Start with what viewers need to know—such as your name, a commission queue, or an alert—then place it in a margin or corner and check it against your actual canvas capture. There is no single best vendor for every artist: the right fit may be a ready-made theme, a few separate widgets, or a custom layout.
Choose the information before choosing the design
Art streams have a simple constraint: viewers came to see the work take shape. A border, label, or animated alert should not hide the drawing, your hand, or an important part of the software interface. Decide which information genuinely helps viewers, then give it only the space it needs.
- Useful essentials: a short name or channel label, if viewers need it to identify the stream.
- For commission streams: a compact queue or commission-status label can explain what is being drawn or whether slots are available. The art-stream guide from Studio Queues describes queue position and purchase information as relevant commission-stream details. Read its OBS browser-source guide.
- For interaction: alerts may be useful, but consider whether they need to appear over the canvas or can sit in a clear margin.
Leave out decorative elements that compete with the work or repeat information viewers can already see. Preview every element with the real canvas capture visible; a layout that looks clear on a blank mockup may cover the drawing once the scene is assembled.
Where to look for overlays and widgets
StreamElements: browse themes or individual components
The StreamElements Elements Gallery presents themes, widgets, alerts, and scenes. It says, “Choose from dozens of FREE animated alerts and overlays, or create your own with our powerful visual editor.” That makes the gallery a useful discovery point, not proof that every item is art-specific or free. Its listings include a Pixel Art Theme Package, but the name alone does not establish that it is designed for art creation or commission queues. The gallery also links to Fiverr for custom design. Streamlabs: search by style and install in your streaming setup
Streamlabs’ support guide describes searching its overlay library by keyword, color, type, and other filters. It documents installation in Streamlabs Desktop, importing an .overlay file, and using overlays with OBS Studio either through a plugin or scene import. Some designer overlays may include matching widgets such as an Alert Box or Chat Box, according to Streamlabs’ guide; check the particular package contents rather than assuming they are included. Streamlabs support, in an article by Kevin dated February 6, 2026, says, “Overlays are an easy way to personalize your live stream and boost viewer engagement.” Treat the engagement phrase as vendor copy, not as a measured result. A popular or polished pack still needs to work with your scene and keep the artwork visible.

Custom design: when your scene has specific needs
A custom layout may make sense if you need a commission queue label, status information, or a design fitted around a particular camera-and-canvas arrangement. StreamElements links to Fiverr as a custom-design destination, but that does not establish a current price, license, or artist-specific service quality. Before commissioning, compare portfolios and confirm:
- Whether you receive editable source files as well as exported assets.
- How many revisions are included and what changes cost extra.
- Usage rights, including whether commercial use is allowed.
- Compatibility with your streaming software and intended scene dimensions.
Compare options by how they behave on your canvas
Assess a candidate overlay in the scene where you will actually use it. Do not rely on download counts, promotional claims, or general streamer popularity as evidence that it suits an art stream.

Pick the right format and placement
Use transparency that matches the asset
Elgato’s OBS overlay guide specifies PNG for static overlays that need transparency and WEBM for animated overlays that preserve transparency. Check the export itself in your scene: transparency support in a format does not by itself guarantee that a particular file was exported correctly. See Elgato’s Stream Overlays guide.
Fit the composition to the scene
Elgato lists 16:9, 4:3, 9:16, and 1:1 as common webcam-overlay ratios. Those are options to consider for webcam overlays, not a rule that every art overlay should use one of those shapes. For an art stream, arrange the drawing capture first, then place labels and alerts where they do not obstruct the primary content. Preview the full scene at the output dimensions viewers will see.

Use browser sources for live or changing information
A browser source displays a webpage inside an OBS scene. Studio Queues describes commission queues, alerts, chat, and countdowns as possible browser-source content, and recommends matching the source dimensions to the intended output while checking transparency and scene behavior. Its suggested pixel width is practical guidance for its own setup, not a universal standard. Size the source for your actual layout and verify that the widget remains legible without taking over the canvas.

- Map the scene. Capture the canvas and any camera view first. Mark the areas that must remain visible, including the drawing and your hand if it is in frame.
- Write down the minimum information. Choose only the labels or widgets viewers need, such as a commission status or a concise alert.
- Find a suitable starting point. Browse StreamElements for themes or standalone components, search Streamlabs with relevant terms and filters, or commission a design if a standard layout cannot fit the scene.
- Check the actual asset. Confirm its format, transparency, included components, software compatibility, price, and usage rights on the specific item or provider page.
- Add it to a test scene. Install it using the provider’s instructions for your software. For a browser source, set dimensions for your intended output and check transparency and scene behavior.
- Preview at viewing size. Look at the complete scene—not just the overlay file—and verify that labels can be read while the artwork remains the focal point.
- Test changes and alerts. Trigger or preview interactive elements where possible. Check that an alert or queue update does not unexpectedly cover the drawing or remain on screen longer than you want.
