For a prerecorded Hindi video, start with HandBrake’s Creator preset closest to your source resolution and frame rate, then check that the output is MP4 with progressive H.264 video and that the Hindi audio track is selected. Preserve the source frame rate; choose constant quality or average bitrate based on your file-size and quality priorities, and preview representative scenes before encoding the full video. If by “streamed continuously” you mean a 24/7 YouTube Live broadcast, that is a separate workflow: HandBrake makes a video file, while live encoder settings govern the broadcast.
First decide: upload a long video or run a YouTube Live stream?
HandBrake encodes a file for upload; it does not publish or continuously broadcast that file to YouTube. For a prerecorded upload, use YouTube’s upload recommendations. For a live broadcast, use YouTube’s live ingestion guidance instead. The bitrate and keyframe guidance for live encoding should not be applied to a HandBrake file as though the workflows were the same.
- Long prerecorded video: encode it in HandBrake, then upload the finished file to YouTube.
- 24/7 prerecorded playback as a live stream: prepare the video file separately, then send it through a live streaming setup or a cloud service designed to keep a YouTube stream running.
YouTube’s upload recommendations and live guidance can change, so check the current official pages before encoding or configuring a broadcast: YouTube recommended upload encoding settings and YouTube Live encoder settings.
Recommended HandBrake settings for a prerecorded Hindi video
Choose a source-matched Creator preset
- Open the source video in HandBrake.
- Choose a Creator preset with a resolution and frame-rate class close to the source. HandBrake describes these presets as suitable for uploading to video-hosting services such as YouTube. Its official preset table includes MP4/H.264 Creator variants: HandBrake official presets.
- Inspect the resulting settings in your installed HandBrake version. Preset labels and available encoders can vary by release.
Do not upscale a smaller source just to select a higher-resolution preset. An upscale cannot restore detail that the original recording did not capture.

Keep the original frame rate and use progressive video
Set the output frame rate to match the recording and choose the option that preserves the source frame rate rather than forcing a different one. YouTube’s upload guidance says: “Content should be encoded and uploaded in the same frame rate it was recorded.” If the source is interlaced, deinterlace it before upload. YouTube recommends progressive scan for uploads.
Use MP4 and H.264 for broad compatibility
For a compatibility-first encode, use an MP4 container and progressive H.264 video. YouTube’s upload guidance also recommends variable bitrate and specifies additional codec parameters, including a closed GOP with a GOP length of half the frame rate. These upload specifications describe the encoded file; they are not the same as YouTube Live’s keyframe-interval recommendation.

Choose constant quality or average bitrate
There is no single HandBrake RF value that is right for every Hindi video or source. The best constant-quality setting depends on the encoder, source detail, motion, and your tolerance for larger files or longer encoding. Make a short preview containing both detailed and high-motion scenes, inspect it at the size viewers are likely to watch, and adjust before encoding the full video. HandBrake’s preview and queue workflow is documented in its official documentation.
If you prefer average bitrate, YouTube’s current upload recommendations for SDR include these reference rates:

| Upload resolution | Frame-rate class | YouTube recommended bitrate |
|---|---|---|
| 720p SDR | 24, 25, or 30 fps | 5 Mbps |
| 720p SDR | 48, 50, or 60 fps | 7.5 Mbps |
| 1080p SDR | 24, 25, or 30 fps | 8 Mbps |
| 1080p SDR | 48, 50, or 60 fps | 12 Mbps |
These are YouTube’s upload recommendations, not results from an independent test or Hindi-specific study. They are reference values for average bitrate, not a reason to reduce a higher-quality source unnecessarily. For other resolutions, frame rates, or HDR, consult YouTube’s current upload table rather than extrapolating these figures.
Preserve Hindi audio deliberately
Check the audio track list and select the Hindi track you want viewers to hear. Language-based defaults depend on metadata in the source; if a track is unlabeled, or HandBrake selects the wrong one, choose it manually. AAC-LC in the MP4 output is a compatibility-oriented choice. YouTube also lists Opus as an accepted audio codec and recommends 48 kHz audio. Confirm the actual output settings rather than assuming a preset retained the desired track.

Add Hindi subtitles only if you need them
You can import an SRT file or use a supported embedded subtitle track. Choose based on whether captions should be permanent or optional:
- Burned-in subtitles: always visible because they become part of the video image. HandBrake documents support for burning in one subtitle track.
- Soft subtitles: viewers can turn them on or off when the output container and player support the track. Soft subtitles are not supported in WebM.
Review the preview carefully for Hindi script rendering, line breaks, timing, and placement. If viewers need to choose captions, verify the finished output and YouTube playback rather than assuming every subtitle format will remain selectable.

Encode and check the result
- Preview a representative section. Include fine detail, movement, and any scenes with subtitles. Check picture quality, Hindi audio selection, and caption readability.
- Adjust one setting at a time. If the image looks poor, revisit the quality or bitrate choice; if the file is too large, balance compression against visible artifacts. Avoid changing the frame rate without a source-specific reason.
- Queue and encode the complete video. Encoding time depends on duration, resolution, complexity, settings, and computer performance.
- Play the exported file before uploading. Confirm that the beginning, middle, and end play correctly and that audio and subtitles behave as intended.
- Upload the file to YouTube. Allow YouTube to process the video’s available playback resolutions before judging its final appearance.
If “continuous” means a 24/7 prerecorded YouTube Live stream
HandBrake’s role ends when it produces the video file. A live setup must send that content to YouTube using a supported live protocol and encoder configuration. Follow YouTube’s current live encoder settings for the available protocols, codecs, resolution-specific bitrate ranges, and other ingestion requirements. YouTube recommends a live keyframe interval of 2 seconds, not exceeding 4 seconds. That is live-broadcast guidance, not a HandBrake upload setting.
For a do-it-yourself live setup, configure the encoder or streaming software against YouTube’s live guidance, provide the stream key through the appropriate secure settings, and keep the device and internet connection running for the broadcast. Test the stream privately or unlisted where appropriate before relying on a long-running broadcast. Copyright and YouTube’s rules still apply: having a file that plays continuously does not grant permission to rebroadcast its music or video.
Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo keeps a prerecorded YouTube channel stream running from the cloud: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It plays uploaded videos, not a camera feed. Nothing has to stay on at home; each slot streams the uploaded file as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
Troubleshooting common problems
The export looks softer or more blocky than the source
- Check whether the source-matched preset lowered the resolution or used an unsuitable quality setting.
- Preview detailed and fast-moving scenes; adjust constant quality or average bitrate based on visible results.
- Do not treat YouTube’s reference bitrate as a guarantee of visual quality for every source.
The video looks jerky or motion feels wrong
- Check that the output frame rate matches the recorded frame rate.
- If the source is interlaced, deinterlace it for upload rather than preserving interlaced output.
The wrong audio plays, or Hindi audio is missing
- Inspect the source’s audio tracks and explicitly select the intended Hindi track.
- If the track lacks language metadata, do not rely on automatic language selection.
- Play the exported file before uploading to confirm the chosen audio is present.
Hindi subtitles are missing or cannot be switched off
- For always-visible captions, verify that the intended track is the one burned into the picture.
- For selectable captions, use a supported soft subtitle format and container; soft subtitles are unsupported in WebM.
- Check timing, script rendering, and player behavior in the exported file.
The stream stops even though the HandBrake file is fine
A successfully encoded file does not keep a live broadcast running by itself. Check the live encoder, YouTube stream status, internet connection, and device that is sending the broadcast. Use YouTube’s live encoder guidance for live-specific bitrate and keyframe requirements rather than changing HandBrake’s upload settings.
