How to Stream a Pre-Recorded Playlist as a YouTube Live Broadcast (Spanish Guide)

Use OBS Studio and VLC to play a local playlist into YouTube Live, then verify the preview and start the scheduled broadcast.

To stream a pre-recorded playlist as a YouTube Live broadcast, play the files through an encoder such as OBS Studio and send that live feed to YouTube. YouTube does not take a regular YouTube video playlist as a direct Live input. This guide explains the OBS-and-VLC workflow for Spanish-speaking creators; the menus and setup are the same regardless of the videos’ language.

What you need before you start

  • A YouTube channel that is verified and has had no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. First-time live-streaming enablement may take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before the planned broadcast. YouTube’s encoder guide and live-streaming tips explain eligibility and timing.
  • Video files stored locally, which you have the rights to broadcast.
  • OBS Studio and VLC installed on the computer that will run the broadcast. OBS’s VLC Video source requires VLC to be installed.
  • A reliable internet connection and access to YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room.

You do not need a camera, microphone, or hardware encoder for a playlist-only broadcast. YouTube describes software encoders as an option for sending a live feed; a camera or microphone is only needed if you want to add live production elements. YouTube’s encoder guide

Set up the playlist in OBS

  1. Install OBS Studio and VLC. Open OBS after installing both programs. If OBS does not offer the VLC Video source, check that VLC is installed and restart OBS.
  2. Add a VLC Video source. In your OBS scene, click the + under Sources and choose VLC Video Source. Add the local video files you want to play to its playlist. OBS documents this source for playlists, with controls to play files in order or shuffle and to loop the playlist. OBS: VLC Video Source
  3. Choose playback behavior. Keep the list in order if the program has a fixed sequence; enable shuffle only if the order can vary. Enable Loop Playlist if the videos should repeat after the final item. Review the source settings in your installed OBS version, since interface details may change.
  4. Check the scene. Confirm the video fits the canvas and that the audio meter moves during playback. Make sure the scene does not expose desktop notifications, unrelated windows, or other material you do not intend to broadcast.
  5. Play through the complete sequence before going live. Check file order, gaps or transitions, audio presence and relative levels, and what happens at the end of the playlist. A local rehearsal helps catch content and playback problems before viewers see them.

Create or schedule the YouTube Live event

  1. In YouTube Studio, select Create > Go live.
  2. Create a stream, or open the Manage tab to schedule one. Scheduling can provide a shareable event URL and let viewers set reminders. YouTube: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder
  3. Open the event in Live Control Room and locate its stream URL and stream key. Treat the key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your stream.

If you are enabling live streaming for the first time, allow up to 24 hours for access to become available. Confirm that the channel meets YouTube’s verification and restriction-history requirements before relying on the event date. YouTube’s encoder guide; YouTube’s live-streaming tips

Connect OBS and start the broadcast

  1. In OBS, open Settings > Stream. Choose YouTube as the service if available, then enter the stream key from Live Control Room. If your OBS version or connection method asks for a server or stream URL, use the value shown in Live Control Room.
  2. Use RTMPS when the selected encoder and YouTube settings support it. YouTube recommends RTMPS, the secure version of RTMP; check the current Live Control Room settings and your encoder’s available options. YouTube encoder settings
  3. Click Start Streaming in OBS. For a scheduled stream, wait until the encoder feed appears in the Live Control Room preview, check it, then click Go live there to begin the public broadcast.
  4. Watch the preview and monitor the live event. Confirm both picture and audio are reaching YouTube, and keep an eye on the playlist as it advances.

YouTube recommends configuring the encoder at least two hours before the event and starting it at least 15 minutes before the scheduled time. These are preparation recommendations, not guaranteed processing times. YouTube’s live-streaming tips

Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

End the event and find its archive

When the playlist is finished, end the broadcast in Live Control Room and stop streaming in OBS. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived and can be found in YouTube Studio’s Live area. Its encoder guidance does not establish automatic archiving for streams longer than 12 hours, so do not rely on an archive in that case. YouTube’s encoder guide

Rights, language, and monetization checks

  • Broadcast only material you are allowed to use. Having a video file does not establish permission to stream its picture, music, narration, or other included content. Check rights and licenses for every item in the playlist before broadcasting.
  • Make the Spanish-language experience intentional. Check that the videos, titles, descriptions, and any on-screen information match the audience you intend to serve. If a clip contains other languages, decide whether that is expected and explain it in the event description.
  • Do not assume that prerecorded content qualifies for monetization. YouTube’s encoder guide says only Partner Programme members can monetize a live stream through the encoder workflow. Check YouTube Studio for your channel’s eligibility and current monetization rules before planning revenue. YouTube’s encoder guide

Common problems and fixes

Problem What to check
VLC Video Source is missing in OBS Install VLC, then restart OBS. The source depends on VLC being installed. OBS source requirements
YouTube does not receive a signal Confirm the stream key and, if requested, server or stream URL match the current event in Live Control Room. Check that OBS is actually streaming and that the selected connection method is supported.
The event is scheduled but viewers cannot see it Check for the encoder preview in Live Control Room. For a scheduled event, the preview appearing is not the same as the public broadcast beginning; click Go live in Live Control Room.
Video plays but has no sound Check that the source includes audio, that OBS’s audio meter responds, and that audio is audible in the Live Control Room preview before the event starts.
Clips play in the wrong order or stop at the end Review the VLC Video playlist order and shuffle setting. Enable Loop Playlist if the sequence should repeat.
You cannot start a first-ever live broadcast Verify the channel and enable live streaming ahead of time; YouTube says first-time enablement may take up to 24 hours. Check for restrictions in the previous 90 days. YouTube’s encoder guide; YouTube’s live-streaming tips

DIY OBS or a cloud service?

OBS with VLC gives you direct control over locally stored files and playlist order, but the computer and its internet connection must remain available throughout the broadcast. YouTube’s encoder help page also lists Gyre as a cloud-based tool for continuous prerecorded-video streams; check Gyre directly for its current features, prices, and operating terms before choosing it.
