Hindi does not require special OBS encoder settings; the important decisions are choosing the correct audio source, using a bitrate your connection can sustain, and confirming you have the rights to stream the music.
1. Confirm YouTube live access and create a stream
- Check eligibility. YouTube’s current live-stream guidance says the channel must be verified, must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days, and the person streaming must be at least 16. Check the channel’s status before scheduling a program; see YouTube’s live-streaming access requirements.
- Create or schedule an encoder stream. In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream using streaming software or an encoder. Keep the Live Control Room available so you can monitor the stream and its health.
- Copy the stream key into OBS. YouTube describes the key as the credential that lets an encoder send a feed to a stream. In OBS, open Settings → Stream, select YouTube as the service if offered, and enter the stream key from YouTube Studio. Treat it like a password: do not show it on screen, publish it, or share it. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio. See YouTube’s stream settings guidance.
2. Build a simple radio scene
In OBS, create a scene for the program and add a station image, logo, or text source with the station and show name. For an audio-first broadcast, a clean, legible still image is often easier to manage than unnecessary animation. In OBS, sources higher in the Sources list appear over sources beneath them, so place text or a logo above a background image. 3. Route the radio program audio into OBS
Audio routing depends on where the program is playing and on your operating system, OBS version, and hardware. Select the source that actually carries the broadcast feed, then confirm it in the Audio Mixer while the program is playing.
Program playing on the same computer
In OBS, open Settings → Audio and choose the appropriate desktop or application audio device for the computer and OBS setup. OBS may capture desktop audio by default, but its quick-start guidance recommends selecting devices manually if the Audio Mixer meters do not move or the wrong sound is being captured.

Program arriving from a mixer or audio interface
Connect the mixer or interface, then select that device as the audio input in OBS. If the program combines several sources in the mixer, check that the intended mix—not a monitor return or an unrelated input—is reaching OBS.
Optional host microphone
Add a separate microphone input only if the host will make announcements, conduct interviews, or speak between tracks. If OBS is already capturing the microphone through another route, do not add a second copy of the same signal.

Check for silence, echo, and unintended sounds
- Play the program and watch the relevant Audio Mixer meters. If they do not move, verify the selected device, its connection, and the operating-system input or capture permissions.
- If the same program audio reaches OBS through desktop capture and an interface or other input, mute one route to prevent doubled, echoing audio.
- Disable unused desktop or microphone devices so notifications, room sound, or monitoring audio do not go to air.
- Listen on headphones while testing. If practical, use a private or unlisted rehearsal and check the playback as a viewer.
OBS documents device selection and meter checks, but there is no single routing recipe that applies to every operating system and audio setup.
4. Set OBS output and encoder settings
Use YouTube’s encoder recommendations as a starting point, then test the actual computer and connection. In OBS, review Settings → Output for streaming encoder options and bitrate, and Settings → Video for the output resolution and frame rate. Labels and available encoders can vary by OBS build and hardware. Use RTMPS if it is available. YouTube lists RTMP/RTMPS, H.264, H.265, and AV1 video; AAC or MP3 audio; constant bitrate (CBR); and a recommended keyframe interval of two seconds, not over four seconds. Follow the encoder options available in your setup and YouTube’s current encoder settings guidance.

Audio settings for stereo
YouTube’s advanced recommendations list AAC or MP3 audio as supported by the encoder, a 44.1 kHz sample rate, and 128 kbps for stereo audio. Set OBS to a compatible sample rate and stereo output, and make sure the audio bitrate is configured separately from video bitrate.

These figures are YouTube recommendations for H.264 video, not a guarantee of stable performance on a particular network or computer. Audio bitrate is separate. A static radio graphic may look clear at a modest resolution, but do not assume that visual simplicity changes YouTube’s published bitrate recommendations. Leave headroom for normal upload variation and verify stability with a representative test.
5. Rehearse and monitor the broadcast
- Test the real signal path. Before the first public program, OBS recommends doing a test. Record locally or rehearse privately for several minutes using the same audio sources, transitions, and visual motion planned for the broadcast.
- Listen and watch the recording or test playback. Check for silence, clipping, hum, background noise, doubled audio, an unbalanced voice-to-music mix, and audio/video sync problems.
- Check YouTube’s stream health. View the stream as an audience member and monitor the Live Control Room’s health indicators and messages. YouTube recommends testing with audio and movement similar to the intended stream and monitoring health during the event.
- Go live only after the test passes. Start OBS streaming and confirm that YouTube receives the expected picture and sound before relying on the stream for a scheduled program.
6. Secure music rights before going live
A license to play music on an internet radio service, or permission to play it on another platform, does not by itself establish permission for a YouTube livestream. YouTube’s livestream terms say the streamer represents that they have the necessary worldwide rights for the live content, including music licensing rights involving artists, record labels, publishers, public-performance licenses, and other royalty participants.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match can trigger a warning and placeholder image; if the material remains, YouTube may interrupt or terminate the stream. Even a streamer with a license may need the rights owner to add the channel to its Content ID allowlist, or the stream can still be interrupted. Before broadcasting, confirm rights for the music and recording, the relevant territories, live-stream use, and any planned archive with the rights holders or qualified counsel. Do not treat YouTube Creator Music as blanket permission for a radio livestream: its cited usage guidance says Creator Music tracks are for long-form videos, not live streams or Shorts. See Creator Music usage details.
7. Troubleshoot common problems
