Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Changing your YouTube channel’s country setting is not listed by YouTube as a reason ordinary live-streaming access is removed. YouTube’s published baseline requirements instead focus on channel verification and having no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Check your channel’s status in YouTube Studio, because an account-specific restriction or feature limitation may still prevent you from going live.
Which country setting did you change?
YouTube has two different country-related settings that are easy to confuse:
- Country of residence: In YouTube Studio, this is a channel setting. YouTube says the country or region selected here is used to determine eligibility for the YouTube Partner Program (YPP). That is a monetization rule, not a stated general requirement for ordinary live streaming. YouTube’s channel settings guidance explains the setting.
- Viewer location: This preference affects recommendations, charts and news shown to a viewer. It is not described as controlling a channel’s live-streaming access or as the country-of-residence setting used for YPP eligibility. YouTube’s location guidance covers this preference.
If you changed the viewer location rather than the channel’s Country of residence, that is a different setting. Neither setting, by itself, is identified in YouTube’s published general live-streaming checklist as a reason to remove access.
Check live-streaming eligibility in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio → Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility and check whether live streaming is enabled. YouTube says feature access can depend on verification level and directs creators to check eligibility in Studio. YouTube’s feature access guidance describes the levels.
- Confirm the channel is verified and has had no live-streaming restrictions during the previous 90 days. These are YouTube’s stated general requirements for live streaming. YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance lists them.
- If you enabled live streaming for the first time, allow up to 24 hours for activation. YouTube’s setup guidance notes this possible delay.
- Read any notices in Studio and related email. YouTube lists policy and copyright events among reasons it may restrict live streaming; use the exact notice to identify the issue.
The public eligibility checklist cannot show the private status of your channel. If Studio says you are not eligible or live streaming is restricted, follow the channel-specific notice rather than assuming the country change caused it.

Eligibility differs by streaming method
| Method | Requirements and checks | Activation or access notes |
|---|---|---|
| Computer webcam or encoder | Channel verification and no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Check the channel’s Feature eligibility page in Studio. | Computer live streaming is listed as an intermediate feature. Phone verification provides intermediate access; advanced feature access can allow higher daily limits. YouTube does not state a separate country-change requirement for this method. Feature access details. |
| Mobile device | At least 50 subscribers, a verified channel, no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, feature activation, and a supported Android or iOS device. | The first mobile live stream may take up to 24 hours after enabling. These additional mobile conditions are separate from the general eligibility question. YouTube’s mobile live-streaming guidance. |
Restrictions matter more than a country change
YouTube may disable live streaming temporarily or permanently in response to Community Guidelines or copyright matters and other listed conditions. If a live-streaming restriction is active, YouTube says you cannot use another channel to live stream while it remains in force; doing so is treated as circumvention. Do not try to bypass a restriction by switching channels. Review YouTube’s live-streaming restriction guidance and the specific notice on your account.
If live streaming still is not available
- Feature eligibility says streaming is not enabled: Check the verification and feature-access status shown in Studio, then follow YouTube’s instructions for the level you need.
- You just enabled live streaming: Wait up to 24 hours before treating the delay as a new restriction.
- You are trying to stream from a phone: Check the 50-subscriber threshold, supported-device requirement and mobile feature status; computer eligibility does not establish that mobile streaming is available.
- Studio shows a restriction or policy notice: Read its stated reason and duration. A country edit does not remove an active restriction, and using another channel to evade it is not allowed.
- The notice does not explain the problem: Use YouTube’s account-specific Studio information or support route. Public help pages cannot determine a particular channel’s private status or resolve every territory-specific availability issue.
Keep an eligible YouTube stream running continuously
Eligibility only determines whether you may start a live stream; it does not require you to keep a computer or encoder running. For a continuous stream of uploaded videos on YouTube, StreamNeo runs the stream from the cloud: upload a recording or make a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It is a YouTube-only service for uploaded videos, not a way to broadcast from a camera.
