If your Lightsail charges are billed by AWS India, you can pay the AWS bill with UPI in the Billing and Cost Management console. Open Payments, select the outstanding bill, choose Complete payment, then Use UPI Scan and Pay and Verify and pay. Scan the QR code with a UPI app and approve the payment within 10 minutes.
Check that your bill is eligible for UPI
Lightsail charges are handled through AWS billing. Find your bill in the AWS Billing and Cost Management Dashboard, or choose Billing in the Lightsail console. The UPI payment instructions apply to AWS India bills; AWS says its India bills can be paid using supported cards, net banking, or UPI.
If UPI is not offered, check which AWS entity is the seller of record for your account and whether the bill is an AWS cloud-services invoice. AWS says new accounts with India as both their contact and billing address have an agreement with Amazon Web Services India Private Limited, but account details can differ.
An AWS cloud-services bill is not the same as an AWS Marketplace purchase. AWS Marketplace’s India FAQ says UPI and net banking are not currently available for purchases from India-based Marketplace sellers. Do not assume that the payment options for a Lightsail bill also apply to a Marketplace purchase.

Pay an outstanding Lightsail bill with UPI Scan and Pay
- Sign in to AWS and open the Billing and Cost Management console.
- Choose Payments in the navigation pane.
- Select the outstanding bill or bills you want to pay.
- Choose Complete payment.
- Choose Use UPI Scan and Pay, then select Verify and pay.
- On the next page, open a UPI app, scan the displayed QR code, and approve the transaction.
- Return to the Payments page and check for the payment success message.
AWS says the QR request expires if you do not approve it within 10 minutes. If it expires, restart the payment from the Billing console and scan the new QR code.
Choose between a one-time payment and UPI AutoPay

Set up UPI AutoPay
- In AWS Billing and Cost Management, open Payment preferences.
- Choose Add payment method, then select UPI AutoPay.
- Provide or select a billing address.
- Choose Add payment method, then Verify.
- Approve the mandate by scanning the displayed QR code with a UPI app.
- Return to Payment preferences and confirm that UPI AutoPay is selected and its status says AutoPay enabled.
If UPI payment is unavailable or fails
- UPI Scan and Pay is missing: Confirm that the charge is an AWS India cloud-services bill and check the account’s seller of record. Marketplace purchases have different payment rules.
- The QR request expired: Start the payment again in the Billing console and approve the newly displayed QR within 10 minutes.
- You approved payment but cannot confirm it: Return to Payments and look for the success message before treating the bill as paid.
- AutoPay is not active: Reopen Payment preferences and check that UPI AutoPay is selected and shows AutoPay enabled.
What paying the bill does—and does not—tell you about streaming
Paying a Lightsail invoice settles an AWS bill; it does not establish that a particular Lightsail configuration is suitable, performant, or cost-effective for streaming to YouTube. AWS’s billing guidance explains how to pay, not how to configure or validate a YouTube streaming setup.
