For a mostly static devotional image with music, start with OBS at 1280×720, 30 fps, H.264, CBR, a 2-second keyframe interval, and AAC stereo audio at 128 kbps and 44.1 kHz. YouTube’s recommended H.264 bitrate for 720p30 is 8,000 kbps; its 3,000 kbps minimum is a constrained starting floor, not a quality target. Choose a rate your sustained upload connection can support, then test the complete setup before broadcasting.
Recommended OBS settings for a low-motion music stream
This configuration is a practical starting point for a static devotional visual, not a guaranteed optimal preset. YouTube’s encoder specifications give the platform-aligned values; the choice of 720p30 reflects the relatively low motion and the value of preserving upload headroom.

These bitrate, protocol, and audio specifications are from YouTube’s live encoder settings guidance. Its advice is to test before starting a live stream and match quality to the connection; its published settings are recommendations, not a promise of uninterrupted operation.
Set up and test the encoder before going live
- Configure the video output. In OBS, open Settings → Video. Set the output resolution to 1280×720 and the common FPS value to 30. If your scene includes more motion than a static image, test that actual scene rather than assuming a low-motion preset will suit it.
- Configure streaming output. Open Settings → Output and select the streaming output controls. Choose H.264, CBR, a 2-second keyframe interval, and a video bitrate suited to sustained upload capacity. Start at 8,000 kbps if the connection can support YouTube’s recommended H.264 rate for 720p30; if it cannot, reduce the bitrate or resolution and test again. YouTube lists 3,000 kbps as the minimum for H.264 720p30.
- Set the audio format. Configure AAC stereo at 128 kbps and set the audio sample rate to 44.1 kHz. Play representative devotional material through the full audio chain and check for clipping, silence, or an unintended mono signal.
- Connect OBS to the YouTube stream. Follow YouTube’s encoder setup workflow to create or schedule the live stream and connect the encoder using the stream key. Treat the key as a credential: do not show it in a broadcast, screenshot, or public post. Select RTMPS when it is offered.
- Run a private or otherwise controlled test. Test the complete scene, representative audio, bitrate stability, stream health, and the scheduled start/stop process before the public broadcast. Check OBS’s dropped-frame indicator and YouTube Live Control Room rather than relying only on the configured bitrate.
OBS’s Help Portal explains that increasing dropped frames alongside a yellow or red connection status can indicate an unstable connection or one unable to keep up with the configured bitrate. OBS’s Auto-Configuration Wizard can help establish basic settings, but verify the actual result with a representative test.

Plan a 24/7 schedule around YouTube’s archive limit
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. A single planned 24/7 broadcast therefore cannot rely on that rule to create one automatically archived event covering the full day. If the archive matters, plan segments or restarts under the 12-hour threshold and verify that your channel’s workflow behaves as intended before relying on it. The automatic-archive guidance does not promise indefinite ingest or automatic recovery after an encoder, power, or network outage. See YouTube’s encoder streaming guide.
For a locally encoded stream, the computer, OBS, network equipment, and internet connection all remain part of the operating path. An optional UPS can help keep local encoder and network equipment powered through a brief power interruption; the needed capacity and runtime depend on that equipment. A UPS will not fix an ISP, YouTube ingest, or platform outage.

Clear the actual music rights before broadcasting
Hindi-language, devotional, religious, or traditional subject matter does not by itself establish that a recording is free to stream. Confirm rights for the specific composition, arrangement, performance, and sound recording you plan to use, for the intended livestream and territory. YouTube says live content must comply with its Community Guidelines and Terms of Service and may restrict or remove streams that violate its rules; see Get started with live streaming.
Troubleshoot common stream problems
- Dropped frames rise or connection status turns yellow or red: the connection may be unstable or unable to sustain the configured bitrate. Lower the bitrate or resolution, then test again while monitoring OBS and YouTube stream health.
- Audio is silent, too quiet, or distorted: check the selected OBS audio source, confirm that it is reaching the stream, and listen for clipping. Verify AAC stereo at 128 kbps and 44.1 kHz.
- The stream does not connect: confirm the correct YouTube stream key and encoder setup, and use RTMPS when available. If the key was exposed, replace it in YouTube and update OBS before resuming.
- The archive does not cover the full 24-hour schedule: automatic archiving applies to streams under 12 hours. Use planned shorter segments if the archive is needed and test the start/stop workflow in advance.
- A local power interruption stops the broadcast: a UPS may bridge a brief outage if sized for the equipment, but it cannot address network or platform failures. Check the encoder and stream health after power returns.
