to livestreams and evaluates channel-level originality and authentic value, including its rules on repetitious or inauthentic content and reused content. A minimally changed loop or compilation of other artists’ songs is therefore a risky format for monetization eligibility, even if the recordings are licensed.
