Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →For a single 24/7 Gurbani feed to YouTube, StreamNeo is the simplest option to try first: upload your videos, add your YouTube stream key, and let the service loop them from the cloud. Its first day is free with no card, and any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps uses one flat price per slot. If you want to manage your own encoder, compare a self-managed VPS such as DigitalOcean Droplets or Amazon Lightsail; AWS’s Live Streaming solution is a more elaborate managed architecture suited to needs such as redundant inputs and multi-format delivery.
Which cloud approach fits a continuous Gurbani stream?
The right choice depends on whether you want to operate an encoder yourself or hand off the continuous playback job. A VPS keeps an encoder running, but you configure and maintain it. A managed architecture can add redundancy and packaging, but brings more components and cost. For a YouTube-only loop of uploaded videos, StreamNeo avoids running a server or encoder yourself.
| Option | What it does | Best fit | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo | Loops uploaded videos from the cloud to YouTube; add your stream key once. | A channel that wants an always-on YouTube feed without keeping a computer running. | It streams to YouTube only and plays uploaded videos; it is not a camera-live service. |
| DigitalOcean Droplet with SRS | A self-managed VPS; DigitalOcean’s SRS Marketplace listing describes virtual live streaming, FFmpeg transcoding, and restreaming support. | Operators comfortable administering Linux, SRS, and a continuous encoder. | The listing does not establish that a particular Droplet can sustain every format or resolution. |
| Amazon Lightsail VPS | A virtual server bundle that can run an encoder you install and maintain. | Operators comparing included transfer and server resources for a self-managed setup. | The smallest bundle is not proven suitable for every encoding workload. |
| AWS Live Streaming solution | A multi-service architecture using MediaLive, MediaPackage, and CloudFront, with redundant inputs and packaged delivery formats. | More involved requirements such as input redundancy or multi-format distribution. | Its published example is for a documented architecture and region, not a quote for one YouTube channel. |
StreamNeo: cloud looping without managing an encoder

AWS Live Streaming solution
AWS’s Live Streaming on AWS implementation guide, published in August 2023, describes redundant input feeds, transcoding with MediaLive, packaging with MediaPackage, and delivery through CloudFront. The guide gives an example estimate of $69.74 per month for US East (N. Virginia). AWS says prices can change and recommends checking each service’s pricing; that example is not a quote for this channel. For one continuous feed to YouTube, this multi-component approach may be more than you need.

Estimate bandwidth before choosing a VPS
For a stream that runs continuously, outbound data adds up quickly. Use this estimate: bitrate in megabits per second × streamed seconds ÷ 8, then convert to bytes and add protocol overhead and a safety margin. At 8 Mbps for 30 days, the calculation is 8 × 2,592,000 ÷ 8 = 2,592,000 MB decimal, or about 2.6 TB before overhead. This is arithmetic based on bitrate and duration, not a vendor-reported allowance.
YouTube’s current encoder guidance recommends H.264 at 8 Mbps for 720p30 and 14 Mbps for 1080p30. Compare the resulting monthly transfer with the plan’s included allowance and overage terms before committing. The 8 Mbps example already exceeds the 1 TB transfer listed with the cited $5 Lightsail bundle; actual usage depends on stream bitrate and continuity.

Configure and operate your own YouTube encoder
A VPS is not a turnkey broadcast: you remain responsible for the source playlist, encoder configuration, process supervision, security updates, monitoring, and recovery. The exact commands and UI depend on the encoder and operating system; use the following order to avoid picking a server before you know the workload.
- Set the stream format first. Choose resolution and frame rate to suit your source material and audience. YouTube’s encoder guidance lists H.264 at 8 Mbps for 720p30 and 14 Mbps for 1080p30. YouTube supports RTMP/RTMPS and H.264, H.265, and AV1 in its published guidance; it recommends constant bitrate and a two-second keyframe interval, which should not exceed four seconds. See YouTube’s encoder settings guidance.
- Size compute for the actual task. If the server must transcode, its CPU and memory needs depend on the input codec, output codec, resolution, and frame rate. If it only relays an already encoded feed, the workload differs. No listed low-cost plan is established as adequate for every workload, so test your chosen configuration rather than assuming a tier will suffice.
- Check monthly egress. Calculate bitrate × seconds ÷ 8 for the planned schedule, then allow for protocol overhead and a margin. Confirm the VPS plan’s outbound transfer allowance, excess-transfer charges, and region before deployment.
- Set up the YouTube ingest securely. Create or schedule the live stream in YouTube Studio, obtain the stream key and ingest details, and keep the key private. YouTube recommends RTMPS, an encrypted RTMP connection; its RTMPS guide, last updated September 14, 2026, specifies the valid endpoint and port 443. Use the endpoint and key provided for your stream rather than guessing an ingest URL.
- Run a full preflight. Start the complete audio/video path before the public launch and inspect the preview and stream health. YouTube explicitly advises: “Make sure to test before you start your live stream.” Confirm that the audio is present, the picture is stable, and the selected resolution and frame rate are being delivered.
- Supervise the process continuously. Configure a service manager or equivalent process supervisor to restart an encoder after a crash. Review logs, set alerts for a stopped process or failed ingest, apply security updates, and document how to restart or replace the stream. These are operational safeguards, not an uptime guarantee.
- Monitor YouTube stream health. YouTube’s LiveStreams API documentation identifies health issues including low video bitrate, frame-rate mismatch, and missing audio. Check stream health after launch and when viewers report a problem; restarting blindly can hide an encoder or source fault.
Rights and YouTube policy for Gurbani content
Hosting does not grant permission to broadcast. Before streaming, verify the rights for the exact Gurbani recording or performance and for any artwork or video used with it. A devotional or religious purpose does not by itself establish permission. Confirm the applicable rights with the relevant rights holders, and review YouTube’s current rules for live content and continuous streams before publishing. The cited cloud-service documentation does not settle the rights status or policy eligibility of any particular recording.
Common problems and what to check
- The stream stops after a server or encoder failure: check the process supervisor, encoder logs, server resource pressure, and whether the source file or playlist reached an end. Confirm the restart and recovery procedure rather than assuming a VPS provider will restart the broadcast for you.
- YouTube reports low bitrate: compare the encoder’s actual output with the selected resolution’s guidance, verify constant-bitrate configuration, and inspect network egress for congestion or dropped packets.
- Picture motion looks wrong or health reports a frame-rate mismatch: verify that source, encoder, and YouTube stream settings agree on frame rate and resolution.
- Viewers hear silence: check that the selected audio track is enabled at the source and encoder, then confirm audio is present in YouTube’s preview and health status.
- The VPS transfer allowance runs out or costs rise: recalculate from actual bitrate and hours streamed, include overhead, and compare the result with the plan’s allowance and overage terms.
- The source is rejected, muted, blocked, or interrupted: check rights and YouTube’s applicable content rules for the exact material; changing cloud providers does not resolve a rights or policy problem.
