For a 1080p 60 fps YouTube Live stream, set the video bitrate to 17 Mbps for H.264 or 12 Mbps for H.265/HEVC or AV1; YouTube’s listed minimums are 6 Mbps and 4 Mbps, respectively. Use CBR, a two-second keyframe interval, and AAC or MP3 audio. These are YouTube’s live-ingestion recommendations—not upload-speed guarantees—and the Hindi language of a playlist does not change the encoder settings.
Recommended 1080p60 settings
YouTube’s encoder guidance lists different bitrate recommendations by video codec. Choose a codec your encoder supports and use its corresponding row. The figures below are from YouTube Help’s live encoder table; the retrieved page does not state a publication date.
| Setting | H.264 | H.265/HEVC or AV1 |
|---|---|---|
| Resolution and frame rate | 1080p at 60 fps | 1080p at 60 fps |
| Video bitrate minimum | 6 Mbps | 4 Mbps |
| Video bitrate recommended | 17 Mbps | 12 Mbps |
These bitrate values apply to live ingestion, not video uploads. They describe the video stream, not the full stream bitrate or the upload capacity your connection must provide. Allow capacity for audio and protocol overhead as well, and select a rate your connection can sustain consistently. YouTube lists H.264, H.265 (HEVC), and AV1 as supported codecs and does not say one is best for every encoder or network. YouTube Help: encoder settings.
Encoding, keyframes, audio, and color
- Rate control: use constant bitrate (CBR), which YouTube recommends.
- Keyframes: set a two-second interval; do not exceed four seconds.
- Audio: YouTube lists AAC or MP3. Its guidance specifies 128 Kbps for stereo and 384 Kbps for 5.1 audio. 5.1 over RTMP/RTMPS is supported only with AAC.
- SDR color: use Rec. 709, 8-bit.
- Protocol: YouTube recommends RTMP or RTMPS. RTMPS is the secure extension of RTMP.
Choose automatic or manual resolution
YouTube recommends automatic resolution and frame-rate detection by default. That is the straightforward choice if you do not need to force a particular ingest resolution. If you need to select resolution manually, create a custom stream key and enable Turn on manual settings under Stream Resolution in the live setup. Follow the current controls in YouTube Studio, since interface labels can change. YouTube Help’s encoder guidance explains the manual-setting requirement.

For those looking to fine-tune image parameters or enhance sound quality, EMEETLINK software is available for advanced customization. Both simplicity and advanced needs can be met effortlessly.
Configure and test the stream
- Choose the encoder configuration. Set 1080p at 60 fps and select H.264, H.265/HEVC, or AV1 only if your encoder supports it. Enter the recommended video bitrate for that codec from the table.
- Set the remaining video and audio parameters. Choose CBR, a two-second keyframe interval, and an audio format and rate appropriate to your stream. For SDR, use Rec. 709 at 8-bit.
- Connect to YouTube. Use RTMP or RTMPS. Enter the stream key in your encoder and use the stream URL to tell it where to send the feed. Treat the key as a credential; if you think it has been exposed, reset it using YouTube’s instructions. YouTube Studio can reuse previous stream settings, but verify the key and destination before starting.
- Check connection capacity. Confirm that your available upload bandwidth can carry the total stream bitrate reliably, not merely the video bitrate. A connection that only just reaches the target can leave too little room for variation.
- Run a representative test. Include audio and movement similar to the planned playlist or program, then check YouTube’s stream health and any warnings. YouTube Help puts it plainly: “Make sure to test before you start your live stream.”
- Monitor while live. Watch stream health and messages in YouTube Studio. If health degrades, reduce the encoder bitrate or resolve the network issue rather than assuming the recommended figure will work on every connection.
What changes—and does not change—for a Hindi playlist
YouTube’s Hindi-language encoder help gives the same 1080p60 bitrate figures and technical recommendations as its English guidance: 12 Mbps recommended for AV1/H.265 and 17 Mbps for H.264. The playlist’s language does not establish a different bitrate, resolution, codec, or keyframe interval. Keep technical ingest settings separate from editorial decisions such as playlist order, titles, and content selection; the encoder guidance does not prescribe those choices. YouTube Help in Hindi: लाइव एन्कोडर की सेटिंग, बिटरेट, और रिज़ॉल्यूशन.
Latency: weigh interaction against playback stability
Latency is the delay between capture and viewer playback. Lower latency can make interaction feel more immediate, but YouTube cautions that it can also mean more viewer buffering. Choose with the intended viewing experience in mind: a playlist primarily meant for continuous playback may not need the lowest possible delay, while a stream with audience interaction may value faster feedback. YouTube’s live stream settings guidance describes the trade-off; it does not prescribe one setting for every playlist. YouTube Help: live stream settings.

Troubleshoot common configuration problems
- Stream health reports connection trouble: check total upload capacity and network stability. Lower the video bitrate if the connection cannot sustain the configured total reliably, then test again.
- The stream does not appear at the intended resolution: YouTube recommends automatic detection by default. If you must force resolution, use a custom stream key and enable manual settings under Stream Resolution; check both encoder output and the setting in Studio.
- The encoder cannot use AV1 or H.265: use a supported codec your encoder does provide, such as H.264, and follow that codec’s bitrate recommendation. Do not apply the lower AV1/H.265 figure to an H.264 stream.
- Keyframe or rate-control warnings appear: use CBR and a two-second keyframe interval, keeping the interval at four seconds or less.
- YouTube is not receiving the encoder feed: verify the stream URL and key in the encoder. If the key may have been compromised, reset it in YouTube rather than continuing to use it.
- Viewers report buffering: investigate stream health and connection capacity. If you selected lower latency, consider whether the added buffering risk is acceptable for this audience.
