To compare YouTube livestream ad revenue in India and the US, use the same channel, comparable livestreams and replays, and the same date range in YouTube Analytics. Select the Live filter and compare estimated ad revenue by viewer geography. Do not treat a single country rate as guaranteed: YouTube explains why ad markets can differ, but does not publish a current, apples-to-apples India-versus-US livestream payout benchmark.
Choose the metric that answers your question
For an ads-only comparison, use estimated ad revenue. YouTube’s ad revenue analytics guidance distinguishes it from CPM and RPM, which describe different sides and scopes of monetization.

A view is not the same as an ad impression or a monetized playback. Multiplying CPM by total views does not calculate creator earnings: not every view receives an ad, and CPM is an advertiser-side measure.
Make an apples-to-apples comparison in YouTube Analytics
- Confirm the comparison is eligible. Check that the channel is monetized and the livestream is eligible for Watch Page ads. Livestream Watch Page ad and Premium revenue require acceptance of the Watch Page Monetization Module; YouTube’s Partner Program overview explains YPP eligibility.
- Open YouTube Analytics and select Live. YouTube says the Live filter isolates livestreams and replays in the ad-revenue reporting view. This lets you avoid mixing in other video formats. See YouTube’s live-stream monetization guidance.
- Choose estimated ad revenue. For an ads-only result, do not substitute RPM, which can include other YouTube revenue sources.
- Set the same date range and compare viewer geography. Compare India and the United States for the same dates and, where possible, comparable streams or replays. A country’s total revenue alone is not a rate comparison if its audience size or content differs.
- State exactly what you compared. Report the date range, viewer geography, revenue metric, and whether the figures cover live broadcasts, replays, or both. If you compare efficiency, name the denominator and use the matching metric.
YouTube lists both India and the United States as monetized markets. That means advertisers can target those markets; it does not establish equal rates or a standard creator payout for either country. See YouTube’s monetized-markets list.

Why India and US results can differ
Geography can affect CPM because advertisers choose which geographies to reach, and competition varies across ad markets. YouTube also identifies seasonality and ad-format mix as factors that can affect CPM. Those factors can influence a channel’s observed results, but geography alone does not determine a fixed creator rate. The relationship is described in YouTube’s analytics guidance.
Ad delivery adds another source of variation. Ads may not serve when a stream is ineligible or monetization is off, a suitable ad is unavailable, a viewer does not match targeting, the viewer has recently seen an ad, or the viewer uses YouTube Premium. A live ad slot is not a guaranteed ad impression. As YouTube Help puts it, “Ad slots are not guaranteed to serve ads.”

Understand what livestream ad settings do—and do not do
For a monetized livestream with monetization enabled, YouTube says pre-roll and display ads are automatically on. Mid-roll ads can be inserted automatically or manually, but YouTube’s ad systems decide whether an available slot actually receives an ad. YouTube also says ads are turned off for a stream embedded on an external site with auto-start enabled. These controls affect ad opportunities; they do not guarantee ad fill or set a country’s CPM. YouTube names its Stream Deck integration as an option for inserting ads. It is an operational control, not a way to raise geography-based CPM or guarantee that an ad will run.

Keep ad revenue separate from other creator income
RPM may combine ads with YouTube Premium, memberships, Super Chat, and Super Stickers. For a question specifically about ad revenue, use estimated ad revenue instead. Sponsorships and merchandise are outside the RPM figure described by YouTube. Its pages on earning money on YouTube and livestream earning options describe these as distinct routes.

Your Analytics can show what a particular channel earned from ads for a defined period and audience. It cannot, by itself, establish a universal India-versus-US rate. YouTube’s official materials define the metrics, explain factors affecting CPM and ad delivery, and identify monetized markets, but do not provide a current comparable country benchmark for livestream CPM, RPM, or creator ad receipts with a stated sample and method. Treat the result as channel-specific; don’t present it as a rate all creators in either country should expect.

How YouTube’s revenue share fits in
YouTube says the Partner Agreement does not guarantee how much—or whether—a creator will be paid; earnings come from a share of advertising revenue generated by viewers watching content. For partners who accept Watch Page Monetization, YouTube states that the creator share is 55% of net revenues from ads displayed or streamed on public Watch Page videos. This is a program revenue-share term, not a promised effective CPM or per-view payout. See YouTube’s partner earnings overview.
For prerecorded streams that need to stay live
If the comparison involves a prerecorded video running as a YouTube livestream, the stream’s continuity is a separate operational issue from its ad rate.
