Recommended Free Tools
For a 24/7 Malayalam news replay on YouTube, use RTMPS, H.264 with CBR, a two-second keyframe interval, and a resolution and bitrate your computer and upload connection can sustain continuously. For a 1080p H.264 stream, YouTube recommends 10 Mbps at 30 fps or 17 Mbps at 60 fps; for 720p, it recommends 6 Mbps at either frame rate. Treat these as starting points, not guarantees: test your actual replay and monitor YouTube’s stream health before relying on the setup.
Recommended OBS settings for continuous YouTube Live
These settings follow YouTube’s current encoder guidance and OBS’s controls. They are not a tested recipe for your particular computer, connection, footage, or audio. Start with a representative test and adjust if encoding or upload performance is unstable.
| Setting | Starting point | What to consider |
|---|---|---|
| Ingest protocol | RTMPS | YouTube recommends RTMPS, the secure extension of RTMP. YouTube encoder settings. |
| Video codec | H.264 | YouTube also lists H.265/HEVC and AV1 as supported video codecs; H.264 has bitrate guidance in the table below. |
| Rate control | CBR | Use constant bitrate encoding for the stream. |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds | YouTube recommends 2 seconds and says not to exceed 4 seconds. |
| Audio codec | AAC or MP3 | Check that the selected audio source and codec are both present in the output. |
| Frame rate | 30 fps is a reasonable starting point for many replay formats | Choose a rate suited to the source. OBS notes that 60 fps can be taxing; test system resources before using it continuously. |
H.264 bitrate by resolution and frame rate
| Output | YouTube-recommended bitrate |
|---|---|
| 720p at 30 fps | 6 Mbps |
| 720p at 60 fps | 6 Mbps |
| 1080p at 30 fps | 10 Mbps |
| 1080p at 60 fps | 17 Mbps |
These are YouTube recommendations for H.264, not a guarantee that your internet connection can sustain the upload or that your computer can encode without dropped frames. If your connection is variable, choose a lower output or frame rate that remains stable rather than targeting a number your connection cannot hold. YouTube’s bitrate and encoder guidance is at Choose live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.
Set up the stream key and output in OBS
- Get the YouTube stream details. In YouTube Studio, open the live control room and create or select the stream. Copy the stream key and the server information YouTube provides. A stream key works like a password for the encoder feed: keep it private and reset it if it is exposed. YouTube’s controls are described in its live stream settings.
- Connect OBS to YouTube. In OBS, open Settings > Stream. Select YouTube as the service, or enter the server and key supplied by YouTube if configuring a custom connection. OBS documents the service, server, and stream-key fields in its streaming guide.
- Set video dimensions. In Settings > Video, distinguish Base (Canvas) Resolution from Output (Scaled) Resolution. Set the output to the resolution you intend to send. For example, a 1080p source can be downscaled to 720p output if that better fits your sustained upload capacity.
- Set the encoder options. In Settings > Output, configure the streaming encoder for CBR, set the bitrate appropriate to the chosen H.264 resolution and frame rate, and set the keyframe interval to 2 seconds. OBS labels can vary with encoder choice and version, so verify the setting shown for the active streaming encoder.
- Choose a suitable frame rate. In Settings > Video, set the output frame rate to match the needs of the replay. Static titles and studio footage may not benefit from 60 fps; use 30 fps if it is adequate and reduces load.
- Configure audio and replay sources. Confirm the intended audio source is routed into the stream, and that your scene or media source plays the correct files in the intended sequence. Listen for both the opening and transitions; a stream can remain connected while its audio is silent or its media source has ended.
- Start with a test broadcast. Send a representative segment with the same kind of motion, graphics, and audio as the planned replay. Check YouTube’s stream-health messages, OBS encoding load, dropped frames, audio continuity, and playback stability during an extended run before treating the configuration as production-ready.
Plan for a stream that runs beyond 12 hours
YouTube can automatically archive a live stream that is under 12 hours. If a stream exceeds 12 hours, YouTube says it may not be captured at all. That means a single 24/7 event is not a dependable way to create a complete YouTube replay archive. If preserving the program matters, keep a separate local recording; if you need distinct YouTube archives, consider ending and scheduling separate shorter events. See YouTube’s archive guidance.

YouTube’s stream settings also include auto-start and auto-stop controls, which let the creator start or stop streaming from the encoder. A reusable custom key directs the encoder feed to YouTube, but anyone with access to the key may be able to send a feed, so handle it as a credential.
Copyright and monetization risks for a Malayalam news replay
Permission to broadcast is not the same as monetization eligibility
Before replaying bulletins, footage, readings, graphics, music, or other material from another publisher, confirm that your license covers live streaming, the relevant territories, and the intended duration. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content, including another live broadcast. It may replace a feed with a placeholder, interrupt it, or terminate it. Even a licensed rights-holder may need to add the channel to a Content ID allowlist; archived streams can also receive Content ID claims after they end. Details are in YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance.

Reused-content rules apply separately
YouTube’s monetization policies require original and authentic content and define reused content to include material taken from YouTube or another online source without significant original commentary, substantive modification, or educational or entertainment value. The policy is assessed at the channel level, and permission alone does not resolve whether content qualifies for monetization. A channel that simply loops another outlet’s bulletins or news-feed readings therefore faces a material reused-content monetization risk. Original reporting, meaningful commentary, or substantial editorial transformation may be relevant, but no particular channel’s outcome can be guaranteed. Copyright rules continue to apply independently. Read YouTube channel monetization policies.
Troubleshoot an unstable or incomplete replay
- YouTube reports a poor or unstable connection: Your actual sustained upload may be below the configured bitrate or may fluctuate. Test at the intended output, then lower bitrate, resolution, or frame rate until the stream remains stable.
- OBS shows encoding overload or dropped frames: The computer may be struggling to encode or render the scene. Try 30 fps, reduce output resolution, or simplify the scene, then repeat a representative test. OBS advises testing system resources, particularly when using 60 fps.
- The stream connects but the video is blank or wrong: Check the active scene, media source, output resolution, and selected YouTube stream key. Confirm that the feed is being sent to the intended live event.
- Viewers hear silence or intermittent audio: Verify the audio source and encoder routing in OBS and monitor transitions between replay files. A successful connection does not confirm continuous audio.
- YouTube interrupts or replaces the feed: Investigate third-party content detection and confirm licenses, territory coverage, and any required Content ID allowlisting with the rights-holder.
- A 24-hour event is missing from archives: A stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured. Use a separate recording or shorter events if preserving the complete material is important.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you do not want a computer, OBS, or your home internet connection to stay on, StreamNeo keeps an uploaded video or playlist looping to YouTube from the cloud. Upload your recording, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. StreamNeo supports the video as uploaded up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, with no re-encode or quality tiers; it can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. Can I reuse the same YouTube stream key for a continuous OBS setup?
YouTube says a custom key can be reused; protect it like a password and reset it if compromised.
Does using a 24/7 replay automatically make a Malayalam news channel eligible for monetization?
No. YouTube evaluates reused content separately from copyright permission, and eligibility depends on the channel’s content and review.
