Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →If a stream alert is missing, stuck, or silent, test it in the alert provider first. If the provider preview works but the broadcast does not, check the alert’s source or URL in your streaming software, then inspect visibility, settings, and audio routing. This guide covers OBS Studio, Streamlabs Desktop and Alert Box, Twitch Alerts, and other browser-source widgets.
Start by finding where the alert fails
- Send a test alert from the provider. Use the provider dashboard or alert manager. If it fails in the provider preview too, check the event and alert settings there and confirm the provider account is connected.
- If the preview works, check the stream source. Confirm the correct alert source is in the scene and that its URL is the current one from the provider. In Twitch’s Alerts FAQ, Twitch Help calls failing to copy the alert browser source into broadcasting software the most common reason alerts do not appear. Twitch Help’s Alerts FAQ explains where to copy it from an alert set.
- Test in the scene before going live. Streamlabs recommends testing alerts before a broadcast. In Streamlabs Desktop, use its dedicated Alert Box source; in other streaming software, add the provider’s browser source as directed by that provider. The exact controls depend on the software and source type. See Streamlabs’ alert setup guide.
OBS Studio does not provide alerts directly: its official FAQ explains that alerts are supplied by a third-party provider and added to OBS as a Browser Source. The provider controls which events and visual or audio assets are available. OBS Project’s alert FAQ describes this distinction.
If an alert is not appearing or is stuck
Work through these checks one at a time, sending a test alert after each change. Labels vary between OBS, Streamlabs Desktop, and providers.
Check scene visibility and layering
- Make sure the alert source is enabled in the active scene.
- Move it above sources that might cover it, such as a full-screen video or an opaque graphic.
- Confirm the correct alert widget or theme is being used in that scene or scene collection.
Check moderation and widget customization
- Look for an alert held for manual approval. An unlimited moderation delay or other approval setting can prevent it from playing until accepted.
- If custom HTML or CSS is enabled, temporarily disable it unless it is required. A customization error can affect how the widget appears.
Refresh the browser source
Refresh the source. If that does not help, remove and add it again using the provider’s current widget URL. Do not assume an old URL remains valid after changing accounts or widget settings.

Test browser acceleration, then restart
As a diagnostic, toggle browser-source hardware acceleration in the streaming software and restart the application after changing it. This is a troubleshooting option, not a guaranteed fix; test again after the restart.
Check the account, connection, and local software state
- Log out of the alert provider and back in, or relink the connected account if the provider offers that option.
- Check whether firewall or security software is blocking the streaming app or its browser source.
- Verify the computer’s date and time, then clear the provider or browser-source cache if the software provides that option.
Leave token resets until later
Resetting an API token may invalidate widget URLs that depend on it. Streamlabs warns that after a token reset, every existing widget URL using that token must be replaced. Try the less disruptive checks first, and update all affected sources if you do reset it. See Streamlabs’ Alerts and Widget Troubleshooting page.

If the alert appears but has no sound
- Check the provider’s alert settings and confirm that a sound is selected and not muted.
- In the streaming software’s audio mixer or advanced audio settings, check the alert audio’s monitoring mode and whether it is assigned to the recording track you need.
- Check the alert source’s audio routing option, if available. Streamlabs’ troubleshooting guidance includes “Route Audio to OBS” for its Alert Box.
- Test both the recording and stream output if they behave differently. A sound can be audible to you through monitoring but absent from the output, or vice versa.
Monitoring, track assignment, and routing labels differ by software and source type; use the controls shown for the specific alert source rather than assuming every browser widget exposes the same options.
If only some event alerts are missing
First confirm that the event type is enabled in the provider and that the connected account supports it. If other alerts work, the issue may be event delivery or account privacy rather than the scene source.

- Twitch resubscriptions: Streamlabs Support says Twitch resubscription alerts may depend on the subscriber sharing the resubscription in chat. A missing alert in that case may not be fixable in OBS.
- YouTube subscriptions: Streamlabs Support says subscriber privacy settings can prevent subscriber alerts from being available. Its troubleshooting page, last updated April 25, 2025, also reports that YouTube subscriber alerts can take up to four hours. Treat that delay as the behavior reported on that page at that date; delivery behavior can change.
For event-specific gaps, check the provider’s current event documentation and the relevant platform account settings before replacing a widget that works for other event types.
What changes between Twitch Alerts and provider widgets?
The practical difference is where alerts are configured and how the source is added. The available event types and privacy-related delivery limits also depend on the platform and provider. Official documentation does not establish a reliability, latency, or feature-completeness winner.

| Approach | Where alerts are configured | How to add them | Event and delivery considerations |
|---|---|---|---|
| Twitch Alerts | In Twitch’s alert set. | Copy the alert browser source into the broadcasting software, as described in Twitch Help’s Alerts FAQ. | Available alerts and delivery depend on Twitch’s event support and applicable account or privacy conditions. |
| Third-party provider widget, such as Streamlabs Alert Box | In the provider’s dashboard or alert manager. | Use the provider’s dedicated source in its own desktop software, or its current browser-source URL in other compatible software. OBS embeds provider widgets as Browser Sources. | Event types, appearance, and sound options are controlled by the provider and may also be affected by platform limits. See OBS Project’s alert FAQ. |
Or let it run in the cloud

Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it streams the uploaded file as made, up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. UPI and cards are available in India; card checkout is available worldwide. See StreamNeo and plan details. This is for uploaded-video YouTube streams, not camera broadcasts or alerts.
